  1. We had C727 on both the Island and the Coral (same cabin but opposite side) and loved them both. We could see around the corner to most of the aft. Both balconeys were completely uncovered and both trips to Alaska were just fine without being covered.

  2. We got ours free in the casino. They are a different style to the ones they sell. Our casino ones were not as long, and black curly plastic. If someone can tell me how to post a photo, I would

Here are a couple of photos of the lanyard that we got on the Coral Princess in May. It was not the typical lanyard that we got on the Island in May 2009, but the stretchy, curly almost phone cord type style. It worked well for use in the casino but kind of cumbersome if you tried to use it around your neck. My husband used his to attach to a belt loop and then he put his card in his pocket.

I've found a great use for mine while traveling - I attach it to the cover of my Kindle so that I don't leave it in a pocket on a plane or something. I had a scare and thought that I had left my Kindle on the plane but hadn't. I decided right then and there that I needed to attach the Kindle to my body on future travel. I have a lighted Kindle cover so, I attached the lanyard ring to the stretchy elastic that holds the front and back together when closed. Then I clip the little clip to my shirt or belt loop or something on me. Works for me!

  3. I found out as soon as we started unpacking. We had a mini-suite and the inside of the bathroom door had two hook-type thingys to hang the robes on.

So glad I saw this --we will be on the Island P--and I have been wondering how that would work. There is a chid's bath organizer that I think will work well also --how many towel bars in the mini-suite bathroom?

We were on the Island two years ago in a mini suite. There was only one towel bar over the tub that held your bath towels.

  4. On our cruise on the Coral to Alaska last month, we took our "over-the-door-shoe-organizer-dealy. I wondered why we took it and didn't use it on our previous cruise and I found out as soon as we started unpacking. We had a mini-suite and the inside of the bathroom door had two hook-type thingys to hang the robes on. So, the shoe-dealy wouldn't work on the inside of the bathroom door. The hooks that go over the top of the door prevented the door from closing properly and the hooks fell off just trying to close the door.

We ended up using it in the closet and just hung it from the bar. Of course, since we only took half of the clothes that we took on our last cruise, we had plenty of room to hang the shoe-dealy. Even though there were only two of us, it really helped to keep the room organized. I could tell my DH exactly which pocket to find the "where's my _________" or "what did you do with the _____________".

Works for some folks and others find it a waste of time and money. You decide....:D

  5. This is going to sound dumb -I always take a night-light - but have

NEVER found a place to plug it in - in the bathroom - where is

    that plug-in located ???

We just got off the Coral and there was NO regular 2-prong outlet in the bathroom but there was an outlet in the hallway/entrance to the cabin. We were on the Island in the exact same cabin/mini-suite two years ago and I ran an extension cord from that outlet (which is just outside around the corner from the bathroom) to the bathroom and plugged my nightlight into the extension cord. Worked out just fine.

This time, I just took a small battery operated/flameless candle (120+ hours) that I bought at the Dollar Tree and set it on the sink counter. It worked well, never ran out of juice, and gave just enough light as to not completely wake us up on our late night trip! :p

  6. Some of you have indicated that you received the thick, plush robes as part of this package...but the Princess website specifies "waffle robes"...? I'm wondering if they changed the package recently?

    Deluxe Honeymoon / Anniversary

    This package includes:

All the benefits of the above Honeymoon/Anniversary Package plus these fabulous upgrades:

    * Champagne breakfast in bed - a half bottle of French champagne delivered with breakfast to your stateroom the morning of your choice

    * Two Princess Cruises waffle robes - gifts for you to take home

    * A visit to the Lotus Spa® - one 25-minute therapeutic massage or facial per person

    * Canapés or petit fours delivered to your stateroom on a selected evening

    * A personalized invitation from the Captain to visit the bridge while in port

    * 14-piece Godiva heart-shaped box of chocolates

We just got back from our cruise and we had ordered the Deluxe Anniversary package. They waited until the LAST day of our cruise before putting our robes in our cabin. We had just returned from the Ultimate Ship Tour to find two PLUSH robes waiting for us. I thought that they were part of the pkg of goodies we got on the tour so I called the front desk to find out when we might get our WAFFLE robes. I was informed that the robes had just been delivered. I told them that we had NOT received the waffle robes, but had received the plush robes.

Someone called us back to ARGUE with me that we received the plush robes because that is what they give for the Deluxe Anniversary package. Luckily, I had printed out the email from Princess stating what you quote above - that they are the waffle robes. The person arguing with me over the phone finally came up to our room just after we received our package from the Ultimate Ship Tour which included the PLUSH robes. The man continued to argue with me that we were only entitled to PLUSH robes for the Anniv. Pkg. and pretty much shoved the one he was carrying into my face. I showed him my email from Princess and he borrowed it to take and show someone else.

About five minutes later he returned carrying the WAFFLE robes! Huh! I told you so. He was not a very happy camper, but I explained to him that we just received two plush robes - we did not need TWO MORE!!!! Really?? We would not have bought two different packages with the same robes. He continued to tell me that the plush ones worth $100 vs $45 for the waffle robes. Fine and dandy, but we don't WANT four of the same robes!!!

Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now. I would suggest that you print out any info you find or have emailed to you describing what robes you will get. That way, if they give you the plush and that's what you want, super. If they give you the plush and you want the waffle, whip out your correspondence from Princess and ask for the waffle robes.

We also got the couple's massage - but upgraded to a 50 minute for each of us. I've been getting therapeutic massage for about 15 years and just haven't managed to talk my husband into one. After the one on the ship, he decided that he loved it and we booked another one hour couple's massage! I was shocked. Now he agrees to see my massage therapist now that we are home!

The canapes/petit fours - we received them every night around 5-6pm. My husband enjoyed them, but I didn't really care about them - nothing worth writing home about in IMHO.

The visit to the Bridge was really awesome. We didn't meet the Captain, but a young Cadet took us on our tour and he was spectacular - you could really tell that he had a passion for what he was doing. His father was a cruise ship Captain so he had grown up with it. We also went to the bridge with the UST (and did meet the Cpt.) but learned much more one-on-one with the Cadet.

Sorry about the ranting about the robes, but I just read your post and it really struck a nerve since we just went through this experience about four days ago! I'm adding photos of the robes to compare the two - the last photo shows the difference in thickness with the waffle on the left and plush on the right. We haven't opened them up yet, but you can see the logo on the plush robe and there IS one on the waffle. You can also see/feel the robes in one of the boutiques on-board if you need help deciding which one you prefer - IF you get the choice. :)

  7. Living in Michigan, you'll use the thick fluffy robes a lot. Unfortunately for us, living in Key West, they are still just hanging in the closet. It's never been cold enough to wear them. :( or :D

Bugger, you are so right - you probably won't get as much use as we will. We have a hot tub that we use a ton, and I like to wear thick fluffy robes out to get in to the tub during the winter. Then I bundle up in my robe and trudge through the snow to get back to the back door!

So, just feel free to ship yours to Michigan! :D

  8. Thank you SO much for the pictures and descriptions. I can already tell that I'll be picking through to find what appeals to me. I'm a country gal and most of that seems a bit foreign to me for breakfast.

Thanks for the tip about heading to the MDR afterwards! :D

I AM excited for the robes, however!

  9. Thank you for your thoughts and for mentioning the breakfast issues. Honestly, that's one of the things I was wondering about. Since you can already order room service for free, I wondered if there was anything "special" about the breakfast. I don't mean to sound like a snob, but I'm picky about my hot breakfast and will probably find that it's not hot enough for me either.

Looking forward to all of the goodies though! Thanks again for your help.

  10. Hello fellow cruisers. We are sailing on the Coral in a couple of weeks and decided to spring for this package. I'm just curious to see if anyone has purchased the Deluxe Anniversary Package on any recent cruises.

If so, what were your likes vs dislikes (if any) of the package?

Would you do it again and why?

Would you NOT do it again and why?

Thanks for any help or input that you might have.

  11. If anyone is interested, I found a crossword book at the Dollar General Store that is shaped like a cruise ship and all of the puzzles are related to ships and all that they entail. The book was less than $2 and I found it in the coloring book/puzzle book/paperback asile of the store. This would be a really neat item to put in a cruise gift bag or just take along to enjoy on the balcony. This was such a nifty little item that I'm heading back to pick-up a few more before they're gone. :)

Oh, how cool is that? I'll have to get to our DG asap! Thanks for the tip.

  12. I know I responded to you on another post as well. Hopefully you can share how to enjoy the secret deck! Looks like we will be enjoying this room 2 weeks after you!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It's so quiet at the back of the ship. And, we walked off many pounds going to/from the dining rooms!

  13. I'm thinking that this is worth a bump up.

I, too, find the planning as much fun as the cruise. I'm a little OCD and must be organized and research our cruise as much as I can! If I don't log on to CC at least a few times a week (I'm down from a few times a day) I feel a bit detached.

How do y'all organize your planning?

  14. Slippers to buffet sounds comfy!! I'm very excited to lounge in my PJs whilst enjoying breakfast on my balcony! :D OMG two more days of work and then I leave for vacation!!!

I hope you can sleep between now and then! You enjoy your trip and your balcony!!

  15. heehee this thread was amusing! :p I'm a first timer cruiser leaving on Friday for our cruise (woohoo!) and I will proudly be wearing my lanyard :D I wear one at work everyday too but I think there will be enough clues that I'm not at work anymore to let a little lanyard bug me ;)

I even went to KMart to pick up a waterproof one that ziplocks shut so I don't have to carry around a purse off the cruise ship. Sweet! Honestly, I could care less if I look silly to anyone else, I'm not there to please anyone except myself and my DH! To each their own, but what's the use in judging those who do want to wear one? We don't judge you for not wearing one ;)

    Enjoy your cruise OP!

Amen Sister! I completely agree with not judging people whether they/we wear lanyards or not. I also don't bother with a purse on board - I'm on VACATION after all! As for some of us OCD sufferers, knowing that my cabin key is attached to my body in some way without me having to look in my purse or pocket 5 times before I close the door, I LOVE my lanyard, thank you very much!

I'm not cruising to impress people - I'm there to enjoy time spent with my DH. Oh, by the way, I HAVE worn my slippers to the buffet too!

  16. I really wanted to have a port side cabin w/ a balcony for a May 2011 Alakskan cruise on the Coral. Was offerred cabin B730 as my only choice through my TA. Does anyone see that this would be OK or not a great location. It is really AFT. I am wondering if I went to Princess directly if they would have better selection of cabins. Thoughts ? (I have never cruised myself, so don't know much about aft or midship or forward- BUT am on the Ruby Sept 2nd.as my 1st cruise!!) This cruise I am buying as a gift, so I want to be sure the cabin is decent!:)

Everyone is different in their cabin preferences, but we had room 727 on the Caribe deck and loved it so much we booked the same room on our next trip in May 2011. Our room was the very last/back room on that level and we absolutely loved it! There were two occasions that I felt just a slight rolling motion during the night when the ship picked up speed a little bit, but it was actually rather calming and lulling while sleeping. Otherwise, we really didn't feel any motion - even while spending most of our time on the ship out on our balcony.
