monkey@cruise and DaKahuna -- your input would be appreciated

We are on Celebrity Millennium scheduled to arrive in Yokohama at 6:30 am on Sunday, April 20, 2025.  We would be waiting on line to walk off with luggage once ship is cleared.  Is it possible to go thru customs and get to Haneda in time to take an 11:00 am flight back to the states?

    Thanks

A mid afternoon flight would be ok but I wouldn't do a morning flight.  We just got off the Millennium on 15/4/2024 and it was slow going through customs and immigration at the pier.  Plus, once you get to Haneda it is also a time consuming process.  They advise arriving three hours before ones flight.  The process is stressful enough without adding to it with short arrival times.

  2. Can any of you give me an approximate time for disembarkation in Athens?    We will be on the Infinity for the 9/17/19 sailing from Rome which finishes in Athens.  I'm trying to arrange a hotel pick up time as we will be staying on for another five days.   I know the ship docks at 5 AM but what would you guess the actual time will be to disembark without rushing to get off?

    Thanks!

  3. I know this is a trivial question but we haven't sailed on Princess in eight years and I am seeking an update.  Is Bingo as big an activity on Princess as it used to be?   We are leaving for Mexico soon and I need to know should I pack my dauber or not.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I didn't believe Choice Air could get me anything better than I could find myself. I had planned on using miles to pay for my wife's ticket, and then buy my ticket through the airline. Checked Choice Air and found I could basically get both tickets for the same price as just one. Not sure if I will get any mileage credit for the flight, but it cost me the same and I didn't have to use my miles. (Flights were round trip to Rome.) It doesn't hurt to check.

We have used Choice Air on several cruises and have always received mileage on our miles program for these flights.

  5. We are just back from the 10 day Ultimate Caribbean on the Equinox. The cruise and the ship were great. However, when we diembarked in Ft. Lauderdale, TSA/Customs had only two stations open for a ship of 2,800+ passengers trying to clear at the same time. This was a Monday morning and there were also three people standing around drinking coffee. It took us close to two hours to clear and we were off early since were gong on a ship's excursion as we had a late flight. I pitied the poor people in line trying to make a flight before noon.

Keep this in mind when booking your flights home from Fort Lauderdale!

  6. When we sailed on the Millennium in January, we would frequently meet friends in Cellar Masters. Chat up the sommelier there early in the cruise as they often have deals on the wine card that you have to buy for the machines. We got several glasses of wine comped plus quite a few extra dollar value on the card we bought.

It is handy if you want to sample a new wine that is quite expensive as you can get one ounce pours. The wines that are in the machines are often the types that passengers request be in them and on that cruise there were a lot of inexpensive wines that I didn't care for. If you don't like what the offerings are, mention to the sommelier and they will often put your request in the next time that they change the bottle.

We often found Cellar Masters to have quite a few people socializing before dinner on the last couple of cruises that we took since it was right beside the entrance to the MDR and close to Blu. If we had to wait for a table in Blu, we would just go back there for a glass of wine.

We were on the Millie last January too and loved the Cellar Masters. We were there every night before dinner and so enjoyed it. On the Mille, the CM was an open room passageway where you walked from one area of the ship to another and was right before the MDR. It was great to have your glass of wine and watch the passing parade of folks. The wines were reasonable and a fairly good assortment. Now, on the Solstice last May for the Alaskan Inside Passage cruise, we checked the wines and prices as soon as we got on board. They were comparable to what we experienced on the Millie. But, after we sailed and we went for our first glass of wine before dinner, we found the wines the same but the prices had doubled and sometimes tripled!!!!!! $58.00 for a glass of wine should be a pretty special glass of wine in my book. These wines did of warrant these prices. Consequently, no one was in the CM the entire cruise. Plus on the Solstice, the CM is in a separate room cut off from the flow of traffic.

We'll be sailing again this January on the Solstice. It will be interesting to see if the prices are still astronomical.
