  1. I think that all of us look like tourists no matter what we do so just go with what is comfortable and has multiple uses.

I pack the same type of clothing that Lois has posted pictures of and never feel out of place. It will be warm in the Med in May so plan accordingly. My October 2014 cruise was cooler and very different temperature wise....

Lois, I hope you make it back in 2016! I'm sailing Celebrity after 2 on RCI and can't wait :)

  2. We (wife and me) just went to Mr. Sancho's last week. We enjoyed it, very clean, good service- Gabby was our waiter. We had zero issues there....we swam in ocean and the pool, used the restrooms, ate at tables and at our chairs....drinks were non-stop.

The one thing people don't mention on these threads is the true cost. I thought it was a little over price after it was all said and done. $17 taxi each way, $20 is what we gave the driver each way. $55 pp at Mr. Sancho's. We gave Gabby a $30 tip for the day......total for the day was $180.

I don't know if I would do the all inclusive again....would consider a pay as you go option.

Thanks! I have been adding up the costs for us and I have decided to look at other options. :)

  3. Seven Mile Beach TIKI Getaway

We booked this Tiki Getaway though Princess in January (2015) and very much enjoyed it. :)

Loved that it wasn't at all crowded and was a very pretty place. :)

It included comfortable transportation, beach chairs, use of the facilities, and a ticket each for a rum punch. (Gave our rum punch tickets to another couple since we only drink beer when off of the ship.

They were surprised at how good the rum punch was -- tasty & strong.)

The beach area was lovely and the water warm & gentle.

We spent most of our time at the bar in the deep shade chatting with others. All drinks including beer were expensive as they are elsewhere in Grand Cayman so that was no shock.

Note: We had been to Grand Cayman many times over the years so wanted to do something EASY with no worries or concerns on our part.

Yes, we would do it again! :D

Sounds nice and thanks of posting!

Sometimes it is just so nice to let someone else handle the logistics :)

  4. ???? Dredging affects beaches? The beaches along the coast in this area constantly have to have dredging to restore the beach. Why, because NATURE doesn't want the sand there, the Chamber of Commerce does.

If they were to build jetties out that would stop the erosion by NATURE. But can't do that say the environmentalists, so we spend hundreds of millions of dollars restoring the beach after a storm season to put the sand back where NATURE doesn't want it.

But to build a new cruise port that would bring hundreds of jobs, and help the economy, can't do it.

You got it right neighbor :) Really wish we could get a new pier......

  5. You will absolutely love sailing the Med!

I have only done two so far but both times in an inside cabin. No regrets and I haven't missed having a balcony at all. I spend the savings on tours and shopping in the ports. :) There can be significant savings by sailing in an inside cabin and our cruise on the Serenade in October was only $754 pp (inc. taxes and fees) so watch for sales ;)

  6. My friend and I booked the Equinox and once I priced the difference for the Vista it was about $560. We just cruised the eastern Med on the Serenade in October and loved it. So, even though we haven't seen the pricing or itineraries from RCI - we won't be switching. :D

I'm really looking forward to returning to Celebrity and although she is Diamond on RCI - this will be her first Celebrity cruise :)

  7. Love the cheap seats too!

I have enjoyed my balcony in the Caribbean but for Alaska and Europe I go for the best price and it is usually the inside cabins. The next cruise is in an OV because with all the perks it didn't cost much more......

I can be happy in any cabin on the ship :D

  8. Celebrity is pretty pricey. NCL isn't bad. We had a nice cabin on our Med cruise with NCL and while we weren't big fans of the Epic, overall it was an awesome cruise. The inclusive food was not that great, but the pay extra restaurants were outstanding.

Yes, it definitely a bit pricey but I really place itinerary above eveything else and I only have to buy for 1 person. My cruise buddy in Texas feels the same way so we're probably going to book the Equinox (10 night Barcelona to Rome) since we just sailed a 9 night Italy, Greece and Turkey this year :)

Thankfully, I have enough FF miles on Delta that I won't have to buy airfare either :D

  9. We sailed RT from Rome on the Serenade in October and returned to the port at 5 AM. We were off the ship and picked up by Rome Cabs about 6:20 AM on a Wednesday and in the airport within an hour. No real traffic.

I found FCO to be really easy and I didn't have to pull anything out since I had TSA precheck - which I was told wouldn't apply for international flights back to the USA. This was US Air to Phily and then home to TPA. We had lots of time to kill until our 10:50 AM flight after we arrived at the gate :)

Your flight time should be fine even if you don't dock until 6 AM. Just make sure you book a private transfer and carry your luggage off. I had organized a group transfer on our roll call thread so if you can do that it will save some $$$.

    Enjoy your cruise!
