Delta yes. (Note that American has recently announced changes to their program which will disallow points if booked via a third party.)

I agree with the suppositions above; likely Portugal has rules more difficult than Spain.

259 for MTG luncheon, Western Caribbean out of Galveston January 2023. Yes, we were surprised; and we agree with the statement above about officers who didn’t want to be there and braggart conversations. Food was nice, and we were happy to be invited.

Ever since the barrel chair was removed we prefer the deluxe balconies just for the seating. Of course, Princess holds those back as 3 person rooms so you have to go through a few gyrations to book a specific room as a double. 🙄

Thank you for an entertaining Live thread

An excellent question. There are current threads on the other Carnival-owned lines dissecting the verbiage of the Annual Report and its lack of mention (unlike years past). The answer is not yet clear.

Just one caveat to add: Depending on the source of the FCC, it may not be insurable. If the credit was granted to you by the cruiseline ( vs you purchasing the credit) that ‘value’ is not paid by you and therefore not insurable. They might let you purchase the insurance, but you won’t have coverage for the ’value’ of the cost.
If you are only looking for the medical portion and not cancellation/interruption coverage; get a third party plan with $1 cruise cost, but beware the look back period.
-
Additionally, booking direct means there is no third party default coverage from insurance (because there are only two parties in the transaction).
-
Tables for 10 are limited; if you can get one at a reasonable time, go ahead and reserve that and then try to change to a better time onboard. But a bird in hand is worth two on the bush as they say. How far out is your cruise?

Cruise Control was cheaper than rideshare pre-book for us. Very efficient and well-run company, too.

Here is another recommendation for Cruise Control Transportation. Booked a group of 14 (airport-hotel @ CocoaBeach-Port-airport return) as well as one couple going just airport to port on Dec10. All communication was timely, pickup was on time, vehicles clean, safe, excellent and friendly drivers.

Thanks, Can you make calls or texts between others on board using your cell phone?
From my experience, you need to ensure your call/text is WIFI ONLY or it will be charged an exorbitant rate by the cellular company. The app ‘supposedly’ has a texting function, but it lacks a proper notification of incoming texts and you must refresh the app to check for incoming texts.

If Princess is routing you this way they are already dealing with the violation or exception under some sort of waiver. As to whether there will be a fine, or who pays it….this is not a routine situation so there is probably not a standard answer.

Unfortunately, missing the ship in LA won’t result in a flight to the next port in Hawaii. The cruise line is not allowed to intentionally violate the PVSA, and thus the first legal port they could fly you to is Ensenada.
One option could be to fly to Hawaii yourself and disembark in Mexico, but it would be up to you to arrange that itinerary deviation with Princess. They are under no obligation to do so.
This is one of those itineraries where missing the initial departure pretty much results in no cruise. One way Alaska trips are another.

Be careful and read any policy in detail; while the NCL policy will provide an FCC % to your wife if she cancels for a non-covered reason, it only covers your increased cost as a single if her cancelation is due to a covered reason.
You will have to crunch the numbers, but it’s possible the cost of the insurance plus the amount not covered is greater than just having your wife be a no-show.
To get a detailed answer that fits your exact situation (age and state of residence matter) I also recommend you call Trip Insurance Store. You will need to know your total trip insurable costs.

Kay S-you are right-you should see what Royal is doing with age restrictions in Cozumel, Roatan Costa Maya. At 70 you are too old to ride the trolley into Cozumel and shop around the square, at Roatan a 3 hour fishing trip is a no no if you are 71. At least Princess hasn't started that -yet-.
On Ruby coming up in January we cannot partake in most of the catamaran snorkel activities, nor the Segway adventure and several other activities deemed too difficult for our age group.

Assuming the 3rd person cancels, aren't the other two expected to pay more? (I thought it was as if NCL collects double... keeping the 3rd fare and then charging more. Or is that only when there are 2 passengers and one cancels?)
GCYou got it in two 😉. When there are three people in a cabin the first two pay full fare and the third pays a reduced fare (usually). When the third person cancels, there is no revised fare for the first two, unlike what happens when one person out of two has to cancel.

The first and second pax also had losses - the extra cost.So they need to check with *their* insurer, not the insurer for the passenger cancelling.
Whether it's covered depends upon their own policies.
GCWhat are their losses? I see none unless they voluntarily paid the third person the fare difference, which is not an insurable event.

The real problem here is that the 3 people split the total cost and insurance only covers the fare based on (unequal) 1st/2nd and 3rd person amounts. If the third person cancels, their insurance will only reimburse the reduced third person amount.
As previously noted above, the best option would be to get somebody else to take the third person‘s place and reimburse her directly for her original costs.
Failing that, her insurance coverage is going to be inadequate and since the first two pax are still going there is no fare adjustment (or insurance claim) to be made.

If you take one of the recommended replacement cruises, be aware the room is only the same category…not necessarily the same room. If you have chosen a specific cabin that is one of the highly sought ones, it may already be booked. Just an FYI.

This change, for us, is more of an annoyance than a deal breaker.
But this and other ‘annoyances’ in recent years have cumulatively reached the point that we are booked for land trips and river cruises well into the future. We have only one future Princess cruise booked and that was mostly to use up the FCC Princess erroneously issued instead of a cash refund for a cancelled 2020 cruise. (That experience was another annoyance, but we tired from the runaround after 6 months trying to resolve it and capitulated.)
We have a couple of FCDs that will lapse by October; we don’t intend to purchase any more. We cannot point to any single change as The Reason, but this newest change just reinforces our choices. YMMV.

😢 Sad, but true.

Thx Thrak. I’m going to wait for the August 31 ‘fix’…and perhaps a couple more after that one…and maybe after January if things are still wonky I will work up the inclination to sit on hold with the techies. I’ve got plenty of other stuff to work on in the meantime.- 1

Huh. Interesting. I can’t order for my March cruise…. Or at least when I click on the next button all I get is a blank white page. 🤣🤣
Oh. Well.

Well, some of the young people only got the translation, but not the reference. But FWIW, my college dorms of 50 years ago were named after Middle Earth, so it Rings true for some of us.
