Thank you everyone for your helpful replies!! Looking forward to our first Independence cruise!!
-
You do get the special cup with any unlimited beverage package.
Thanks for the quick reply Bob! Will we be able to fil this at any of the bars? Thank you!
-
We are going on Independence on 2 September for the first time having sailed previously on Freedom and Oasis from Port Canaveral. Just read today that on the cruises from the UK there are kettles and tea and coffee making facilities in the cabins. Can any recent cruisers confirm this please? It will save me an early morning walk to the Promenade Cafe for my first cup of tea!!
Also, I know there aren't any Freestyle machines on Independence but do you get any drinks mug/container for taking a cold drink up on the sun deck? We have the deluxe drinks package included.
Many thanks in advance for any responses.

We have had an email this afternoon from Thomson who advise..
' For all our cruises, we'll organise a group Visa for British or Irish passport holders. ...'
So hopefully all will be well!!

Many thanks for your quick response! It would be really helpful if you could let me know how you get on. Looking through many forums and posts there is so much conflicting information! We only booked this cruise last week and hadn't envisaged going to Cuba before.
Kind regards,
Gill and Malcolm

Hi Peter and Jenny! We are doing these cruises too next April and have just noticed on another forum about the Cuba Visa requirement. We're researching this at the moment but it would appear that Thomson changed their way of dealing with this from May 2017 ...and our brochure was is an 'old' one! ...and it is now our responsibility to obtain the Visa not theirs!!! As you will be aware with the cruises we'll be doing visit Cuba more than once including overnight and on first glance the Tourist Card/Visa only covers a single entry and covers thirty days.
We're not sure about what we'll do about this and wonder if you had discovered this since your original post.
At least we've got plenty of time to sort it out!! We're actually going on Discovery 2 a week on Sunday (18th) on a back to back!
Kind regards,
Gill and Malcolm
.
Thanks for the advice, we are really looking forward to this one. Sorry we are not on the January one but we are joining for the Cuban Fusion in April which is then back to back with Atlantic Discoveries. At 25 days it will be our longest cruise yet and good practice for a world cruise. All we have to do now is win the lottery to be able to afford that one!!!Peter and Jenny

Thank you for taking the time to post the review. We're on Independence in September for the first time having been on Freedom and Oasis.
-
We had this on our recent Oasis cruise and thought it was awful! Trivialised a very serious thing.
-
Nothing publicly announced by the cruise line with regard to Freestyle machine installation.
Thanks Bob! Not been on a Royal Caribbean cruise without but the refit won't affect our September cruise.
-
Does anyone think she may get Freestyle machines? Going on Independence in September and will miss these machines! Founds them really good on our recent Oasis cruise ....and Freedom last year.
-
3 sleeps but two days until Oasis on Sunday!!
-
Following too!! We're on Oasis on 7 May - first time Oasis. Did Freedom May 2016 which we loved!!
Looking forward to reading anything you post! Have a wonderful time!!
-
All I can say is THANK YOU!! You have brightened my days with your reports and I'm missing you already!!! We sailed on Freedom last May which we loved....had to cancel another Freedom in September (medical reasons) ...and going on Oasis this May (put the pins away that you've got ready to stick in me!!)
So just thank you! And safe journey home to you and Jelly.
-
Thank you so much for taking the time to do all this! We're on Oasis B2B on 7 May and now know we're in a 'right is right' Cabin! Enjoying your cruise with you!!!
-
Thank you for taking the time to post such interesting review/s!! We are doing a B2B on Oasis in May - our first time on her so your review was very helpful.
-
Our first Oasis cruise ! Doing B2B 7 and 14 May and have booked our shows today. I had so many diary entries to check when booking was available so surprised and pleased it's so soon!
Hope this information helps others!!
-
Thanks Clarea. I did wade through that but could only see the $10 to increase so wondered if they were quoting $15 as it was for Oasis this time. I have taken some screen shots of various posts which we will take on the cruise with us and will see what happens!!

We live in the UK and new(ish) to RCCL having only had a B2B on Freedom in May which we loved! We actually should be on another Freedom B2B right now which we had to cancel due to health issues but hopefully all should be well to enable us to take the Oasis B2B we have booked for next May. That's the background!
With our bookings we got the Select Drink Packafe included and On Freedom we were able to upgrade the drinks to Premium for $10 each per day plus 18% gratuity and I understood from reading the forums that we would be able to do this for the cruise next year but to the new Deluxe one. My partner emailed RCCL but they advise we can do this for 'about $15 each per person per day' Does the drinks package vary in price depending on the ship?

Looking forward to reading it! Thank you.
-
Following with interest! We are on Oasis for the first time B2B next May!
-
Thanks everyone! I'll just take my Sketchers and maybe(hopefully) visit the gym! We had our first RCCL cruise on Freedom in May (B2B) and loved it which was good as we had the same already booked for September! Just sorry she's moving to the Mediterranean....we've consoled ourselves by booking Oasis for next May.
Thanks again for your friendly advice.
Kind regards,
Gill

Thank you! I'll think of the walking track as vertical sunbathing!
Kind regards,
Gill (short for Gillian)
-
Nothing very strenuous! Maybe the treadmill, static bike and cross trainer. I do have trainers (sneakers? I'm from the UK) but don't want to bring them with me just for the gym.
-
Specifically on Freedom (September) and Oasis (May). We cruised on Freedom this last May but didn't make it to the gym but hope to do when we cruise again in September. I fully intend to make better use of the walking track on deck...other than just for walking to the bar or for food (!) but feel a litlle more exercise would help.
Many thanks in advance for any guidance.
