He was assistant CD to johnny ibrahim learnt from one of the best' great energy , fun involved great CD. Also no longer with NCL.
I've had the pleasure of cruising with both. These were memorable CDs, the others - not so much.

I had seen a lot of hype about Sinan here on CC and I finally got to cruise with him in April. I now understand what the hype was about! He seemed to give 110% to everything onboard and was very present around the ship making sure everyone was having a good time. I was looking forward to sailing with him again. I think this is a big loss for NCL but I wish Sinan the best in his new ventures!

Yes they had 2 showings (around 7:30 and 9:30 I think) and you did not need to make reservations.

making a movie with Mark Whalberg in Toronto.
Interesting!

The Getaway does not have Second City (improv group) - just regular comedians. There were 2 onboard our sailing and they said that each show was pretty much the same. So Comedian A performs his/her same show several times per sailing, Comedian B performs their own show several times, and then there is one show with them together. The combined show has different material from each comedian than the solo shows (although during the combined show each comedian still performs separately).
So overall there are 3 separate comedy shows you can see which would each have unique material. Hope this made sense!

I always use SquareMouth for travel insurance! They have a great, user friendly website for getting quotes.

We enjoyed the Flamingo Grill and it was kind of a secret spot - never too crowded since it was out of the main area. It's also the perfect alternative to the buffet in the morning - less crowded, same food, and you get a nice breeze. Enjoy!

And does premium seating guarantee a better seat, or can i buy regular seating, line up earlier, and get a better seat then premium guests?
Thanks!
The regular seats are in the back in big booths - they won't be as close as the premium seats no matter how early you get there. I think the premium seats were worth the difference.

I'm curious as to whether recent sailings have this song on a continual loop.
YES! Last week on the Getaway we heard it many times! Sail away party, returning to the boat in Nassau, on the cruise channel, farewell show, etc.

The regular seating is in the back and in big booths. The premium seating is closer to the stage at long tables that seat about 12. You'll want to get premium seating for the best view of the dome (although without this you won't lose out on much) and best view of the show. You do still want to be in line early if you want the closest premium seats. We got there about 20 minutes before showtime and got a good seat, although not the closest to the stage.

I know some lines have their ice cream/frozen yogurt machines open 24 hours. What is the story on the Getaway? What hours and where are they located?
No 24 hour ice cream that I saw on the Getaway. The buffet has 4 soft serve machines open during the hours that the buffet is open. The buffet also has 2 ice cream stations staffed with someone serving you "real" ice cream. There were 8 flavors to choose from. O'Sheehan's now serves ice cream (milkshakes and sundaes) but they are about $4-$6 and are only served until 11.
Also, you can get ice cream served at dessert in the MDRs and most specialty restaurants.

I want to see if it is worth spending $58 per couple
We booked for the first night so we got 20% off our floor seats. We enjoyed the show and felt it was worth the cost for the hour of entertainment and 3 course meal. There is a Q&A session with the magicians the morning of the last sea day. If you're still not sure, I would watch that (they do a few tricks) and see if you enjoy it before booking - but it may be sold out by then.
-
It was about $89 and there are only 16 spots available. You book onboard through the shore excursion desk. I believe it took place towards the end of the cruise, like the last sea day.

We did this tour on Friday - glad to report that we had a good time. Be advised that the tour says it is 3 hours, but it did run over. I've seen other posters say that it has run over the allotted time as well. Our on-board time was 6:30 so we were fine, but a few people had to be back on their ship at 4:30. At 4:15 we were just getting to the last stop on the tour.

Does anyone know if there is chess in O'Sheehan's? My husband and I plan to hang there quite a bit, and if there is a chess game available, that will keep DS happy to be hanging with us.
The card room has chess sets and chess tables setup. Didn't see anything chess related in O'Sheehans.

We got off the Getaway today - it was so hard to leave! Review coming soon.

7) My last NCL cruise (Dawn from Boston) had a sail away party on the pool deck complete with buffet (by the pool..not the actual buffet) and huge BBQ grills making chicken/burgers etc.. Is it the same on the Getaway, or is lunch only served in a dining area?
There is a sail away party in Spice H20 but no BBQ to go along with it :(

We booked as soon as we got onboard (for the 20% off deal on the first night). The box office was open at boarding time. The vegetarian option was eggplant parmesan. Just let your waiter/waitress know that you want that option instead of the steak and shrimp.

Legally Blonde: 1.5 hours
Levity Entertainment: 45 minutes
Burn the Floor: 55 minutes
Illusionarium: 1.5 hours
These seem accurate (just off the Getaway today)

If you are not drinkers, you might be better off spending the $25 elsewhere.
I agree! However, I would stop by the box office desk and ask if they have a price for non-drinkers (like kids). Won't hurt to ask!

If we book two inside guarantee cabins at the same time and link them, what are our chances of being somewhat close to each other?
Anyone have experience with this?
We have done this in the past. Our PCC put a noted the bookings that we would like the rooms to be close to each other. The cabins ended up being on the same floor. If it's important that the cabins are truly close together, I would just skip guarantee because there is always a risk that it won't work out.

They started boarding around 11:30-11:45 last week (non Haven guests). They give you a card with your boarding group number and you wait until they call your group number.

We did a CTN in November and there was no room service and no special packages - not even the soda package.

Macadamia Nut Ice Cream
I have not seen this onboard - is it at a specialty restaurant?
prepaid drink package

Unless something has changed, you can buy the soda package for just one person in your cabin.
