  1. You don't have to pay extra on the items that receive the 18% auto gratuity (and it's not added to ALL onboard purchases). But that money doesn't go to the same service personnel as the daily gratuity charges.

C'mon then, tell us all what an auto gratuity is,what do you pay it on,is it drinks,is it food, who gets this 18% auto gratuity, hurry up footballs on in 10 mins and there's a queue at the bar.

  2. Reading threads about this topic for more than a decade on here I doubt the numbers are changed much by these. It´s always about the same about the pro-tipping and no-tipping crowd. Yep a certain percentage will remove them and yep the percentage will vary with where the ship is sailling from, but overall, nope I don´t think it´s a majority.

I sure hope you will be honest about what you are doing onboard as well and not only at Guest Sevices, but also in the face of whoever is serving you.

Oh, just to save you a surprise, a 18% gratuity will be added to your onboard purchases and there is no way of getting that one removed.

Wow 18% on purchases on board x a couple of thousand of people on ship why pay extra

  3. I believe I NOW have the attention of the Casino Club Royale. Final tab was over 10,000 points last cruise. Others have their Genies, I now have a Senior Club Royale Representative, handling my cruising. Each time we talk, I bring up smoking. First is to tackle smoking at the Casino Bar and NOT Playing. After that, we will go for more. I have their attention now.

    Don't play then,go to Vegas instead:p

  4. Just as clarification, you don't have to prepay but gratuities will be added to your account each day. You can go to guest services and have them removed but I personally hate that this is possible. This is the salary of the staff onboard and in many cases, they send the money home to their family in many different countries.

    Oh Nooooooo:(

  5. We love going on cruises and we work very hard to save the money to go on our once a year cruise. We're diamond, but very seldom use the Diamond lounge because we usually have someone with us that wouldn't be allowed to go with us. We are the ones that look like every cruise is our first because we can't wipe the smile off our faces. We're still in awe of the ship, even if it's a ship we've been on 2 or three times before. We are taking lots of photos and wearing the dreaded lanyard. We are still amazed at the job the crew does to make our much anticipated vacation special. I'm always up early and would never think of admonishing anyone from the crew getting a cup of coffee. We listened, on our July cruise, to a table next to us with four young people (related) berate the waiter and asst waiter, the head waiter and complain about how the food was prepared...EVERY NIGHT. We were SO uncomfortable just listening to it that we almost stopped eating in the MDR. We made sure we told these folks what a great job they were doing and apologized for the rude foursome. We also sent cards to Royal mentioning the outstanding job these MDR folks did. They endured every insult with such grace. When I see some of the cabins, as I walk down the hall and the doors are open, I'm horrified for the cabin stewards. It says something about your character (or lack of) when you treat people in the service industry poorly. There's no excuse for not respecting them. None.

  6. My wife and I both smoke, drink and gamble,we were on Navigator this year and we were both enjoy playing slots in the casino .One night we were both very drunk,we had been sharing her drinks package,we were on WOLF RUN,my wife's fav machine in the smoking section,my wife lit her pipe and some woman complained about the smell,so she put it out and had a cigar instead,3 hours later and 10 rum and cokes we cashed our $1.50 out and went back to our cabin.

We had a inside virtual balcony,I opened a bottle of brandy what i smuggled on board and had a nightcap,I lit a cig,had a smoke and flicked it overboard only to bounce off the screen and land on the bed and burn a hole hole in the sheets. We were fined $250 ,luckily we had prepaid our grats,so it came out of that.Oh we complained about soot on our balcony for 3 days and they gave us 25% off our next cruise and a free meal in chops:)
