It doesn't sound pathetic at all. We all have insecurities and miss family and friends, so please don't berate yourself.

As for me, I love sailing solo. It's a great chance to meet people from all over the world and have fun doing it 🙂

    Quoting from another thread:

If we don't travel, what do we do, sit at home being miserable?

That's my attitude too, plus I like sailing solo as I get to meet lots of interesting (and some not so interesting) people along the way.

My first solo meet-up was on the Allure of the Seas. I went to the straight meet-up and met good people agreeing to spend time together after dinner.

A mix up later and we were at the gay meet-up by mistake.

Long story short (I'll tell you the full story when I see you on the next ship!), the whole crowd got on so well, it was a meet-up, not either a straight or gay meet-up, it was just a group of new friends getting together for a beer or two.

On my last cruise, I got friendly with a 70 year old woman, a 22 year old man, and a 28 year old woman. I'm still in touch via WhatsApp with several people I've met over the last few years.

Coming up, I'm booked on MSC from Barcelona for Christmas and P&O from Barbados to Southampton in March 23.

    Say hello, I don't bite.

    Happy days!

We dropped to $3.73 gal here in PA.   I would love to see $2.99😀

I wonder how much does it cost to feed a horse?

I paid $3.39/gal @ Mobile today. It's usually the same as Costco, maybe lower.

I couldn't believe the amount of cars there that needed to gas up at the same time, 12:30 today.
A block away was $3.61 at Sunoco, who I always went to.

I just booked another solo cruise to the Panama Canal on Holland America next October.  I am going to continue to travel as long as I can.  It sure beats sitting at home looking at 4 walls.

    Right attitude!! Enjoy your travels.

  5. Sorry if I've mentioned this before, but I lost my wonderful husband on 10/5/2021.

Found out I had thyroid cancer mid Nov. 2021.  After hearing that, I decided to run to California for Christmas '21 to see his nieces and their families.  Stayed in 3 different hotels since we traveled to Palm Springs.  Had a very nice time.

In April I found out I had melanoma in my arm.

I am happy to say I am cancer free!!
No time to sit around and have a pity party for myself.  I'm making the most of the time I have left, which should hopefully be 20-25 more years.

Thank goodness I get 5 weeks vacation time each year!

I went to Hilton Head Island, SC for my birthday in early May, (it was already planned for us), took a g/f, who brought along a g/f.  Trip was fine.

Went on a cruise with those two girls in mid-July, and they of ditched me a lot.  Needless to say, she is no longer in my life.

I was just in Florida two weeks ago, (planned trip with now ex-friend, so I got to foot the whole bill), and had a wonderful time with my SIL, BIL and dh's niece, who luckily works at Universal. lol

Had the whole 2 b/r villa all to myself.  I was fine.  Swam in 5 of the 7 pools they had.  Absolutely love this place.

Mid Oct I am flying to TN and staying at a wonderful cabin just down the road from my cousin who will take me site seeing and to DollyWood.  Looking forward to this.

End of Nov. I am booked on a 5 day cruise from NY to Bermuda.

I am getting used to traveling alone.  I'm not shy, so I have no problem speaking to strangers.
It sucks that I don't have my dh with me to travel anymore, but I did learn it's better to be alone then to be with people who will hurt you.

Very nice sunset from our backyard last night.  Would have been spectacular if we had just marsh behind us rather than houses.

    Very nice pic!
I wanted to take a pic of the sun rising on Saturday morning, but I was driving to Orlando Airport at 6:30am and it was my first time driving alone.  I sure do miss my co-pilot.  😭

I had a wonderful time in Orlando last week.  Friends drove up from Palm City for lunch on Monday.  On Tues I went to Universal with dh's niece who works there, so it was FREE!.  Had a couple of dinners with SIL and BIL.
Stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort in Lake Buena Vista, and it was totally awesome!
First solo trip, (ex-friend screwed me over), so I had a 2 B/R villa all to myself.
Got to swim in 5 of the 7 pools.  Still need to find those other two! lol

Looking forward to my solo trip to TN in 28 days.  Cousin will show me around.

Quickie cruise to Bermuda in 74 more days.  Glad I saw that someone dh and I met on a cruise a bunch of years ago is going to be on same cruise with her g/f so I'll have someone to hang with.

Anyone else glad the summer is over?

  7. So I just returned from a solo land trip to Orlando.  My g/f and her b/f drove up 2 hours to come visit me for lunch. Saw SIL, BIL and NIL. Niece took me to Univeral.  Now looking forward to my trip to TN next month where my cousin will show me around and my solo cruise in 75 days.  Nice to be making wonderful new memories.

  8. My dh passed away last October.
I went on a cruise with a 'good' friend and her friend last month, and felt like it was a solo cruise for me.  They shared a cabin, and I had my own.  (thank God)
I am going to Florida on Sunday, (and that now x-friend was supposed to come with me, but after the way she ditched me on that cruise, to hell with her), so I am going solo and I plan to have a fantastic time by myself. I have a wonderful 2 b/f resort all to myself.
(I will see my SIL, BIL & their daughter, who works at Universal, so I'll get in free)

A few days ago I booked a 5 day cruise to Bermuda.  While on FB posting for that cruise, I noticed a woman that my dh and I met on a cruise a few years back when she with her husband, will be on this cruise.  Luckily she is going with her g/f and my cabin is veryclose to theirs.  At least I will know someone but will mostly be by myself.  Right away she said we much have dinner and a drink together and hang out on her balcony.
Looking forward to some company and also doing things on my own now.

Did you check the Roll Call for that cruise?  If there isn't a Roll Call for that cruise, you could start one.  I'm sure that someone would be glad to go with you.

I on the CC roll call and two on FB.  lol

I'll be sure to go to the solo meets when on board.  All dead threads.

Before Covid roll calls were hopping.

  10. So I booked a cruise for the end of Nov.
Some years ago my dh and I met another couple on the cruise and stayed in touch with them on FB.  Turns out the woman and her g/f are traveling the same time.  Even said I could/should hang with them, so last night i/o booking the sail away club balcony, I went with a regular balcony which is super close to their cabin.   I'm happy that I'm near someone I know, just in case.  Feeling much better about this cruise now.  Only 90 more days!  lol
