  1. I just booked a 14 day Journey cruise on the Pride. If you have taken one of these long cruises I am hoping you can give me some advice. 1. Can you double the amount of soda / wine you can bring since it's for 2 weeks instead of one? Do you usually bring 2 weeks worth of clothes or take 1 week and do laundry for the second week? That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  2. Hi!

We have booked a Christmas cruise on Carnival Magic because of the interesting ports. It is our first time on Carnival (cruised with other cruise lines, mostly Royal and Celebrity). I started to hesitate and wanted to cancel but unfortunately it is not possible because of the high cancelling fees (we live in northern Europe so we have a different kind of cancellation policy).

Now I am thinking we have to make the best of it. Do you have any suggestions for the cruise? How to make a Carnival cruise extra special? I have made a steakhouse reservation for the Christmas Eve. We booked a spa inside cabin so we can escape the crowds. Something else?

    I appreciate any comments.

The first thing we do is turn off our phones and put them in the room safe. We do no internet plans. We are on vacation and do not have to keep in touch. For emergencies they can call Carnival with our Ship name. Then we relax, enjoy, and try not to find fault with anything.

  3. First let me say that my wife and I are experienced cruisers and have cruised on Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian, and Royal thus far. This post is not meant to bash on Carnival in any way... just looking for opinions. Does anyone else notice that it seems like Carnival is really going down hill quality wise? Food problems (quantity, variety, and temperatures), customer service issues, common area ship and stateroom cleanliness complaints, poor entertainment, etc. Is it just me or does it seem like Carnival is having problems? Our last Carnival cruise was very disappointing and we both agreed that our Carnival days were over until changes were made. Many small things like return guest perks, mints on the pillows, and complimentary toiletries in the stateroom bathrooms, to much larger issues like food, cleanliness problems, and a general feeling of a lack of concern for customer satisfaction. It also seems to me like the fleet is showing signs of age and they do not seem to be keeping pace with other lines in regard to introducing newer ships with more current features. I do understand that they try to be the "value" line and must keep costs low, but it just seems like their has been a real effort to take away the few last remaining reasons that we would choose to sail with them in the future.

Just my opinion but in todays economy shortcuts are taken in every industry/business. Less sales people on the floor at any time. Price increases at restaurants and hotels. Price of movies and concessions is outrageous. I think the value is good for the price of a cruise and what you receive in return.

  4. I give them the emergency contact number for the ship.

If it is not an emergency, I do not want to hear from anyone at home when on vacation.

Everyone can catch up when we get home.

I agree. Except one time we took grandson and nephew and midway through cruise they called home on the room phone to let their parents know they were ok. Very minimal charge for one minute.

  5. Since I booked Early Saver, I watch for price drops diligently. Yesterday ours dropped by $72. I decided to wait till this afternoon to see if it might drop more. It did. It went down by $252! We booked an Ocean Suite on the Vista. Since it’s a new ship and a category with limited cabins available, we didn’t really expect it to drop much at all. Especially since we got such a good deal on it in the first place. I’m so happy! That just paid for our internet and bottomless bubbles. :D I hope you guys get some good price drops too. Let me know if you do.[

Thank you for letting us know. Mine went down a little but I would lose my OBC.

  6. You boyfriend loves you the way you are. Being insecure and self-conscious brings you down. You must get confident abut yourself knowing you are working on your body. You are the same person whether you weigh 100 or 200. Now that the pep talk is done...sit out around the pool and watch the other passengers. You will no long be self conscious at all. I see women over 200 lb. in a bikini having a great time! No one is going to judge you but yourself. Relax and have a great time!

  7. I was hoping for a bit more than 25% off. I read somewhere that the last time this happened they got 25% off and $100 onboard credit per person

Last year our cruise got diverted to Halifax and St. Johns. You could chose to cancel and get full refund. We chose to cruise since we had never been to Canada. We received $100 OBC each and 25% future cruise credit to be used within 2 years. We are going to Bermuda next year with our 25% discount.
