Your problem is one of the many that are hazards when booking directly through NCL. The employees come and go and if the original person you booked with moves on and had made statements to you that turned out to be untrue, you are out of luck (meaning statements that promise you something that you will not be getting). With a travel agent you are dealing with the same person all of the time and have someones feet to hold to the fire if something goes wrong. The travel agent I use probably knows more about NCL that most of their booking people.

When it comes to cruise line travel insurance you have to remember that you get what you pay for; secondary insurance that usually requires that you file a claim with your homeowners insurer and your credit card company before they will even consider your claim.
That being said I have always bought AIG travel insurance that has gotten a bum rap by some reviewers.
We had a claim and followed all of the instructions. It took some time to fill out all of the forms but we received a check within two weeks even though we were told not to even call to check on our claim for at least six weeks.
I believe that those with bad experiences may not have followed all of the instructions and expected someone else to do all of the leg work.
Good luck.

We took the dining package and are platinum members. So, we booked our dining package reservations as soon as they were available but my travel agent told us that we could not book the platinum member dinners until we boarded. That will be one of the first things on our boarding to do list.

We have always taken the city bus when we first get off the ship. We get to the site and get tickets right away. We have done this twice with no problem. As for the Missouri all you have to do is go to the kiosk on site and get your tickets that include the shuttle and the Missouri. If you are a real WWII history buff you might want to allow for about an hour and a half for the Missouri and do a self guided tour.

We always take about a thousand dollars. We leave most of it in the cabin safe and take as much as we think we may need each day. Make sure you bring about one hundred in fives. We use this to tip the baggage handler at the port, tip those who work on the excursions (five dollars for each member of the excursion) and we always tip the shuttle drivers five dollars each way.

I don't know if this is still true but when my sister in law and brother in law did an all inclusive in Mexico they were told to stay in the resort area. But, they went into town when the cruise ships were in and there seemed to be a cop on every corner. As soon as the ships left there wasn't a cop to be found.

I am only looking for menus for the specialty dining venues.
I would like to see a menu that can be clearly read; not a photo of a menu.
I really don't even need the menus from a certain ship.
I also realize that there may be differences from ship to ship and can live with that.
The NCL web site is awful in most every way and is not helpful at all when it comes to their specialty menus.

We eat early (5:30) and had no problem booking the restaurants that we wanted. I am OCD about having my ducks in a row and always print any confirmation and keep a folder with all of my cruise, airline and excursion paperwork. If you print your confirmations and keep them with you, you should have not problems.

Depends on who you booked your tours through. We have used Shore Trips several time and have always been pleased with the results. We had one port cancelled because of rough seas and when we got home I called them and they said no problem they were aware of the cancelled port and had already credited our credit card before I even called.

Unless you are sailing Hawaii every other ship in the Norwegian fleet must stop in at least one foreign port.
Like the previous reply, leave your reservation in the name listed on your passport.

If you used a travel agent have him or her call; they usually have more pull with the cruise lines. If you booked through NCL it may be a little tougher as they tend to tow the company line; "that's our policy and I can't make an exception".

When we cruised out of Miami two years ago we were gold and they had a separate line for gold and platinum. Everyone on your booking could use this and there was no one in line so we went right up to the desk. They may have changed this to platinum and above; I really don't know. We are in luck as we went to platinum after that cruise.

I don't know where you booked your cruise but I have always used the same travel agent. A good travel agent would have covered these requirement with you. Our grandchildren have always had passports from infants on. You can't go wrong if you have this document.

Make sure you have staterooms above and below you. Also, my mother in law and sister in law have problems with the motions of the ship and start taking Dramamine the day before we sail, that seems to solve the problem for them as the first day on the drug can be a little uncomfortable.

We are always back one hour before departure. We don't want to see a video on utube with us starring as pier runners. It may be amusing to others but not to those who get left behind. It would be a very expensive late fee.

Latitudes members of platinum and above get the ship tour for free as a perk. I don't really know if they are available outside of the rewards program.

Whenever we don't use the cruise line excursions we have found good vendors at Trip Advisor and another good site that we have had great luck with is Shore Trips. Good luck.

Your problem with PCC is one of the reason I have been using the same travel agent for years. If I have a problem she returns my calls, usually by the end of the day that I email her. With a PCC and you have a problem, good luck. You may even get someone else who will say that the person you used no longer works there and if the problem concerns a promise made to you they can always say that the promise should not have been made and you are out of luck.

No, it is only up two levels. You had balcony so the next levels are mini suite and suite. They don't make distinction between sub categories. Just full categories (those being: inside, outside, balcony, mini suite, suite).

Incorrect, we had a BB and were offered to bid on H4, H5 and GV.

I thought I read here on CC that you can only bid up 2 levels, in that case it would only be balcony or mini suite. Please correct me if I understood this wrong.
We have a BB balcony booked on the Jade and were offered to bid on H4, H5 and GV. So I do not believe that it is only two catagories up but depends how popular the cabin you are in may be as they can quickly rebook your cabin; even in the week before sailing.

After reading the letter from NCL I would have to be on the phone immediately as there is no mention of any compensation for independently purchased travel insurance which has to be booked within fifteen days of the initial booking.

I went to the review section and putting the cursor over the members name will not do anything. I just wish that, at least, CC would reply to my email.

My understanding of cruise line insurance is that it is NOT a primary insurance and that's why it is so much cheaper than other travel insurance. You are required to file a claim with your credit card and homeowners insurance before they will pay anything. I always insure my trip with AIG and had only one claim. I followed their instructions implicitly and got a check within two weeks of filing. I believe that those who have had trouble with AIG do not carefully follow the instruction which are kinda' tough to get through but not impossible.

I have contacted but not received and answer from Cruise Critic over my concern that since they revamped their member cruise reviews, I can no longer click on the number of reviews by a member and see the other reviews that they have posted. I like to use this to gauge whether they like or dislike every cruise. Anyone have a tip as to how I can look up a members other reviews?
When was the earliest a bid was accepted

On another thread I read that one passenger was given the thumbs up on his bid 60 days before his cruise. My son had a bid accepted only 5 days before his cruise. So, my guess would be that it could be at anytime after being offered.
