  1. I am unable to find the rules/terms for the Double Points Promo.

Does anyone know if you would now get 4 points for a booking a full suite?  Or do you think it would only be 3 points thinking the usual extra point for booking a full suite (normally get 2 points per day) was already a bonus, and they are not giving a bonus point on top of a bonus point.. Bottom line how many points would a full suite get during the promotion? 3 or 4 points?

  2. Curiosity question: Does anyone know why Norwegian is the only cruise line that does the 7 day Hawaii circuit?  It must be a profitable run for Norwegian, they do it every week of the year. Why are there no other cruise lines challenging NCL’s monopoly?   I would like to do a 7 day Hawaii cruise, I just do not like NCL, just a personal preference not to cruise NCL.

Might have to wait until I retire, when I will be able to get the time off for the longer Hawaii cruises.

  3. Update- Princess finally called back my TA today (Tuesday).

I got a full suite on the Regal with a large wrap around balcony (aft). Maybe it was worth the week wait for the call back.

In any event, I'm  happy with the upgrade, and the price they charged for it was a song, compared to what was being advertised.

  4. Next time I’ll call directly, but my past experience with other cruise lines was if I had a travel agent I needed to go through the travel agent to make any changes to the cruise. And changing categories is certainly a change. Since Princess sent my TA the offer and not directly to me, my assumption was the rule still applied. It’s been 14 yrs since my last Princess and was not aware calling Princess directly would do me any good. Which by the way it didn’t do me any good calling directly either. They just have not replied to any voice mails from the TA, or myself.  I’ll give it one more try on Monday. If no reply, i’ll just keep the additional  money I was willing to pay Princess in my pocket.

  5. The original e-mail from Princess was sent to my TA, who forwarded it to me. I did call my TA first, so they could handle it, and in return I would get additional OBC, from them due to the now higher cost of the cruise.  When they were not getting a reply from Princess, as stated above I called myself and had to leave a message. Of course I left all the appropriate info needed for Princess to contact me. But they still have not attempted contact with either myself or my TA.

There have been a total of 4 messages left for Princess (3 TA- 1 me).  I understand being busy, but it is now a business day short of a week and  no reply either way (up or down) for an offer they made to me.

Also they are still showing suites available on my cruise, so they did not run out of inventory. They just have not responded

  6. I received an up sell offer to a full suite earlier this week. Although not a super deal, it was good enough for me to want to take advantage of the offer. So I call me TA, the same day I received the e-mail offer.  They had to leave a message with Princess, so I waited until the next evening, called my TA back. They said they have not heard back yet ,and it could take up to 48 hours. So I waited, called back the next evening, still no word from Princess. My TA gave me the phone number and extension to call. I called Princess,  same thing had to leave a message. It has now been just shy of one week since the up sell offer. No reply from Princess as of this morning. I have checked and there are still suites available on my scheduled cruise.  I have never experienced  a company that wanted more of my money, but when notified of my acceptance of the offer, never call or e-mail back, either my TA or myself.  Is this normal? Make an up sell offer then ignore the attempt to purchase it?

  7. I’m arriving by Amtrak in Penn Station around noon on a Saturday for Princess Cruise.  Now I’m reading about a ferry to the Brooklyn terminal. Would it be better to take a cab from Penn Station to the Ferry (pier 11, is what I’m reading here). Then ferry over to the cruise port?  Or just go ahead and taxi directly to Brooklyn terminal.

Which brings up another question if I just take a cab.  Will I have trouble finding a cab willing to leave Manhattan to go to the Brooklyn terminal? could I possibly get attitude from the cabbie having to go to Brooklyn. I realize that attitude would be specific to the cabbie, but generally would the taxi driver just rather take the short Manhattan trips, or is this really not a concern I should have about going to Brooklyn from Manhattan via taxi?

  9. Thanks for all the information.. Glad they will still issue a card if requested.   Reading about the app Oceans Ready, it has very poor reviews, seems lots of people are having all kinds of issues.  Hopefully they will work out all the bugs.

In the mean time I'll be happy with my cruise card.

Medallion, or Cruise card, its all good I'm a vacationing passenger on a ship cruising the seas. 🙂

  10. Quick question please.  I’ll be taking my 2nd Princess cruise in October. The first Princess Cruise was 14 yrs ago.  I have cruised numerous times on other cruise lines.

The cruise I’ll be on in October on the Regal is a medallion Cruise. My question is are cruise cards still available on medallion cruises? I collect all my cruise cards and have them all in a nice display. And would like to maintain my cruise card collection. So do you have to have a medallion or can you still get a cruise card.

On a side note the medallion seems very intrusive to me, tracking your every move.

  11. My wife and I did the prohibition party, the best part was dressing up in 1920’s attire. My wife went as a flapper and I has a Chicago gangster. Had a good time walking the promenade and getting our pictures taken by the sports car. The event itself was actually a little corny, but still kinda fun. It was a different way to spend an evening. So yes, it’s worth it if you get into the spirit of the event.. The best part now is looking at the pictures, all dressed up in our 20’s fashions.

  12. Thanks for the replies... I was hoping the on demand movies/shows would be free. The last cruise we were on (Holland America) there were lots of free movies and shows available on demand. We were in a suite that time and will be in a GS this time as well. Not that we will be spending the cruise watching TV, but I do want some down time away from people and crowds. Enjoying the cabin, and the sea from the balcony is a part of a relaxing vacation/cruise for me.
