  1. If anyone has ever used the dry cleaning services onboard, would you know if they iron and "starch" men's shirts and women's blouses. Also, would anyone know the charge for the service? Can OBC be applied?

    Thanks.

    S.

  2. Yikes, that sounds very unpleasant! Did the water that leaked on you as you went in and out of your cabin have an odor? Did it stain your clothing? I'm wondering what kind of 'water' is leaking...a fresh water pipe leaking is bad enough - but any other kind of leaking pipe would be even worse

Anyway, sorry about your experience & thanks for your report. Regards, -S.

    Hi Salacia,

Fortunately, the leak started very early in the morning and by the time we returned from breakfast it was repaired. The second time it was around lunchtime. My resourceful husband placed our trash can under the leak to keep the carpet as dry as possible. But really not much help. My cabin steward said it was clean water but from the sewage type odor along the corridor, I would question that.

  3. Yes, the QM2 is beautiful and the Grand Lobby scaffolding was a minor issue. But, I spent 19 days on the ship in late August through mid September. Deck 5 on the odd numbered side had numerous water leaks up and down the corridor. Outside my entry door water leaked on me as I passed in and out of my cabin. It was repaired but then leaked again over the course of the cruise. Noisy fans were placed everywhere to dry out the carpet. One was place near my cabin and I could hear it throughout the night. There were also bad odors as we walked along the corridor. Water had to be turned off for several staterooms when we were in a port. Not mine. As long as it was not inside my cabin I was not terribly concerned. Sink holes don't bother me. But what is the reason for the leaks? The carpet is stained up and down the hallway. It would not stop me from sailing again on the ship but I think there are problems we don't see or know of.

  4. I too sailed on the 19 days voyage and had a great time. However, the ship is definitely in need of work. I noticed the sink holes on deck 8 as well as deck 2. It really did not cause a problem for me in my high heeled shoes. I could imagine it being an issue for some in the same on rough seas. Deck 5 on the odd numbered side had a problem throughout the voyage. We had leaks over our entry door as did many others along the hallway. Noisy fans kept on throughout the day and night were placed in various locations to dry out the already stained carpet. There was an unpleasant odor. There is talk of King's Court restructure but not being an architect I cannot imagine how they will make the change , but will be happy to see it done. I only use it for morning coffee, rarely ever eating there. All in all, I love this ship. I will never hesitate to sail on this "grand" ocean liner again.

  5. Several years ago I spent three weeks in Israel. We dipped into Jordan and stayed overnight in a hotel at the foot of Petra. I chose to walk, passing alongside the huge boulders that hide the Treasury and the rest of the ancient city from view. I would not hesitate to return to that site. If you have the opportunity to go, don't miss it. It is a wonderful experience, something I will always remember.

  6. Lagunaseas, you and I seem to agree about the reasons we love to sail aboard the QM2. But I also love the crew who recognize me from a previous sailing and remembers my name each time he/she meets me. I love the ship's stability in rough seas since my husband is prone to mad de mer and never suffers on the QM2. Best of all is the fact that it sails round trip New York. For me it's, "What's not to like about this glorious ocean liner?"
