  1. Can't be much of a requirement if it isn't asked for, don't you think. Ever heard of anyone denied boarding because they didn't have the marriage certificate proving name change? Not me.

A reason that you would be denied boarding is

a new bride booked her honeymoon cruise in her new name. Her license has her old name on it, same as her birth certificate. So nothing matches the cruise document name.

However it IS a requirement as stated in the the travel documents needed :

(The government issued photo ID must be valid for the duration of the cruise and the name, excluding middle names, must match the name on the birth certificate. If the name on the birth certificate and ID do not match bridge documents showing why the name change occurred must be shown, for example marriage certificate or adoption papers. The booking name must match the name on the photo ID)

The OP asked a question and answers have been provided. Just because you have never experienced it, doesn't mean its not valid.

I for one, have been asked for a bridging document during the embarkation process. My birth certificate didnt match my DL, so I was asked to show a marriage certificate. Thankfully I was prepared from the advice of the ever so helpful members on this board and doing my due diligence on researching the required travel documents.

  2. Ok anyone know what kind of birth certificate size and seal requirements for the carnival cruise line. I'm getting mixed reviews from the travel agency and the cruise line and past cruisers. Help?!

Please also make sure to bring a bridging document, if applicable, to show the name change from your birth name to the name listed on the drivers license (ie marriage cert).

I've only been asked once to show the bridging document - but I was sure glad I had it with me.

  3. But will she not receive the number until we take the cruise?

It should be available under "Look Up my VIFP#" on the Carnival website.

I just checked to confirm and was able to find a VIFP # for a new cruiser, yet to sail (sailing in October).

  4. Yes - everyone gets a VIFP#, even kids under 13. You might want to try clicking on the link on the Carnival webpage that says " Lookup my VIFP Club #. It will require you to enter in the first name, last name and DOB of the VIFP# you are looking for.

  5. When did this change? I tried in February this year, and couldn't. Cruising again in January and would like to be able to pre-purchase Cheers with a gift card.

Not sure when it changed, but I just (in the last month) pre-purchased Cheers for my next two cruises with Carnival Gift Cards.

  6. Thank you all for your responses! Unfortunately I don't meet the age requirement yet for AARP, lol:'):')

But any/all other suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!

    Thanks again!!:D

You dont need to meet the age requirement for AARP to join the rewards program. The same with Allstate Drivewise - you do not need to be an Allstate customer to join the program and earn points.

  7. Several ways to get discounted gift cards. Rewards programs with Verizon (will be no longer available soon), AARP and Allstate Drivewise will allow you to collect/earn points to redeem towards discounted Carnival Gift Cards. For example, Allstate Drivewise - 1000 points will get you a 100.00 Carnival E-Gift card for 90.00. So saving 10%.

  8. Not sure about all of the ports but at Ft Lauderdale, FTTF was in a separate area. Platinum and Diamond was in a room off to the side. FTTF sat in the first three or four rows of the regular passengers. They called out Platinum, Diamond, wedding parties, special needs, then FTTF. We got into the building around 10:30, then sat until 11:45 before they starting boarding.

At the Jacksonville port on my last cruise, we were put in a holding room / check in room with the Platnium / Diamond passengers. Comfy chairs, ice cold water, but it would have been quicker to go through the reqular queue since the wait in the room was longer. The passengers were were standing next to in line and chatting with boarded the ship about 15 minutes before we did in the regular queue.

  9. I chose my check in time of 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM (showing under the cruise details) and I see FTTF is still an available option for my cruise. When I go in to book FTTF, the arrival time is 12:00 PM -1:00 PM. If I purchase FTTF, do I have to arrive at 12:00 PM, or can I still arrive early because of FTTF being purchased?

Or should I not bother with FTTF since I already have an early arrival time? I have excursions booked for each port of call, so I would be able to get semi-priority tendering.

  10. Whenever a thread like this comes up, my answer is always the same - Zero. Four cruises so far with number five coming up in a week and they haven't spent a dime. As to milkshakes, my kids (DD12 and DS9) would say that they have unlimited ice cream on Lido whenever they want it so there's no reason for milkshakes. They would find the arcade useless since they have their tablets with them in the cabin and play computer games on their computer when they're home anyway. Soda - we bring on a 12 pack for each. And so on . . . .

My kids simply appreciate the fact that they get to go on a cruise each summer. They're perfectly happy sticking with everything that's already included.

But, of course, to each his own. :)

My kids order cartons of milk (plain and chocolate) and take the milk up to lido and make milkshakes at the table. They also make rootbeer floats from the soda options with their bubbles card.

  11. Upcoming cruise in October. Cabin has been paid for, Cheers and Excursions already purchased. I just discovered the Allstate rewards program with the discounted Carnival Gift Cards (100.00 cards for 90.00). I purchased a few of them (5 total) and cannot figure out how to redeem them since everything is already paid for in full. Can I print out the E-Gift card and use it as a payment for my sail and sign card ? How can I translate these E-Gift cards into OBC ? Or do I need to purchase "Cruise Cash" from the FunShops?

  12. The kids can walk right up to the bars outside the casinos, on the lido decks and anywhere else there is not a published 21 over sign. During kids camp, there isnt much opportunity for the kids to use the bottomless bubbles as much of the day is prrescheduled and they go in groups. Also, I do not purchase the carnival insulated refill cup for my kids. They lose them and we never see them again.
