  1. Carnival employs "capacity control" for their 3 & 4 passenger cabins. If you have 3 people for a cabin, it will show you the cabins that accommodate 3. It will not show you the quad rooms. However, some sailings will have a limited number of quads that are open to bookings for 3 people.

The quads are marked by a solid square symbol on cruisedeckplans.com. If you call carnival or your TA, I would have this website up. Knowledge is power.

  2. For priority at guest services do you go to the diamond/platinum line?

Always have FTTF, but have never remembered that it gives priority at GS.

Yes. Other than the last night of the cruise, I have never had more than 4 people in the line ahead of me.

  3. On another thread, it was stated that the crew are not fed the same meals that the passengers have in the MDR. Their suggestion was to bring a nice dessert from dinner and give it to your steward. I did this every night on our last cruise. Our steward was very surprised. She really appreciated the thought. At the end of the cruise, I also gave her a large tip. She did a great job.

  4. We are already booked on this cruise. As of today, they have dropped the cruise cost by $50.00 under the "Early Saver Super Reduced Deposit Sale". I do not know if all the cabin categories have been discounted or how long it will last, but it would not hurt to do a dummy booking and find out. I would normally recommend using the Carnival Fareviewer website [ https://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/FareViewer# ], but it has not worked for me in over a week.

    Happy Cruising.

  5. I went with the classic beverage package and the OBC. My TA is covering the gratuities. From a post on another thread, you can upgrade to the premium package at a discount when you are onboard. Has anyone found this on a recent cruise?

IMHO, for most, the celebrity insurance is woefully inadequate if you have a medical problem.....their medical limits and their evacuation limits are so low, they assure that the celebrity doctor will get paid and that you will get transported from the ship....but then you've almost run out of insurance funds to handle the medical issues and get you home.

Don't get drawn in to an inadequate policy by the cancellation benefits because if you do have a true emergency when you really need the insurance, you may/will find that you have too little insurance to cover the costs. Almost all, if not all, travel policies have the pre-existing condition waiver if you buy within a short time after you make your reservation....and in reality, many folks who worry about pre-existing conditions actually don't have pre-existing conditions at all per the terms of the policy. This is covered in the insurance forum here on CC.

I strongly advise anyone who will be buying trip insurance (and that should be everyone reading this post) that you look at insurance offerings at insuremytrip, squaremouth, etc. and understand the difference between the policies before you buy.

Completely agree. IMHO, insurance minimums should include primary medical, $0 deductible, $100,000.00 medical, $1,000,000.00 evacuation.

    :D:)

  7. That is a specific number for the upset dept. Don't call NCL's main number.

Not sure, but I think you can still request an upsell even if you used a TA. We never use one so I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure I read on here that you can still do it. I'd make the call. What have you got to lose? Good luck!

I spoke to the upsell fairy today. You can call them directly, even if you have a TA.

  8. I would also look at insuremytrip.com & squaremouth.com [better search filters]. As was posted before, the fine print is crucial. If you are not comfortable finding a policy on the website, call and talk to an agent. They will be able to explain the terms and limitations of a policy [primary vs. secondary coverage, cancel for any reason, pre-existing conditions coverage, deductibles, etc.].

Most policies require that they be purchased within 14 - 20 days from your first payment, in order to be covered for "cancel for any reason" or "pre-existing conditions". It will vary by carrier. I would seriously consider including these options in the policy that you pick. I hope that you have a great cruise.

    :)
