I have a feeling that we are going to like Windstar, too. However, we will need to wait until December 2015 or January 2016 for our first sailing with them. We previously booked another cruise for January 2015 and we want to try that first as we will most likely book Windstar every year after that sailing.

Hi,
We are considering a Caribbean sailing on the Wind Surf in January 2015. The things that attract us to Windstar is that it is smaller and goes to ports that the large cruise ships cannot go. When we cruise, we rarely participate in the activities. We mainly cruise for relaxation.
With this said, I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with:
1 - right now I see promos for 2-for-1 pricing that expire December 31. Is this a marketing trick or will prices truly rise after the 31st?
2 - considering the Wind Surf only has 310 passengers, do the sailings fill up fast?
3 - we typically book suites on the large ships mainly to have the ship within the ship feel. Considering the fewer number of people on the Wind Surf, I am wondering if we need to book a suite. Does anyone know the added amenities a suite has? So far it seems it is just size. With 310 passengers, I don't need to be concerned with priority boarding, etc.
Thanks!

Hi,
I am thinking about booking a cruise with Windstar. Does anyone know anything about them?

While taking those pics three Fedora-wearing hipsters told us those plastic chairs cost $600 a piece! Thats all i'm saying lol
If the chairs are real then the actual price for the ghost chairs is $330

Personally I think it will be closer to $10-$15. Tea and sweets would be WAY over priced at $25-$30
Actually $25-30 for high tea is a good deal. It typically goes much higher than that here in DC. I think I paid $50 per person at the Ritz a few years ago.

I haven't been on Norwegian boards for a few months but thought I'd check to see if anyone else received a call regarding the POA. This morning, I received a phone call from NCL who wanted to explain to me what my room looks like and contains. I thought it odd since my sailing isn't until 2015. Now I know why I received the call.

What books did you read?

Every request we made was there, too.
-
Has anyone had recent luck with their requests being met?
I can let you know in a week and a half, after I get back. :)

Gambee - your pics and review inspired me to get a new camera so that I can do the same in a couple of weeks. I got the Sony HX30V

I'm curious what camera you used. I am thinking about getting a new one before our Sky trip in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the number! I just called and the person I spoke with asked me what type of coffee and tea I wanted, if I wanted extra towels and pillows, and some other questions that I just can't remember at this time. LOL
She also put in a special request for dark chocolate strawberries to be in our suite as a little anniversary surprise. They are usually milk chocolate but we both prefer dark.

Can I used the concierge number for the Sky, too? Or is it just for the 7+ day cruises?

Last year cruise passengers didn't need a visa but they changed their policy this year because they lost money from that policy. I got this information directly from the consulate office.

Do you think that the ship being half full may have an impact on your evaluation? If the ship is half full, the kitchen staff may be under less stress and have more time devoted to each meal they prepare. Just wondering if you think this had any impact.

Thanks for the tip. 17001 is available during our Mediterranean sailing so I switched rooms. :-)

I'm doing this to DW....she doesn't know yet either. ;)
I am doing the same thing. How long are you going to wait? Will you tell on the airplane or at the port?

We did the wine package where we chose 3 bottles of the "middle grade" wines for $130 (plus the 15% tip). The bottles in this package range from $30-45. As it turns out, the 3 bottles we chose were $45 a piece so we saved $5. I don't think we will do this again because I felt "obligated" to select the most expensive bottles in order to feel that I wasn't throwing money away.

Deck - 11
Cabin # - 1505
Class – Aqua
Starboard or Port Side - Port
Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath
Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Mainly quiet but the cabin is directly below the fitness classroom. I constantly heard people dropping things while a fitness class was in session. Otherwise the cabin was quiet.
Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Perfect view, no obstructions
Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal
Was wind a problem? No
If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A
Any specific problems with this cabin? Except for the classes going on upstairs, it was a great room.
Any other comments?

Leah was our concierge a couple of years ago when we were on the Sky. She made a point in checking in with us twice a day to make sure everything was ok.
