  1. The link to use to add this offer for non AMEX issued AMEX cards is https://www.americanexpress.com/us/network/shopping.html. It will not work for regular AMEX issued cards.

Thanks so much for posting this link! I had already used the offer a few months ago with my platinum American Express, but did not know that it could be added to store branded am ex cards. I just saved $200 by making $500 payments with my Macy’s and Bloomingdales cards!

  2. Thanks for the detail, this is just what I needed to see. I am so much encouraged that I can eat more than oatmeal and bananas. :D

I am confident that Princess will be able to handle your dietary restrictions with no problem. We travel with our profoundly handicapped son who can only eat puréed foods. He has been on four princess cruises with three different ships. We met with the head waiter of our dining room the first day of each cruise and explained our son’s dietary needs. He then came to our table every evening with the next night’s menu so we could choose his meal. If we decided to go to the pub lunch, or specialty restaurant for dinner we would just call the dining room and ask to speak to our head waiter and tell him where to bring our son’s food. They have always done so with a smile as if it was no bother at all.

  3. Right now it is $199 to pre-purchase the photo package. I think most photos are around $20. So if you think you might like to purchase at least 10 photos it is a good idea. My husband, son and I did a 10 day Christmas cruise last year and purchased the package. I felt that it was well worth it. We got a lot of nice family pictures. We also got to know most of the photographers and it was fun to take pictures almost every night. The package included the photos taken when you get off at each port. We usually don’t even take these, but since it was included we took them in every port. They give you the hard copies and the digital file of each photo. It was nice to put the destination photos in the photo book that I ordered online after the cruise.

  4. I was looking into the train system in Paris and it looks like there is a train from Paris to Le Havre. Has anyone taken this? Is it easy to navigate? I really want to spend a lot of time in Paris and I think the easiest way to do this would be to start the cruise out of Le Havre.

The Eurostar between London and Paris is clean, fast and generally on time. In my experience the trains from Paris to Le Havre (or Bayeux) are often crowded and are often delayed. On my first experience we sat on a barely moving and sometimes stopped train delaying our arrival by 4 hours. We got there so late only one restaurant was still open! On my second experience we were delayed about an hour. So just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there.

  5. I have what may be a stupid question.... I have never snorkeled and was wondering if I'm able to wear my glasses under the mask without it leaking!

I can’t see anything without my glasses but didn’t want to invest in a prescription mask since I only snorkel once every few years. I took the arms off an old pair of glasses and wedged them into my mask. It worked great. [emoji851]

  6. I found a cruise online for next Christmas that I wanted to book. I called Princess to book it and the best price they could give me was $600 more than the price online! I asked the agent if I should just book it online. She said yes and she stayed on the phone with me while I booked it to make sure everything went through ok. I thought this was strange!

  7. We have always asked a couple of TA's for pricing and than booked.

What is the point of booking direct and than transferring' date=' seems like savings the same in long run with less work going direct to TA?[/quote']

I think people often book directly to secure a specific cabin as soon as sailing dates become available or once they decide to cruise. They then shop around for the best deal at their leisure.

  8. I sailed on The Regal over Christmas and I've enjoyed reliving my cruise through your posts. Your comments about the Love Boat horn prompted me to write. One of the highlights of my cruise was our sail away from Antigua on Christmas night. My husband and I were on the balcony and the sun was setting. The MSC Fantasia was berthed next to us. There were tons of people on their balconies and open decks watching us prepare to depart. When the captain played the horn they went crazy screaming and cheering! The captain responded by playing it a few extra times. As we were pulling away from the dock we could hear 100s of people from the MSC ship singing the Love Boat theme song! It was really a special memory for me!

  9. Also, if you sail on the Regal or another ship with medallion then your phone's messenger services work for free while on the ship. (Keep your phone on airplane mode and there will be no charges). This is nice because you can use iMessage, Facebook messenger, what's app and communicate with those on the ship or back home. You will also get notifications when someone sends you a message.

  10. We sailed on the Regal over Christmas. My son is in a wheelchair. When we got on the ship as well as on and off at the various ports they had several men in blue vests with a wheelchair logo on the back that took the wheelchair from me and pushed my son up or down the ramp. They did not give me the choice to push him myself. They said that it was required.

At a few of the ports where the ramp was steep they had one man in front of the WC and one man pushing the chair. If your husband is unable to ride his scooter up the ramp he should be able to transfer to a port WC to get on the ship. I imagine one of the workers could then either ride or push the empty scooter up the ramp.

  11. I was in Barbados last week and took the shuttle to town for $2. It was then about a 5 minute walk to Pirates Cove. They beach was clean and very nice. I was by myself and not planning on staying long so I just put my towel on the sand. There were several guys walking the beach that were trying to get people to rent a jet ski or go on a glass bottom boat. They were not pushy; I just said no thank you. I ran into a couple I met on my ship and they were talking to some crew from the ship. They told us that it is an easy 20 minute walk back to the ship. There is a nice sidewalk that goes all the way back to the port; it us about a mile. Most of the way is a park right on the water and there is even some shade.

  12. I was there last week. There is a shuttle to town for $2 each way. Also, if you are able to walk a little less than a mile, there is a nice sidewalk along the water that goes all the way to town. The walk was easy and even had some shade.

  13. There is a section of anytime dining room reserved for "club class" dining. Full suite and club class mini suites (center of ship and a little more expensive) are allowed to eat in club class. The perks of the dining are no waiting and one table side special each night.

  14. Thanks for your replies; I actually just got back from my cruise and fortunately one of the crew members told us about the nice sidewalk along the water. Very easy and pleasant walk!

  15. You can try looking for info on the special interest board for disabled cruisers. I have seen medical topics such as dialysis and sleep apnea machines on that board.
