Yep. We didn't go to the steakhouse back when it was an extra $30 or so per person.  Certainly wouldn't do it now.  How many would really do that?

I would. And will. I personally love the Steakhouse experience and food.  It's a treat to myself.

Thank you so much, you made my day! My picture is of my cat Emmett. He is 18 and a half years old and still acts like a kitten running around the house. He doesn't like when I go on cruises.

OMG I have an Emmett too! He's a manx mix and will turn 10 in December. As you can see he insists on going along with me 🤣IMG_20161226_112034_891.thumb.jpg.1a9ceae533ab0c0815ebe6e8ccaadd69.jpg

Personally, we'd never do a Carnival cruise. Type in cruise ship fights on youtube & sit back & see why! Still, when you come into a  port, take time to watch pax leave each ship. It can be very entertaining. We find Oceania is our favorite(but it IS pricey) The food is second to none, however, We ARE foodies in the food business. That being said, Princess offers great itineraries, which is why we cruise both. The price we pay varies from $2500-4500 PP per cruise(14 day) If you're unwilling to spend that kind of money after 40 years together, I don't know what to tell you.

Oh dear, my friend, you may have insulted somebody.  YouTube is not representative of real life.  People are not going to post videos of passengers behaving nicely.  That would not get those clicks necessary to generate income on YouTube.  I have been on several Carnival cruises and never once saw a fist fight.  I would not consider myself "trailer trash" though I did once live in a mobile home when I was putting myself through graduate school.  I would also suggest that you are not in a position to judge a Carnival cruise since you have never been on one.

I'm with you.  I have my first Princess cruise (to the British Isles) in August 2023. I also have my first Celebrity cruise (Caribbean) in March. However, I will also be cruising with Carnival for the 20th and 21st times in January and February. I have NEVER seen a fight and I've taken plenty of 3 and 4 day cruises, even during Spring Break when my kids were younger. I just got off a Viking River Cruise and it was amazing. Totally unlike anything I've experienced so far. It does not, however, diminish the joy I get from cruising Carnival.

Trailer trash, really...smdh. Stupid is as stupid does.

So after my last Carnival cruise I said to myself, "I don't have to lower my expectations. Carnival isn't inferior to Princess, it's just different". And I enjoy both types of cruises.

First of all, I LOVE your profile picture. Second... this is probably one of the very best things I've read on this site. I love your attitude!!! 💕

  5. For a British Isles Cruise in August of next year,  I currently have a balcony stateroom (BA) and really wanted a mini suite when I initially booked (don't ask me why I didn't just book it then, because I don't have a good excuse).

When we first booked, it was on the Emerald Princess and we chose our room. For whatever reason, Princess changed it to the Regal Princess and now we have a guarantee cabin (BA), still to be assigned. When I looked at mini suites (category MA), I found that I could upgrade now for $600 total (Club Class was not an option when I did a mock booking).

If I understand the bidding correctly, I would have to wait until we were 85 days from sailing. My only concern is that a mini suite won't be available to upgrade to, otherwise I wouldn't worry about waiting.

Assuming you wanted to upgrade to a mini suite, would you do it now or wait until you could bid on an upgrade?

  6. Did you have any problems with your Florida form being accepted at check in? I know it says "employee" on the form, but it's the only one I was ever given. I tried to find a generic national form, but I haven't found one.

Do they keep your form or make a copy? I was going to take my original, but I don't want them to keep it and I was afraid they wouldn't accept a copy. The Carnival website is not particularly forthcoming with that info 🤔🤦‍♀️

    Tia!

  7. I'll be cruising the British Isles on the Emerald in August 2023. I tend to get cold easily and I like to be out on the balcony as often as I can. Has anyone ever taken an electric blanket to cover up with on the balcony? I did a search through the prohibited items but I didn't see it listed anywhere. I didn't want to pack one and have it confiscated. (I know I can take a regular throw, but I'd like something warmer.) Tia!

When I first read that in OP's original post, I immediately assumed that the OP was confusing the specialty dining perk in the NCL Free At Sea promo as being in the Princess Plus package instead.

I do apologize to everyone, I absolutely was thinking of NCL's promo, instead of Princess. I'm so sorry for the confusion ❤

  9. What would be your suggestion for the best cruise line to take to visit primarily the British Isles (England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland)?

I usually cruise Carnival, but their BI cruise only hits 7 ports. Celebrity's website is awful to navigate so I wasn't able to get a good sense of what they offered. Cunard is just as confusing. NCL and Princess both look promising. I haven't looked at any others yet.

It's great to have you on the forum !
what is the discount that TAs get when buying a large amount of OBC from the cruise line?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question? (I'm not a TA, I meant when I used to use their services when I first started cruising. I apologize if there was confusion)

Here's the menu from the Carnival Panorama from 12/13/19.

According to the Panorama chef, this menu is going to other ships as well.

Thank you so much for posting this. I just did the Chef's Table in October 2019 and it was a different menu so I'm super excited to try this one. It looks amazing!

Wow,  the judgment here is incredible.   This person asked for helpful tips for sailing in an inside cabin.  You would think she wished death upon her mother for not gifting her a suite.

INeedAMaiTai,  as I had posted,  somebody would have to offer me a free cruise to sail in an inside.  And even then, I might not.  That is just me.  I need my fresh air.  I need some natural light.   That is me...  I make no apologies.

Which ship will you be on.  Do you Know?  I have heard, as mentioned, that on the Royal Class. (I suppose all Royal class) the sideways Inside cabins are a bit bigger.  There is a good video of on on the Regal that we researched when we booked an inside for our son.  You don't have the little entry area, which gives you the extra space, but there is no privacy when opening and closing the cabin door, and it opens directly into the room and bed area.

I guess I don't know why your mother would decide that it was an inside cabin or not.  Could she just gift you a certain amount, some OBC, or something.  And let you and your DH choose your cabin type.  I am assuming if you have been a frequent cruiser, then paying for part of a cruise would not be out of your budget.

I'm 100% with you. I was not happy in the one inside cabin I stayed in. I literally slept the entire cruise away, it was so dark. I desperately need to see the ocean but I don't want to have to spend time listening to a bunch of strangers (I read a lot and conversations are distracting).

I agree with other posters about keeping the tv on to the bridge view so you can see if it's daytime. One option I would absolutely explore is upgrading to an OV or balcony and paying the difference. I hope you enjoy your cruise regardless!

And ignore all these (insert expletive) with their angry eyebrows and upturned noses. They're just pissy no one bought them a cruise 🤣
