I wrote to the cruise lines on which I've sailed and they send me my past cruise info. So, I've edited my signature. Testing to see if it works....

As you can see I haven't cruised in quite some time. And, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm getting itchy to go again! But I don't see any "steal" deals for singles being posted here. Maybe they still don't exist.

I continue my dream of a:

1) single rate

2) 10+ day cruise

3) balcony cabin and

4) price under $1000

Shall I continue to dream?!?

Nancy, thanks for the reminder to subscribe to receive emails. I subscribed to something ... but not sure what. I found if I open one thread (like this one) within a group of threads the 'receive email' is not an option under the "Thread Tools" button.

Let me be clearer (maybe) .... I can subscribe to emails with the "Solo Cruisers" thread open but when opening a thread within that topic (like this one) the options under the "Thread Tools" change. I'm not sure why. I do not want to receive emails from all messages posted in "Solo Cruisers." Only ones posted in "Post CRUISE LINE single suppliment...." But that does not appear to be an option. Hmmmm. We will see what notices I receive in email. So far, I have received zero.

Thanks for starting this thread, Ryan. It is just what I might need!

Years ago I was associated with an organization which allowed me to do a number of cruises. That organization no longer functions and, being without friends who like to cruise and unwilling to pay 150 - 200% to sail alone, I have not been on a voyage in some time.

In recent years I haven't spent nearly the time on the cruise boards or searching for cruise deals that I did years ago. But I've had a bad case of the cruise "itch" for some time now and it's time I "scratch" it!

I have a couple of caveats and questions:

-- A number of the posts here mention cruises which are in the very near future. (I need more than a few days or even a few weeks to plan a vacation.) Is the current cruise market such that super-specials (especially those priced for a solo cruiser) are found closer to the sail date?

-- I am on a number of cruise-related email lists (cruise lines, travel agencies, etc.) but I cannot recall ever receiving a single email announcing or promoting a price deal for a solo cruiser. Am I on the wrong lists or doesn't anyone cater to us single folks? (I am NOT interested in the 'single's cruises' companies as I find -- or found them when I used to look -- overpriced.)

-- Given the state of the economy what is the current feeling about cruise prices for the near (year or two) future? Have those of you who keep up with researching cruise prices noticed a substantial price influx in the past couple of months?

-- While I'm somewhat of a hermit, enjoy my privacy, and very much look forward to my first cruise on which I am the only cabin occupant, I certainly wouldn't be adverse to the idea of meeting a few Cruise Critic solo cruisers. Perhaps a few of us single/solo folks could plan a cruise together some day.

I never did create one of those fancy signature listing all my past cruises. And, after many years, I don't have a clue how many cruises I've been on, where they went, and when they sailed. Hmmm ... wondering if I can get that info from the cruise lines.

Y'all please help keep this thread active with news we solo-ers can take advantage of. I'll be checking in here often!
