We have a rental on a truck at FLL, and wondering if anybody has booked any of these in the past?
If so, we are a family of 5, and they have these listed as quad cab, but on some car rental sites they say they can fit 5 passengers. As well, are the cargo cab covered?

There is no longer a hotel next to the Melia. It's closed to the public. Used for construction crew housing. No access thru this hotel. Casino is closed as well.
Is the Melia still a good choice for a day pass then? Has construction affected it?
-
Deerfield Beach is so close to FLL. You might be better to stay there and drive in the morning of the cruise. :)
ah yes....but, a certain family member has made sure that wouldn't be as easy as it sounds..hence, the hotel search. We are back at the condo after the cruise for a period of time, and there is a one day conflict sharing the place
-
Where are you staying in Florida for two weeks prior to the cruise?
We have a family condo in Deerfield Beach. Vacation is 13 days, 4 being on the cruise, just a short one for us.

LOL, fleabag is right! Most of all we don't want you booking in a high crime neighborhood just to save $40. The hotels I mentioned are not the greatest but they are safe and have free shuttles at least. Check reviews on tripadvisor. Also check out Best Western on State Rd 84, Quality Inn on Stirling Rd. and LaQuinta Hollywood. I think they are all budget hotels with free airport shuttles, but make sure they have the shuttles before you book.
Happy travels!:)
think we wound up getting the last room at Sleep Inn for $120 so good timing..

I think that you are saying that you don't need a hotel with a rental car drop off, but that you want a shuttle to/from the airport where you will drop off your car. And I think that you are saying that you want to drop off the car and then go to the hotel by shuttle?
Your budget is very low. Hotels close to that price (with shuttles) will be Sleep Inn Dania and Rodeway Inn Ft Lauderdale. If you can get a Valuetrips rate at Hyatt Place that will be $139. Or priceline an airport or downtown hotel.
thanks these are ideas. I see $100 is flea bag rate so may have to up it a bit..

$100 in that range. We have a rental already for close to a 2 week period so just need something somewhat close for our flight. We have the car already, but will likely need an airport shuttle.
I can also find many hotels in that range, just looking for advice from others and their experiences.

We are spending almost 2 weeks down in Florida (condo/cruise) in December and will need a 1 night reasonable hotel near FLL that has a shuttle back and forth to the airport for flights, rental car drop.
Any suggestions?

We were on her a few weeks ago and I thought she was in great shape. The food in the MDR was good and the bar staff in Schooner were fabulous. We didn't do any shows but found the guitar and piano players in Schooner to be good. Enjoy your cruise.
thanks, looking forward to the entire break from reality!
More importantly, what is a Red's fan doing in Toronto? At least the Jays made the playoffs!ha, good question! Quietly rooting for the Jays, and took my 8 year old to a game a little while ago to give her a taste of a winning team. Grew up not really following our Toronto teams, not sure why...well except for the Leafs, pretty sure why I have never followed them.

It's just that there are so many better choices. ;)
We are on Brilliance for Thanksgiving
yeah maybe I'll just cancel and find one of the better choice ships.

I don't believe that pools (other than hot tubs) are heated on Majesty.
so I see that is the case...was looking on ************* and they have it listed as heated...no big deal though, my kid's are fearless
-
think we are going to give this a shot anyhow...with 3 kid's space won't be that bad I don't think and it's a short stay...
-
going back and forth between this and a 3 day on RCI-Majesty. We have a $400 credit from RCI from our cruise last year that may sway us.
-
bumping this thread for anybody who has done Melia/Wyndham and if anything has changed?
-
Inside cabins are tiny, tiny, tiny. Good luck
I know that is the problem...we had to split us up anyhow but still tiny
-
We had a $400 credit from our Freedom of the Seas nightmare last year and put it towards this cruise so it is only running us $1,300 and change U.S. for the 3 day Bahamas cruise.
Can't be that bad for the money, and we spend time down at our family condo in Ft.Lauderdale. Have to read some reviews, and am I right the pool is heated?
-
We are thinking of doing a short 3 nighter on Majesty for mid-December and wondering thoughts on how the ship is holding up, etc? We would be taking 2 inside cabins likely for our family of 5 and curious if she is really showing her age, and how the food/entertainment has been. Granted this is a short cruise.
Thanks

It's the Dec 18th cruise (Friday). Our schools in Canada are just getting out that day, not sure about the U.S.
-
What time frame? Will it be during a school break?
mid-December...what does school break have to do with timing though?
-
mid December sailing...booze mainly?
-
We are staying at our family condo in Ft.Lauderdale area for 7 days, and thinking of a short 3 day to get away. Haven't taken a short cruise like this in our 4 cruises, can you pass on thoughts of the ship? Food, choices, upgrades etc?
-
k, help a Canuck out here. We have a courtesy hold on a cruise which comes out to about $1,950 USD, and we were asked if we want to pay in CAD when we book. How does this work?
They would convert to CAD and we would pay with CAD credit card? Tips, and drink packages are part of the fare.
Thanks and wondering if we are best to do this if we book.

What are the NCL policies in terms of changing cruises up until sail date? For instance if a better deal comes along for this sailing, or another?
-
What options are you considering if you choose not to sail the SKY?
honestly we were just looking for a not so crazy cruise to cut costs. We have sailed Royal and Carnival but no itineraries that hit the mark on price/islands, etc.
The 18th of December does GSC and Nassau over a short 3 day period, which we are not used to but just looking for a few days away from condo life and haven't tried Norwegian yet.
Question about space in a car rental
in Florida Departures

We have a rental from Enterprise/Costco: Dodge Ram or similar. You are right no coverage in cargo area. Only worry when we have our luggage..yikes if it rains
Doh me, I knew that, lol.
