Thanks for the info and good for you and your friend.   We have 40 days coverage with the Federal Government Health Insurance plan (Sun Life) but it does not have cancellation insurance and if we are away longer than 40 days we don't have coverage so we buy a yearly plan with Medoc.

Medoc is an Canadian insurance company ?

I'm also a retired federal public servant with Sunlife but I cannot go to my cruise because I received mix vaccines.

There is nothing preventing you from cruising. You simply have to comply with the rules for unvaccinated passengers. Not ideal, I agree. But heartbreaking?

Im also in the same situation, I received two different vaccines and there 0 chances that I'll go on a cruise bieng treated as unvacinnated.

Its all or nothing for us.

This whole mixed dose thing just makes me want to cry, I did what I was told and thought was the right thing and now I may be able to cruise, but be considered unvaccinated. I hope this gets sorted out sooner than later. I don't cruise until March at this point, but it makes me want to get a second dose of Pfizer, which would be a third dose of vaccine, and feels like I'd be stealing it from someone else. If they'd even let me. Just makes me angry. I should just wait until the border opens and go get the one shot Johnson and Johnson, maybe I'd have super covid resistant powers then with all the different vaccines...

I feel exactly the same after one Aztra ans one Pfizer. We gave been totally screwed ! No other words should ne used !!

     Thank you for posting that.

That is what I thought would happen.

Hmm.. Do I want to apply or just cancel..

I received a mix vaccines and I'll have to cancel. I'm not going and to be considered unvaccinated. No way !

Just a note, Don on saturday said he bought the manulife travel insurance plan. Since his ship is leaving the 24 i hope he updates on whether its good enough. If its fine I'm just going to go with their single trip plan.

Base on the conversation I had with Manulife,it is impossible to buy a travel insurance for a cruise from a Canadian company. I would like to know more about it....

From what I've read via social media, less than 10% of fully vaccinated Canadians have had mixed doses, not a large "large proportion". On the other hand, none of the official GOC websites seem to provide an actual breakdown. Are you able to provide a link?

RC removed today  this policy on mix vaccines. Interesting....

Listened to the whole press conference and now the questions.  Other than Aug.9th - I'm not sure exactly what the implications are for Canadians.  Lot's of talk about American access to Canada, but nothing about Canadians leaving.

In fact the one minister said there are advising Canadians to still not to travel.  So Americans can enter Canada for non-essential, but Canadians cannot!?

No change to required testing to get into Canada from what I understand.

Still waiting to see what the American response is.

I wish politicians could be clear and concise - let's hope the American response is more clear cut.

There's already issued at the border with a lot of 'lee-way and discretion'  from border personnel that plagues the current set of guidelines.

At what point is this an issue of personal liberties for Canadians fully vaccinated?

65000 Canadians that were fully vaccinated crossed the border since July 8 and they were all tested and only 8 tested positive.  Clearly testing of vaccinated citizens is not required.

The American government will do an announcement in the coming days for Canadians planning to cross the border. Stay tuned ! 👍

You can expect the same measures as what I've been announced by our government.

it would be nice if the americans could open the border to us by aug 1st so i can drive down, but more importantly they need to drop the level down for cruising.

I so tired to have to battle with these regulations that I will cancel my upcoming cruise and wait for mid 2022.

I will do an all inclusive instead this fall. A lot easier to manage ! 🤨🤨🤨

This is really not a funny situation. Hopefully things will be clarified this week.

But what I doesn't understand is why  the cruise companies are posted something that is not final !!

I just called Celebrity and they confirmed that mixing Aztra and other vaccines are no nore accepted. I'm done !

    😔😔😔

Just hunting around for more info and saw that some people that have called Royal to complain are being told to wait - as the latest statement about mixed vaccines is currently under review.

So this could all change again in the days ahead.

This restart to cruising is bumpy and we can expect changes to happen weekly, if not daily.  So hold on - things will likely get more obvious and uniform as it all gets ironed out.

This is really not a funny situation. Hopefully things will be clarified this week.

    Depends on what cruiseline...

So NCL And RCL are 'no' to cruising with that mix.

Princess and HAL are a 'no' to that mix, but yes to Pfizer and Moderna.

Carnival is 'yes' to whatever is the policy of your own country to be considered vaccinated

I'm with Celebrity sailing Oct 21, and I have   shots of Aztra and Pzifer, like many many Canadians.

This is terrible news for some Canadians ...

So if you received one Pfizer and one Moderna shot - they will not consider you fully vaccinated (and no cruising for you.)  This is regardless of what our national policy is/was for vaccination status.  This is totally insane since the chemical properties the those are the same (MRNA), just a different name on the package.

We feel this is very unfair of NCL And RCL, I reached out to my NCL travel agent rep and will let you know what I hear back.

So since Carnival, Princess and Holland America considers folks fully vaccinated based on your countries definition of fully vaccinated - I'll be doing all my cruising on CCL.  Of course this could all chance in the days, weeks and months ahead - but right now that's the policy.

So leaving Florida with on e Aztra and one Pfizer seems to be acceptable ?

  13. 1 minute ago, ilovetotravel1977 said:

Possibly. But that is definitely something to find out ahead of time as it could impact which cruise you decide on. Someone told me Carnival is providing testing until the end of August.  Not sure about the rest.

Celebrity is also offering the test. I wouldn't want to go in a pharmacy to get tested. Too complicated.

Sorry, I was thinking flying to US as you only need an Antigen test.

Coming home to to Canada you can also use the Rapid ID NOW NAAT tests which are FREE at all Walgreens. Media only tells you PCR tests. Always check the govt website list:

    https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying-canada-checklist/covid-19-testing-travellers-coming-into-canada#getting-tested

Some cruise companies will offer these tests onboard at the end of the cruise ?

The Canadian government is now opening up cruising in Canada as of Nov.1/2021!!  Now this is clearing too late for the cruise industry to sail into Canada, it is an improvement from the original February 2022 date.

It also it paves the way for the travel restriction against Canadians travelling on cruise ships - meaning our health/travel insurance would now cover Canadians travelling abroad on cruise ship.  With the winter travel season coming up for Canadians - it means we should soon be able to take all those cruises we've already booked (10 for us!) or were waiting to book.

This is big news and hopefully will be followed in the weeks/months ahead about the border opening to non-essential travelers.  Fingers crossed!

A really good news for Canadian cruisers !

We also have had Johnson (Medoc) insurance coverage for many years and had a couple of claims while on cruises.   I had a couple of stays in the medical office on the ship and it was very, very expensive.   Over $10,000 for a few days with meds etc.   We then had to book new flights home (earlier than planned) and our insurance covered those costs as well.   They were excellent to deal with (although it did take a few months).   We would not travel without that insurance in the future.

We the existing warnings from the Canadian government. All possible coverage related to cruise are suspended. We are on a different world now in terms of Canadians insurance policies.

    Hi,

Website policyrates.ca is a good site to compare travel policies. Canadian site so the insurance on offer are Canadian based.

TravelGuard Insurance-provides Cruise coverage-options available to choose from

Another website that will search Canadian providers and contains good educational info on Medical, Trip cancellation is insure my trip.com

look for Cancel for any reason, pandemic coverage and pre-existing condition

    Thank you.

  18. All Canadians are in the same situation at the moment because of this stupid rules by Canadian health department.

I have one cruise planned also this October and I contacted several insurance company and no one can sell me a policy that would cover  a 14 days quarantine in Florida. If the rules doesn't change I may have to cancel my upcoming cruise because we're talking of possiblity several thousands dollars additional if we would have to stay an additional 2 weeks after our cruise.

We are cruising from Nassau at the end of the month. We have medical insurance but have trouble finding a company that would give us Trip Cancellation and Interruption insurance for a cruise. Does anyone have luck locating a insurance company that will sell such a policy?

Because of the level 4 travel alert issued by the Canadian government, no insurance are available at the moment apparently. Im looking for the same protection. Manulife is not, Blu Cross ?
