  1. Confusing as previous posters suggest kettles will be provided.

We were on Independence in April in a JS and had kettle and coffee maker.

If you are in a standard balcony cabin or lower you do not get a kettle.

I always ask the cabin steward when we first meet him and maybe because i always give a tip when we first meet he often gets me a kettle if he can.

We get cartons of milk with our room service cereals as well as a jug of coffee and i pay for the hot breakfast too but if you want continental breakfast there is no charge.

  2. We are going on Independence on 2 September for the first time having sailed previously on Freedom and Oasis from Port Canaveral. Just read today that on the cruises from the UK there are kettles and tea and coffee making facilities in the cabins. Can any recent cruisers confirm this please? It will save me an early morning walk to the Promenade Cafe for my first cup of tea!!

Also, I know there aren't any Freestyle machines on Independence but do you get any drinks mug/container for taking a cold drink up on the sun deck? We have the deluxe drinks package included.

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

  3. Hi Peter and Jenny! We are doing these cruises too next April and have just noticed on another forum about the Cuba Visa requirement. We're researching this at the moment but it would appear that Thomson changed their way of dealing with this from May 2017 ...and our brochure was is an 'old' one! ...and it is now our responsibility to obtain the Visa not theirs!!! As you will be aware with the cruises we'll be doing visit Cuba more than once including overnight and on first glance the Tourist Card/Visa only covers a single entry and covers thirty days.

We're not sure about what we'll do about this and wonder if you had discovered this since your original post.

At least we've got plenty of time to sort it out!! We're actually going on Discovery 2 a week on Sunday (18th) on a back to back!

    Kind regards,

    Gill and Malcolm

    .

Thanks for the advice, we are really looking forward to this one. Sorry we are not on the January one but we are joining for the Cuban Fusion in April which is then back to back with Atlantic Discoveries. At 25 days it will be our longest cruise yet and good practice for a world cruise. All we have to do now is win the lottery to be able to afford that one!!!

  4. We live in the UK and new(ish) to RCCL having only had a B2B on Freedom in May which we loved! We actually should be on another Freedom B2B right now which we had to cancel due to health issues but hopefully all should be well to enable us to take the Oasis B2B we have booked for next May. That's the background!

With our bookings we got the Select Drink Packafe included and On Freedom we were able to upgrade the drinks to Premium for $10 each per day plus 18% gratuity and I understood from reading the forums that we would be able to do this for the cruise next year but to the new Deluxe one. My partner emailed RCCL but they advise we can do this for 'about $15 each per person per day' Does the drinks package vary in price depending on the ship?

  5. Thanks everyone! I'll just take my Sketchers and maybe(hopefully) visit the gym! We had our first RCCL cruise on Freedom in May (B2B) and loved it which was good as we had the same already booked for September! Just sorry she's moving to the Mediterranean....we've consoled ourselves by booking Oasis for next May.

Thanks again for your friendly advice.

    Kind regards,

    Gill

  6. Specifically on Freedom (September) and Oasis (May). We cruised on Freedom this last May but didn't make it to the gym but hope to do when we cruise again in September. I fully intend to make better use of the walking track on deck...other than just for walking to the bar or for food (!) but feel a litlle more exercise would help.

Many thanks in advance for any guidance.
