  1. Anyone ever do Wailea Beach DIY from Kahului cruise port?   I think it's about a 1/2 drive each way, but I don't see many options for getting there and back.  Once I'm there is this a public beach, or do I have to buy a day pass from a resort?  If public, are there chairs and umbrellas to rent, food and drinks, restrooms?

Or is there a nice beach closer to the cruise port??

Not only did I win another 250 points on the scratch off today, but it looks like Pac Man is coming back.  This time it might actually be for points.  The Play Button doesn't seem to be live yet, so you might want to go check it out.

Damn, should have been practicing these last few months!!

  3. We were there in July.   We took a taxi each way, easy peasy.   Beach was way nicer than I expected, and we rented chairs and an umbrella when we got there (on the Sunset Beach Bar side).   Kinda rocky right there, but clears up to just sand in 25 feet or so.   If a 737 is a big plane for you, then you'll be very happy.   As others have said there are usually 3 or 4 that come in between 11 and 1.   Hang around a little longer and they'll take off.   Every plane landed crossing over the beach and took off going away from the beach but starting right at the edge of the runway right across the street!!

I just bought $1500 in RCCL gift cards from Allstate assuming it would work like Carnival.  I just read the details.  Can you tell if if these will work on deposit with or without a travel agent??  Also, can they be used for payments and other expenses like gratuities and excursions?  Any adivce is much appreciated.

Well, I'm still waiting for my Gift Certificates to be applied to my account.   It's been 7 days now, and still nothing.   But I'm feeling more and more let down by them, and I'm worried that I just wasted my money.

If you are paying towards your already booked cruise, then I think they'll work.

But these are nothing like the Carnival Gift Cards which can be used for just about anything you buy, and can be used instantly!!

  7. I bought them through Allstate, 10% off.  I submitted them via email (Certificate # and Pin).  Got a reply that they had been received.   Want them appllied to my On Board Account so that I can use them when purchasing excursions, internet, etc.   Some of those items have prices that change almost daily.  My first concern is whether I can do this at all??  I mean doesn't on board account mean on board???   My second concern is how long it takes to be added??   Should I just dump a bunch of certificates and hope I get to use them???  Normally not a problem, but this was a last minute booking and I'm not sure the prices will go where I'd like them to prior to us leaving???

AARP sells them at a 10% discount, but from what I have read, they are a PIA to use. I don't know what sort of gift certificates the OP is referring to.

Yeah, OP here, I bought mine at Allstate.   They are so much harder to use than with Carnival, its disappointing.   But 10% off helps, so I fight through.

Question for anyone who may have tried it since Carnival returned to cruising. Shortly after they started sailing again, there were reports that the casino cash-out method wasn't working for unused Cruise Cash, gift card funds, etc. Has anyone tried it in recent months?

We cruised last August and I had no trouble cashing out $2300 worth of gift cards!!   I didn't do them all at once, but $500 or so a day.   Never had an issue.

  10. Are there any decent beaches near Kona.   It's a tender port for us, so that brings its own set of coming and going problems.   Beach would need to have facilities and food.  Any suggestions on how to get to/from this beach??  Any information would be appreciated.
