  1. I have read somewhere that there may be a NEW Tram that will travel from West harbour (Lansiterminaali) to downtown Helsinki? Have you heard anything about this? Have they suggested the route? Any future date as to when it may be in place? Will it replace or compliment the 15A bus that goes to the Main Railway station? Thanks for your help.

Not in the near future. It will take years to build new tram lines. So far buses 15 and 15A are the options.

  2. Thank you, NC. I was curious about ordering wine by the glass in the dining room and having the sommelier or waiter giving you a hard time about ordering more than one glass. Did anybody else who purchased the beverage package experience any attitude from the dining room staff when requesting two or more glasses of wine?

We were on Solstice on November and no problems at all. Sommeliers and cocktail waiters in MDR came to us right away and asked what we would like to have. We usually had different wine for every course and aperitive. Seemed that they were more than happy to serve customers with premium package.

We are going back to Solstice on June and will have premium package again.

  3. We were on Monday here in Helsinki in Riedel tasting hosted by Maximilian Riedel. Originally there was supposed to be VinumXL glasses (like Celebrity) but because of the production problems those were changed to Vinum series glasses (with normal availability).

I just wonder why Celebrity couldn't do the same and change the glass series to another? Neither haven't I heard a word from them about glasses not being included in our tasting eventhough my confirmation states clearly that glasses are included. And if there is a mistake in confirmation - I suppose they should have notified us already.

  4. Now we don't sail for another 4 weeks so i expect them to either

    a) send us an email explaining the error before we sail (and possibly give us the option of canceling)

    b) mention the error when we speak to either guest services of the sommelier (it is requested that we do this on our confirmation email) and to do this on the day of embarkation - again giving us the option to cancel.

    c) Say nothing and once we have done the class and ask for the glasses they then tell us it was a mistake.

Option d) Celebrity Cruises tries to use any of those options mentioned and are told about European consumer protection laws and decide to give glasses to passenger

  5. How can anyone sincerely get mad over the fact that they may not get the glasses for this price? You know the glasses are worth way more than this right?

Yes I know that, they are worth way more. However Celebrity has made a pricing and also provided information of glasses including the price. If that is their mistake then they just have to suffer it as business owners. Giving glasses isn't going to be big financial issue to them - but selling something and then not giving glasses - that can come much more expensive to them imagewise. Who can trust company which doesn't keep their promises and provides such a wrong information?

And it can happen that it isn't actually a mistake. Since they aren't giving cheaper price to all cruises - that can be also some kind of promotional act with Riedel.

  6. Just in case they are doing a bait and switch, I have printed the purchase confirmation page from the "manage my reservation" section. It clearly says we get a set of glasses. Celebrity will honor that, I am sure, as to do otherwise would raise too much of a stink on these pages and in the guest services on the ship. Riedel is subsidizing these workshops for sure so the net out of pocket to Celebrity for the glasses is low.

I printed the purchase confirmation from their website ja payment confirmation from my email for just in case. It is clearly said on both documents that glasses are included in the price.

It can be of course their mistake but they still need to provide glasses. They can't change price either because they don't reserve right to it on our confirmation. :)

  7. Interesting. I am on the Solstice in November. I just booked the Riedel Wine tasting for my sister and me on-line. Not sure if you can't book it because you are in the UK?

Also it was only $17.50 each? I verified and it does say we get the wine glasses. Wonder why the difference in price? Lower quality glasses?

We also booked online. Price was a bit over 60€ per person. 17,50$ sounds way too cheap.

  8. Thanks for the list. We have never considered the Prmium Liquor package before but may on our next cruise (fall 2011). What stops the system from being cheated by getting a drink for one's spouse from one bar and then picking up another for one's self at another?

None, I guess - it is of course based on people being honest.

And it might seem suspicious that another one on cabin would have huge bill on drinks and another one nearly none on their invoice. I am pretty sure that they monitor this somehow on those cabins where everyone hasn't bought the package.

  9. After your first cruise, you can enroll online. Yes you do receive a card, but it takes a long time to get it.

We came from cruise last wednesday and received MSC Club cards this week. I think they were pretty fast.

  10. I think they should change the service charge system. There should be tickboxes where you could mark which persons you would like to pay service money.

If the maid does good job, you could tick her title but if your dinner room waiter is bad - you could left him/her out.
