  1. Without descending to crassly specific numbers, how much OBC are we talking here, and what scale of FCC? Was it announced, or did you get a letter with a specific amount (which makes me think it varies by category).

The nightmare scenario for me is a percentage of fare paid for either/both, as our first leg is the “free” sailing from a move-over offer.

I don’t know if it’s a “secret” or not, but OBC offered was $150/pp and I believe 15% of what you paid, discount for future cruise.

It was announced overhead and included in written form with our Princess Patter.

It is disappointing for us because we are traveling as an extended family with a private chartered fishing excursion plan for Ketchikan. So we had to quickly try to make new plans as we were sailing out of Skagway before we lost reception haha. And not to mention reaching out to the company we used about a refund since it was past the cancellation time frame. Luckily, they were very accommodating.

  2. Yay done! $163.30 cancellation fee for the flight, and rebooked it at a price that was slightly more than we paid for, so in total about $210. No getting around the flight thing. And cruise name was corrected without any fees. Thank you everyone for the advice!

  3. So called last night, air department was closed, but the gentleman who helped me said likely have a fee for flights to cancel and rebook her. Although in his experience, they have been able to negotiate with airline to waive that fee. So called today, and I was quoted about a $210 price to cancel and rebook for flight. and we won't be able to get anything back from what we pay for the original flight.

But then I asked about changing the name on the cruise itself too, and she said we might have to rebook her on the cruise as well since we start in Vancouver and go to Alaska, and it's international, so we have to use her passport. Because I asked about if we can still board the cruise with her driver's license or green card that shows her maiden and married last name. but since we booked through big box TA, she can't discuss the financials with me and I have to call TA. So now I'm hold there...

Big lesson learned. Ask for everyone's passport before booking! Or...everyone can book their own things next time and I'm not organizing family trips anymore haha.

  4. How was her plane ticket booked and what name is on it? EZ Air, or ticketed separately by the TA? Either way, the $489 sounds like it could be the airline change fee plus fare differential. It's going to be hard to get that waived since it was your error.

If it was EZ Air, then somebody at Princess is confused and needs to separate the name correction on the cruise from the reticketing of the flight so you don't lose your perks. If it was not EZ Air, then the TA should get Princess to do a regular name correction on the cruise and handle the reticketing of the air herself.

We used EZ Air. and this is a big box store “TA”.... they said it needs to be rebooked and something about an error fee of a hundred something per person and totals $489.90. Then they said other option was to just cancel her and rebook her. It’s a mini-suite with 3 people.

  5. So we’re sailing in 20 days or something. Booked my mother in law with her maiden name as middle name and her married name as last name.

Apparently we just found out, even tho she has her drivers license and her green card written as such, her passport doesn’t have her married name and her maiden name is her last name!!

We called our TA to change and says we have to cancel her and rebook her so we’ll lose the three for free perks we booked with. And there’s a $489.90 error fee. Does that sound right?

We’re flying into Vancouver from the US and sailing out of Vancouver on a Alaska cruise...

  6. What you would want to do is simply leave your luggage with the porters then head out. Do not check in until you are ready to board. In Vancouver you go through Immigration to exit Canada as you check in so leaving the terminal afterwards could be an issue.

Or is there a reason you would want to actually embark the ship and then go back out, rather than just check your luggage and see the city for a few hours?

Just to drop off luggage. We don't have to get on the ship! Thanks for the info. It's been a few years since I've cruised, forgot the details :)

  7. Hi all. We booked 3 staterooms via TA, each had OBC. One room is my mother/father-in-law who aren't into excursions. There's about $500 worth of OBC in their room. If they don't use it up, can the other 2 rooms use it or is it only for that room? Thanks!

  8. Okay, so this is quite clear to me now. You have three main choices.

    SCENARIO 1

You keep all the existing bookings. B-I-L cancels out of the Mini as 3rd passenger. No impact to the cabin "deals" and a refund of deposit comes since they are ahead of final payment. The next day, substitute B-I-L for your Mom as I assume you are primary booker in your cabin with her. You should get paid by B-I-L at least the fare he would have paid as 3rd person in the Mini. On the ship B-I-L actually stays with his parents and you have your own cabin, or move son in there - whatever.

    SCENARIO 2

You were looking to save money by dropping back two two cabins. If you cancel your booking, no impact as ahead of final payment. You would then be added as a third with husband. I gather this is impossible as your husband's balcony is for 2 occupancy, or you want a Mini if putting 3 in one cabin.

    SCENARIO 3

You cancel both balconies and re-book your own family of three into a Mini under whatever the current pricing is.

So, now it's just math. Which way - #1 or #3 - gives you the best value in your mind in terms of cost/benefit?

Thanks! I really needed to see that written all clear and precise. I ended up choosing 3. Less of a "deal" but overall spending less money.

  9. As for the airfare change, did you select “flexible”air when you booked? If so those can be changed or cancelled as often as you like as long as it’s outside of 45 days from the sailing date. If you choose the non flexible then changing them will be a problem

Yes we did. Because I’ve already changed it once on my own via Princess’s website, the price went down and I rebooked it for a lower price.

  10. Stateroom 1: Me and my mother

    Stateroom 2: Husband and son

Mini-suite: mother and father in laws, brother in law.

My mother can’t go for sure and don’t think there’s anyone to replace her.

So they said if we wanted to cancel staterooms 1 and 2 to change to a mini-suite or 3 person stateroom for me, my husband and son, we’d have to book current deals and lose out on the 3-for-free.

  11. We booked through a TA, 2 balconies during the 3-for-free promotion. But my mother just decided to not go anymore. Final payment is due 2/5/18. We want to change the booking to one stateroom for 3 people instead (husband, 3 year old son, and myself).

We also have a mini-suite booked for 3 people.

They're saying we will lose all our promotion deals (the OBC, free gratuities...) and possibly incur a fee change for the flights associated with the booking, even though we didn't pay for the flights yet. Does this sound right?

Any advice/idea on what's the best deal? Said the best they can do now is the Princess anniversary sale, which has some OBC, but no more free gratuity.

Can we theoretically move the 3rd person from the mini-suite to fill my mother's spot so we retain all the 3-for-free deals?

  12. Going as a big family in first week of May, our first Princess and Alaska cruise. Father-in-law wants to fish in at least one of the port of calls. We're stopping in Skagway (7AM-8:30PM), Juneau (6AM-4PM), then Ketchikan (10AM-6PM). Of the three, which has the best fishing? or which would you go fishing in?

Our goal is to have 1 port of call where we do something mellow together as a family, including grandparents, my son, etc., so something for all ages. and 1 port of call something a little more adventurous for the younger crowd, and then the 3rd port of call, the guys wanna go fishing, and the rest of us will just figure something out.

    So far, I was thinking...

    - Skagway - Yukon route railroad/suspension bridge - family affair

    - Juneau - maybe sea kayaking

    - Ketchikan - fishing

    Any advice/opinions appreciated. Thanks!

  13. Hello everyone, can't seem to find the answer here on the boards. We have 4 reservations booked via TA. On the TA end, she says the reservations are all linked together. But on the Princess website, how can I see them together under my profile? Is that possible? It's just tedious logging into each reservations each time I want to add something.

    Thanks!

  14. It isn't allowed on CC ...but look around; there are quite a few out there.

If you aren't picky about your room, I would wait for the 3 for free sale ... that is a great one if you are not big drinkers.

If you are picky about your room, I would go ahead and book under the current promotion so you can get the rooms you want, especially with a group, and then you can switch to a different promotion when it comes available since the Sip and Sail promo has a refundable deposit.

Alaska sometimes books quickly and pricing is dependent on how many cabins are available ... don't wait too long.

    Thank you!
