1. I love San Juan Water and Beach Hotel! It is wonderful!!!!!

I've never done anything on Price Line. How does it work and is it reliable?

I'm leaving on the Jewel near the end of August.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

You really need to educate yourself or you could get burned. Basically it works like this: You name your own price and find out what hotel you get that match your criteria. You choose the hotel rating, and general location. You don't know the hotel name, amenities, or exact location. You may not even get a room that accommodates more than 2 people. Reservations are non-refundable.

Yup, you can save money (a lot) but it really pays to do your research.

You might find this site helpful: www.hoteldealsrevealed.com

A less risky choice is Hotwire. Reservations are still non-refundable, but at least you know if your hotel has a swimming pool (which is a big deal for me).

  2. I have never used PriceLine. How do you get a place close the pier (FLL)? Is there a way to do a search with free shuttle?

Priceline only recently started listing amenities, but it's kinda weird how they do it. If you must have a particular amenity, you probably want to avoid Priceline, and go for Hotwire instead. You will probably end up paying a bit more on Hotwire though.

Sounds like you're a newbie to Priceline. While I am a big fan, I highly recommend spending some time learning the Priceline ropes. It will pay off. http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com along with betterbidding are good resources to start with.

  3. we will stay @ Sheraton wall Centre May 2-3 2012 pre cruise for ALASKA.

we love Vancouver and this will be our second time but this time we would love to go to Victoria all day on May 3. How do we get there?

    thank you so much

The open jaw route is probably the best. The ferry there and back for a day trip can make for a long day otherwise. If you don't mind sitting on a charter bus for most of the day, this might be an option... the ferry is nice and scenic, but I guess if you're cruising, you'll get lots of this anyway.

If money is no object, you could try the float plane or helijet from downtown to downtown.
So BEWARE WHEN USING PRICELINE....

There was a happy ending though but not due to Priceline, I booked another cruise for the same weekend leaving a day ealier (12/11) but in San Diego with Holland America not out of San Pedro. I called the Crowne Plaza San Pedro and asked them if they would switch my reservations from 12/11 to 12/18 so we could stay there after coming BACK from our cruise and they agreed!

Now CP THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! :D
THANK YOU CROWNE PLAZA SAN PEDRO!!! You've won a loyal customer!!!

Thank you for this post. You make 2 EXCELLENT POINTS.

[*]Although you can get a good deal on Priceline, always be cautious. If you have to cancel or change, avoid priceline. Also avoid if you need a room for more than 2 people or if you need a particular amenity (e.g., shuttle, non-smoking room, or swimming pool).
[*]If you do have to cancel or change, contact the hotel directly. I've seen a lot of complaints about Priceline on sites like www.HotelDealsRevealed.com and others. Very seldom will Priceline budge, but contacting the hotel is quite ingenius!
Glad it worked out for you in the end.
