  1. Update. Captain decided the trip back to New York was too choppy so we are staying in Boston until 4:00 am. All aboard 3:00 am live it up. Casino closed tonight. Also the one shop on board for clothes, sun dries sweatshirts is closed due to renovation so everyone is walking around with Bar Harbor Maine sweatshirts. Bring warm outerwear
  2. A waste. Arrived from St John ( skipped Halifax due to hurricane). Last minute substitute. Terrible mess. Would of done better with a second relaxing day at sea. Spent an hour waiting for Silver Sea to vacate our berth. Haven waited from 12:45 in 15 minute increments until 3 to go thru immigration on the ship. Perfunctory glance. Tours left late. Pier is nowhere near anything. We got a taxi after waiting 20 minutes with the intention of going to Quincy market. The Friday night traffic was so bad , we turned around and went back to the ship. At 4:30 the ship was still discharging passengers. There was a hop on bus at the port but the last one leaves at five. Fortunately we have been to Boston many times but for someone excited to see the port it was a real waste of time.
  3. Currently on the Breakaway. Haven two bedroom, umbrella but no binoculars.
  4. We are in Bar Harbor and the sun came out. It is beautiful and I would guess maybe 68 degrees. We came up to the sundeck. Inside all the loungers are made up but outside there was no help to find cushions or towels. I scavenged and we are dozing in the sun. And would it kill them to put out a few loungers downstairs? My knees are shot.
  5. I don’t think it is, as it’s hot and muggy and there are people traipsing in and out of the hot tubs. I was told ( when I complained about the lack of sun lounges ) that people like it as it’s less cold than the Haven restaurant.
  6. Sounds like NCL will make every effort to make St John. They just moved Burn the Floor from Friday and Saturday up to Wednesday and Thursday
  7. How can they land in Canada if it’s dangerous? Can’t they get special dispensation? I do remember that we had to stop in Mexico on our round trip Hawaii ( Princess) so I guess this is the same regulations. Thanks for the input.
  8. Yes, my guess is maybe St. John and then a slow trip home. Probably hear more tomorrow.
  9. We are currently on the Breakaway in Portland Me. Tuesday, and just had a delicious lobster roll at DeMillo’s in town. tomorrow Bar Harbor. Then supposedly St John and Halifax. After the whole ArriveCAN and form filing it looks like we might skip the Canadian ports due to the Hurricane. This is the rumor mill, no official word yet. Not sure if we would substitute another port like Boston or just return early. So far the cruise has been great. The weather fairly good, comedy club fun, Six tonight, food terrific. We are in the packed Haven and my only complaint is that they took all the loungers out of the enclosed swimming pool area and replaced them with tables because the Haven restaurant can’t hold everyone. This means you have to climb stairs to the sundeck to lie on a lounge. Only warm enough the first day in Newport. Casino is jammed. Signs for no smoking but some people can’t read and the staff is afraid to say anything.
  10. We are traveling on "Connie" next June and treating our son's family. They plan to spend two days in Venice at the end of the cruise but we have been a few times and knowing us, will just want to go home. The direct flight that we are looking at leaves at 1:15 the day the ship comes into Ravenna. The ship comes into port at 6:00 Am. I have heard that ( even if Celebrity has bus transfers, they take up to two and a half hours on the road to the Venice airport and we all know that the buses take forever to load) we would be better off with a private transfer. Since we will not be spending on hotels in Venice , and picking up the meals for our kids we don't care about cost, just reliability. Does anyone have a recommendation for a car service that will pick us up at the port and hopefully get us to Venice by 10:00? Does anyone have experience with this port situation? We could go on a later flight but would have to change planes in Paris or Amsterdam and at our age that is something to avoid.
