My sister booked the cruise for her and her family online without a PVP. When I decided to join her I called my PVP to book my cruise, and when I told her about my sister and that I wanted to link our bookings she did so and then told me that if my sister needed anything else that she could call her. Probably just trying to get a new customer, but it is possible for the PVP to service someone who booked online.

I saw this too and wondered if it was aa mistake. They also changed the order of our ports (same islands, different days) without any sort of notification. Thankfully I hadn't already booked tours, but I wonder if anyone else has noticed.
Received an email notification from Carnival on 5/30

Seriously? I'd love for you to explain how taking away something because of the behavior of a few does me some good.
I must use your logic at the TSA Pre-Check line this morning. If that were to apply then the $85 I spent because of the actions of a few are for my own good...
I think the "good" the poster was talking about was getting through security lines quicker.
SHM...

But the question is' date=' how much more money would they get from those who could by cheers as an individual? Are they losing more money from these potential customers, or from those that would share?[/quote']
They won't loose anything, the majority of them will just pay by the drink.
-
I haven't cruise in years so I am still learning new things.. So if there are 2 people in a room both people must purchase the drink package?
Both or neither
-
Well what do you expect when you have people on these boards bragging how they spend hours checking 510 and 20 times a day for weeks on end for the privilege of spending $70 to save a few minutes on board. I think they would just sell just as many at $200 a pop
-
Why are they not charging more for this? So many people willing to spend hours a day in hopes of getting it. I bet they could sell just as many for $200.
-
my guess is they would charge you for 2 drinks...the virgin smoothie and the shot of tequila.
Because THAT'S what you ordered!

The bartenders that do that, in my opinion are just after a larger tip, apparently receive that tip very often, and then are shorting Carnival. I take issue with that.
You're entitled to your opinion, but the "issue" is really between Carnival and their employee. If Carnival really had an issue with this they could certainly do more to prevent it.
-
Based on my experience and apparently another poster on this thread, I would simply order your child's milkshakes or frozen drinks from a bartender who knows you have cheers. Be prepared to pay for it, and I would say maybe half the time the bartender will give it to you on your cheers instead. That way you haven't broken any rules. I really don't think they're too concerned about sharing a milkshake here or there with a child, it's more alcoholic drinks they're concerned about. And if you don't intentionally try to abuse it it you should be fine.

I get it, my mistake. I just find it odd I'm willing to pay for upgrade on the same cruise that is double the cost. They are making more money. Yes I agree it's their business and their rules. I didn' cancel tho or asked for a refund. I just know now not to rebook. Live and learn and I won' be upgrading.
They would not make more money they were to allow you to upgrade and waive the fees. They will still get the money for the cabin you would upgrade to from someone else.

Beach/pool activities in ports

The reality is that the majority of carnival cruisers under21 cannot drink legally at home. It is reasonable to expect that reducing thedrinking age to 18 for these kids while they are on “vacation”, particularly ona cruise line with a “party” reputation, can lead to problems. It isunderstandable that the cruise line just doesn’t want to deal with this, so itsets the drinking age to 21.

On 10 there will usually be a band or dj. Their area is right below the big screen. You can look down on the activities on 9 and the pool, usually there's a good breeze. For quiet, follow the path to the back of the ship, there are several areas to sit and even shade along the way. Lots of people read there and look over the side of the ship.
I was on the Conquest in 2013, and there was ALWAYS a band or DJ playing music. It was VERY LOUD. Sometimes in the AM they would just play TV on the big screen - Music Videos or re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond or some network morning show. I found this also to be uncomfortably loud, and I am actually a little hard of hearing.

Sorry...but I will never use hand sanitizer.
Great, way to think about others with your germs and sickness all over the buffet area, the door handles and anythings else you touch. I know you are not in the bathroom washing your hands 24/7 to fight against the possibility of spreading something, it is not possible to actually be washing your hands that much while on the ship. I am sure you will tell us all about sanitizer not being useful and blah, blah, blah and how you rebel against it is at least an attempt to reduce things being spread. You cannot count on people to wash their hands continually or at all in the bathroom.
Sorry, But I will also never use hand sanitizer. I , like most people my age I suspect, was taught to "wash up" before every meal. 50+ years later, I still visit the restroom and wash my hands with SOAP & WATER before every meal. I do the same on a cruise ship. It is quite "possible"

I am going to choose a cabin based on my preferred location cabin type and price. If the optimal cabin happens to be a connecting cabin, I'm not going to avoid it just because I don't need that functionality. Really, why should I?
-
oops.Just noticed that this is a year old thread. Have they really been charging this much for a whole year?
-
Well what did you expect with dozens of threads on here where people brag about how how much time they spend checking multiple times a day four weeks until it becomes available. When you have people lining up for a capacity controlled good like FTTF, they can charge whatever they want.

No advantage at all to the passport card over BC. Either spring for passports or save your money and use birth certificates.

We rent a car every time. It ranges anywhere between $25-50 for the day...we drop it off at MIA and they have a free shuttle to the port. Very easy and affordable, plus you then have a car to use while you're in Miami.

I have done this as well. Very convenient and reasonable.

when did they ever start?
My first 2 cruises were during football season
Oct 2010- Freedom & Nov 2013-Conquest
On both cruises, SNF & MNF games were on the big screen on the Lido. I remember some college games shown on the freedom during the week as well.
-
When did they stop showing SNF & MNF outside on the big screen?
Why?
-
I haven't Cruise during football season since 2013. Don't they show the Sunday night and Monday night games on the big screen anymore?

Yes, Carnival is not the authority as to whether or not your four month pregnant wife wishes to enjoy a glass of vino. She can consume whatever she would like if she has the Cheers program. Non alcoholic drinks include soda, juice, espresso based hot and iced coffees, energy drinks, still and fizzy bottled water, honest tea iced tea and milkshakes. If you're sailing on the Vista or Sunshine, you can even go to the shake spot and get a spiked milkshake from their adult menu.

For what it's worth, there is a poster on these boards who claims to have purchased cheers for himself and his pregnant wife, after which they refuse to serve her alcohol because she was pregnant.
Buffet vs. MDR
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
I never liked eating at buffets. Just the fact that they call that clear plastic thing on top of a sneeze guard grosses me out. I actually avoided cruising until I was almost 50 years old because I thought all meals were served at the buffet. Have had four cruises since, and have managed to not eat anything from the buffet.
