  1. Needless to say, long day, we're tired. Wanted to share pics first and then in the morning, I'll give more descriptions of the island, which is amazingly beautiful Like unfair beautiful
  2. A second botanical gardens and waterfalls Note silver metal rings on the palms. That is to keep mice, rats and other critters from climbing up and stealing coconuts
  3. This was my bucket list stop....Teahupoo (pronounced T'Chop-ooo....super soft "T") This a mecca for surfers. The next summer olympics will have the Surfing portion here. This is why...watch this Waves were not that big, big wave season is in like june/july Here's our stop there to pay respects. We also got to meet some young men who are part of the Tahitian Rowing Club.
  4. Visit to a natural spring. Family was enjoying and allowed our intrusion. Look beyond the elder woman sitting and you can see where the water is bubbling up from a natural spring. You'll see in another photo, folks filling water jugs and bottles from the spring. No charge. Icey cold. Then was the beach and first look at black sand. The water's beautiful, and try to take note of how far out the waves break, that's the coral reefs that protect the island.
  5. Going to have to do in several parts, kids..... This is the departure, meeting up and then our first stop, a Marae...sacred place, like a church. The river looks muddy because of last night's rain. It was nice all day, hot and humid....you know, like Florida
  6. Tahiti is amazing Papeete is pronounced "Papa-E-Tee" Papeete Nui is the main big island where we docked and then there is Tahiti iti (small) next door by bridge. Massive amazing photo dump is coming, stand by
  7. Good morning, Tahiti photo dump of arrival We had to spin around and try and land on that postage stamp of a pier (for a ship this size) Said they've (Luminosa) never been here before.
  8. Hello....Morning here as we pass what I believe is Moorea, which is our stop tomorrow. If you zoom in closely, you'll see a RCCL ship, I beliee thats the one we're chasing. It departed a day before us, making it being in Moorea today, one day before us, totally plausible.
  9. BTW, it was about the same distance to Hawaii......nearly 3000NM
  10. Good moning, Gonna be damp today. Im a Floridian, so think we can manage some. Have a total tour of both parts of Tahiti Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti Big thing for me is seeing Teahupoʻo (pronounced like "Chop ooh") One of the most famous surf spots in the world with monster waves (No, not surfing) Additional map and data added
  11. Apparently we did 4/20 twice without any weed..... Bummin hard
  12. Rumor is, pax will have a sanitary version while some crew may have fun. I'll have a full report It is now 11:30am and 5:30pm EDT (NYC) Now, my phone, computer and everything all say it's the 21st....I missed 4/20? Boooo But the ship says it's Thursday, because we have our Tahiti stop tomorrow, friday. Totally confused, we lost another hour last night....my sleep is totally jacked Schnitty day out. Total overcast, down to the horizon, so even looks like fog. Heard a loud thunder clap last night.
  13. Couple notes, they're having some issues with the interior public area air conditioning. Lido is a sauna. We saw condensation drops in Steakhouse and it's just generally warm. Our cabin is fine for us, but we try to keep curtains closed when not in room. Best photo in Pixels so far The MDR was a total disaster tonight. The Hub app is totally jacked up due to the date line crossing. So some could check in, MANY could not, resulting in the mess you see below.
  14. CD Jacky says Equator crossing ceremony will be on the 25th.
  15. I asked the CD if there will be an Equator Crossing Ceremony and he said "yes" It'll be in hub app when at that time
  16. Midday update.....EVERYONE IS CONFUSED ON WHAT DAY IT IS OR ISN'T.....LOL Tomorrow is Tahiti followed by Moorea.....shore leave two days in a row....wow! Seems to me, folks are starting to slow down a bit. Excitement and newness is wearing off and everyone is settling in. Bingo today.....everyone was civil, no fist fights Went back to the well and took on some more water.... It's been rocky, but I wouldn't say rough. Seas here roll longer. In Caribbean, they're smaller waves, more individual. In South Pacific, you can see a rolls of waves the entire length of the horizon.
  17. One body/shampoo combo Was going to cover this today....On Celebration 2 months ago when we were on it, the body wash was a blue that smelled like Axe body wash and some Orange shampoo that smelled....orangey This is a single product and the scent is very neutral. Nor male or female
