  1. We have an upcoming cruise on Princess- we have always been able to reserve shore excursions in advance with the option of paying with our onboard account. Any OBC is then credited. Easy & efficient. BTW we never received any reply to our request for help from AZ as indicated above.

  2. It would be awesome if this happened. Coming from sailing DCL for years - who allows you to pre-book specialty dining and excursions, but doesn't charge until the day of the booking, and then to your onboard account - having to pre-purchase excursions through Celebrity and pay before the cruise just seemed odd to me. I didn't realize until we did some more research that DCL's policies are not the norm.

I think Princess does it this way too ~ at least they used to.:)

Yes they do-we have excursions pre-booked for a trip in June on Princess.

  3. Hi jkadventures,

I'm so sorry you're having this difficulty. We certainly don't want you to 'move on'!

I've passed your post along to a senior manager on the Customer Service side of things. He'd like you to email your name, booking ID number and the best phone number/email address to contact you on. He promises to look into it personally for you.

It's odd you're still having trouble with this issue. Did you contact our office through the email address I gave you back on 1/24/17? A supervisor was standing by to help you.

As an update, customer service was contacted and given the info as suggested--we received a voice mail directing us back to the 800 number (which was what we first tried and were unsuccessful!). We chose this trip based upon the dates, itinerary, and most of all, the rave reviews from the AZ faithful. While we're sure the onboard experience is as good as everyone says, planning & booking the trip just shouldn't be so cumbersome and fraught with difficulties. Not to be repetitive, but the planning and anticipation of our trips is a big part of our love of travel. Quite frankly with reading the many current threads of changed itineraries, inaccurate Land Discovery descriptions and departure times, and our own difficulties, doesn't make a great first impression. We're very hesitant to obligate any more funds and more importantly precious vacation time to this venture.

  4. We have been trying for several days to book Land Discoveries for our first AZ cruise this September. We will not lock in our airfare until we are sure we can take the AZ excursion from Civitavecchia to FCO on our last day. Unfortunately, again, attempts to book these online have been unsuccessful. We log into our AZ, it shows our booking, and then says either "booking cannot be retrieved" or "system maintenance" (this has been going on for days). We went through tremendous frustration just trying to book this trip online last year as the system did not recognize any benefits (such as online booking bonus & a sale that was going on). Even after it was finally booked, we didn't get an automatic confirmation nor were any of these benefits attached to the booking. Several more calls to the 800 number finally got these done and we thought we were all set. When we asked for help here, the repeated advice was use a TA. I have self-booked dozens of cruises and trips worldwide and never had issues like this before. I enjoy doing the research and making the arrangements myself. This trip will cover a very significant life event for us and we chose it based on all the positives we have read. Once again, we are strongly considering abandoning this effort and moving on to something with a more fluid customer service process. If there are any hints on booking Land Discoveries (other than using a TA) we'll give them a shot. Thanks.

  5. We are departing on a June 17, 2017 Crown Princess cruise to the Fjords and decided to spend our one pre-cruise night in Southampton proper. Still looking at transportation options from LHR to Southampton but folks on our roll call gave some good suggestions. We will do one night post-cruise at the LHR Hilton which has great access to the airport & ground transportation. Princess also has a post-cruise excursion which brings you to Stonehenge and then drops you at LHR. Since we don't fly out till the next AM, this seems a good option.

  6. We were on a cruise this past March to the Caribbean. On a sea day, there came an excited announcement from the Captain about a sight to behold and the CD would be on to explain it all. A very breathless CD starts to tell everyone to look to the starboard side and we would see a rescue mission never undertaken before. An international aid mission was towing an iceberg to bring needed water to a country experiencing a severe drought. Everyone was rushing to the side to see this amazing humanitarian operation and the CD was really playing up the story until he says "April Fools Day"!! [emoji57]. He got everyone good on that story! Hope this cheers you up! Feel better and hope you get to go on your planned cruise.
