  1. hii all another question related to this I've booked the wheel chair with tui and p & o when I was telling someone at work about this they said you automatically get premium security for free as part of the wheel chair does this sound right as I was going to book the premium security and pay for it.

if it is true would they let all 4 of us through? or only the wheelchair user and the person pushing the wheelchair?

  2. there's something wrong with all the arrival times if you look as they all say 18.06 as an arrival time I went on adonia a few years ago and that arrived at 10 pm the night before to have a container put on the top deck the week before they announced fathorm.

I've looked at vts again this morning and I don't know if it was me reading it wrong before or it has changed.in now says 23.45 which is more understandable.

I have a friend who used to do carpet and flooring replacement for p&o cruises and he said back in 2012 when I last saw him on a ship that they had to be at the dock at 10pm the previous night to get security clearance and were waiting dock side from midnight I know another team of carpet fitters that do princess mainly they go through the same routine or sail with the ship.

basically the earlier the ship arrives the faster the work gets done some times they get on about 6am and have to be of with everything done by 3pm. I should imagine the maintenance team on ventura will be preparing certain parts of the ship in the days leading up to Southampton arrival and the cranes will load things like containers and rubbish bins on to the top deck once it's tied up.

  3. I’ve been told there’s free WiFi in the port has anyone found it as I may need to use it to contact someone when I get there. I’m taking iPhone 6s on EE pay as you go a friend told me they couldn’t use they’re contract phones while in St Lucia I didn’t know if the same problem would happen in Barbados and if the issue was contract phones?

  4. I'm sailing back on azura on 10th march been looking for a port website that gives departure times but can't find anything I want an idea of what time it departs as were going on a none ship trip the only thing I have found is marine traffic which says it left at 8pm last night. were aiming to be back for 3pm I just want to be sure that we don't need to be earlier we are flying out the day before.

  5. when do they do the safety drill were arriving Friday and boarding but ship doesn't sail until Saturday do they do 2 safety drills as we are going to meet someone Friday night and need to have a rough idea of time.

also flights out we have 28 kg of luggage allowance but can only put a case on for 23kg can we put a 2nd for the other 5kg as we haven't done long haul before so different thing keep popping up today was dry run on hand luggage which has been a bit of a nightmare.

  6. I did 4 days on oriana in 2012 on the 175th aniversery cruise 4 adults my parents who are in their 70's and me and my brother it wasn't good by the end luckily it finished saturday morning so i had 2 days to sleep before i went back to work you all start getting grumpy with each othe especialy as my brother is a messy so and so which caused friction the bathrooms arn't designed with 4 adults in mind either and there is a lack of wardrobe space as well. This was an outside cabin we needed to reduce the cost as we had already done the med on azura that year.

  7. last time I was on azura was 2012 are the tvs flat screen as were doing the transatlantic and know there's going to be a day when weather is iffy and we will want to watch videos from laptop and does anyone know the brand of tv in this cabin so I can over ride their remote for this purpose we managed to do it on Britannia 2 years ago using a Samsung mobile...

  8. In my situation it was because I had a handbag and a carry on I think and they seemed quite strict in that respect - unlike BA for example

going with my mum already checked the hand bag situation it has to go in to the hand luggage according to tui website.

thanks for the rucksack from amazon had one from home bargains which came in at just under a 1kg so that is a better option.

  9. i'm of to Barbados in a couple of weeks is having a weight limit on the hand luggage a new thing as I've never flown long haul or charter before would normally fly to spain (easy jet BA ) or sail from Southampton.

do they check hand luggage weight?

I put my laptop and tablet in the rucksack I would normally use and it was already 4kg I would like to get a change of clothes in there as well just in case luggage goes missing....(always the optimist)

if they weigh it do they check at the plane again as i'll be buying duty free in the airport...

  10. my 1st p&o cruise was azura in 2012 and I booked early payed high price then when we got on the ship there were people booking last minute not 2 or 3 it was in the 40's and 50's who had paid £400 less than me it was only after this they brought out select which you now don't hear of silly pricing to fill the ship I think the insides sold out which pushed the price up and then they upgraded inside to outside and outside to balcony I think they have done it on my next cruise in 3 weeks time as balcony doesn't seem to be going up.

  11. i'm going on azura transatlantic trying to make sence of the duty free allowance it says 250gram of tobacco non eu but we are

going to ponta delgada in the azores i wondered if this counts as an eu port which would then mean eu rates which is 1kg?

also does anyone know the current duty free prices on rolling tobacco on p&o ships?

  12. any one been caught or understands the rule properley?

i;m on azura on 9th march i now unerstand i can't take any alchol from duty free what i want for my room is a bottle of malibu for drinking in the room can i buy 1 bottle and take this on to the ship as i'm not sure from what i've read.

every message i have read talks of wine and not spirits

  13. Was it transatlantic? How is the coach transfer organised in the other direction? Did you have a good time?

i'm doing azura transatlantic eventually got told the correct information by p&oi and i checked on here a few months ago..

on the final day they tell you what time you're coach is going the following morning i tried to book it through cruise personaliser which doesn't show the date you need phoned the coach company number who knew nothing about this cruise we then phoned p&o for the 2nd time and then got told this,

  14. i need to organise a wheel chair for my mother to get through gatwick.

i believe the best way is through the airline tomson/tui but i have had to sort a medical form out for my brother who is diabetic this is p&o's disability form and also mentions wheel chairs at the airport so which is the best way TUI or P&O disability form?

  15. as above but on Thomson/Tui flights flights we had to pay £25 per person per a flight booking charge so if your flying both ways it £50 a person to book seats.

i believe this is standard practice on all p&o charter flights.

  16. 1. Inside Departures it indicates walking time to each Gate. Some can be 15 minute's walk. There are travellators but not sure how much of the walking distance they would take care of for any specific Gate. I'd be tempted to get wheelchair organised here as walking distance can be quite far.

    2. Unlike Gatwick, at Barbados with bonded luggage you don't go through the terminal but walk a relatively short distance once leaving the plane to a side entrance to the airport where the shuttle buses are waiting. There might be a bit of a wait in the queue for the shuttle but in our experience this hasn't been for long although iirc you are out in the sun here.

    3. Bus transfer they say is about 45 mins to an hour. Time and local traffic have an influence but I think we usually do it in about half an hour.

    4. Registration is in a hanger type structure at the port prior to embarkation.

    5. As you don't have to go through baggage reclaim, there shouldn't be much of a delay getting to the port as long as your flight is on time. Realistically 6pm on board should be quite achievable allowing for transfer, registration and finding your cabin.

Sorry seem to have got an extra number here - but can't help with the tobacco costs.

Enjoy the Caribbean - it's great; warm, welcoming and vibrant and the fabulous weather and sea. Hope you love it as much as we do.

thanks kruzseeka thats nearly all of the questions answered now just need a smoker to answer the last one thank you again.

  17. my parents got hooked on a Thomson cruise to the northern lights they wanted to go again we went at the end of the 1st season of celebrity eclipse i then got hooked but the prices went up so we booked azura in 2012 and ended up doing 175th on oriana which was a blast apart from the weather the god send is work won't pay the mobile charges on a cruise so no phone if i go to Europe on a land holiday work phone has to go with me so do as many cruises as i can afford.
