  1. Does anyone know if they do Price is Right on the Viva also?
  2. I really don't believe it is to encourage people to drink in port. I can't imagine - "Gee -I really would like to drink at bar X on deck 5 of the ship. Darn it - now I have to drink at bar Y on deck 5 instead - iI think it is just easier to go down 5 decks and probably pass bar Y and 3 more bars to disembark and get a drink!" I think people are really making it out to be more than it is. You still have a bar operating on ever deck that has a bar, It's not like all the bars are open all the time on ships.
  3. we've only done 2 cruises with Canadian ports - Alaska (from Vancouver) and didn't notice anything or know it was a thing on that cruise. We did a Canada/NE with a few Canadian ports, but we still didn't really notice the closures - it was a small ship (HAL) and they keep the bar per deck open which is most popular for those hours in port (and generally where we would have been anyway). If it weren't for the signs .. I would never have known about the strange law even though we are Canadian! Hubby thinks perhaps the rule comes limiting bars on ferries.. but who knows.
  4. I can see what you're saying if ALL the bars are closed. But the rule (strange i know) is there can only be 1 bar on each deck open, so I I guess I was thinking (depending on where your room is) it may be just as easy to find an open bar on the way to the entertainment.
  5. When there is still a bar open on ever deck (that has bars) isn't it still easier to just to go the closest bar than back to your room whenever you want a drink? Not sure how stocking the room helps, unless you plan to stay in your room.
  6. I am anxiously awaiting our first time flight assignments with NCL..just looking to clarify - when you say "to get seats" you are speaking of getting assigned seats is that correct? When they said "they no longer had seats" I'm hoping they just meant you couldn't pay to choose your seat without upgrading - is that right?
  7. Like you we are new to Celebrity (1 cruise in last April). Really enjoyed it - no idea how it compared to what it might have been years earlier. At the end of the day for the price I paid, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have 2 more X cruises booked. HAL was the same for us, Had not sailed them pre Covid. Have now done 6 (and 2 booked) which we have enjoyed and a good feel for what they offer at a price point today, although many a thread to read telling me I don't know what I am missing and it sucks. I like it.... Is it different/worse than it was 5 years ago...?? Don't know and honestly don't really care, as long as I like what I get now for the price I pay now.
  8. Thanks - called our PCC and had them removed this afternoon. 🙂
  9. That's the way it was on our last HAL cruise. People stood waiting for the waiters to emerge. You would swear people had not had access to chocolate or any sweets for months ....as opposed to maybe .. like an hour ago... Not my cup of tea (not a sweets person) but it was quite a sight!
  10. We were able to edit it electronically and submitted earlier today - no printing required 😄
  11. Thanks! We were able to edit the forms and have now just sent it in 🙂 We're retired - the only thing we miss about work is that easy access to printing without having to buy ink cartridges 😄
  12. just when you book air they add them as a default . and they tell you and say .. you can just take them off later if you want.. so I just kinda left them until I look know and see how much they are compared to a cab.
  13. Haha ..no need for a printer anymore. Most things (legal) can be docusigned electronically. Got tired of having to buy a new ink cartridge every a year just to print cruise luggage tags. I don't think any young people have printers anymore .. makes us feel youthful!
  14. No not a big deal. We became printer-less about a year ago, so this it just requires me to hoof it to the library to print 🙂
  15. When we booked our NCL cruise with air, they automatically added on transfers which I would now like to remove (I assume I don't have to take them) as final payment is later this month. I don't see a way to do that on-line. Do I have to call in for that or am I missing something?
  16. Would there be an electronic form fillable pdf somewhere or does it actually require - "print , fill , sign, scan" and then email the form? I've searched and I can't find one ... seems odd
  17. I don't think you get credit. It appears you do with Celebrity and Carnival (Fly2Fun) but not NCL. Have been looking more into this lately ... The advantage is cost and a better chance you will make it to the ship if there are delays.
  18. Following as we have an NCL air booked for a cruise in January and still within the window to cancel and book our own air.
  19. Thanks Fred! I agree, RobertQ is pricey. As an example our for our upcoming cruise from Venice (booked through FLigtease with HAL), we paid less than an additional $150 each to fly form London with the Pearson connection, so would have been more expensive to fly direct from Pearson and take that bus (which is around $200 each) Will definitely look at Detroit for Florida flights as we are doing one at least one Caribbean cruise a year. Gotta look into that Florida golf thing though, we're both golfers! I'm not sure there is as much benefit with European flights or our flights back to the East Coast (gotta head home 2-3 times a year). We're quite close to Western and the Via station, so would actually just take the short Uber (or walk) to those departures from ONExBus and MegaBus.
  20. Not sure - should have asked as we had an existing booking. 😐 Pretty sure it was only for a new booking though..
  21. We did get the OBC reinstated that came with the original FCC, just not the additional $200. I have the email though .. so gosh darn it .. I'm getting it!
  22. This was found on Celebrity's site - If the flight gets cancelled or delayed and Celebrity Cruises is unable to get the guest to the ship, we will offer a Future Cruise Credit and refund the cost of the flight. Oddly for Holland (FlightEase) I see no mention of FCC is missing the cruise.
  23. I tripped on a CC article that says Carinvals Fly2Fun gives you FCC. I;'d be happy of that was the standard policy for all Carnival lines, but haven't actually read that anywhere 🙂 Edit: found it ... FLY2FUN PROTECTION All Fly2Fun bookings come with flight protection — free! That means you’re covered in case weather conditions or flight changes delay your arrival to the ship. We’ll make alternate flight, hotel and/or ground transportation arrangements and do everything we can to get you to the cruise port in time to board the ship, at no expense to you. If no viable options are available to get you to the ship before departure at the homeport, you will be given a Future Cruise Credit to use toward an alternate Carnival cruise
  24. I wonder if they had insurance that kicked in for those cases or was it just having FlightEase (or equivalent)? I kinda envisaged if it happened (and couldn't get to any further port) that maybe getting my flight refunded and maybe some FCC (if the cruise line felt generous) and then maybe something from our Credit Card Insurance, although that caps pretty low at $1500/pp . Really hoping not to find out though.....
