  1. Bump

Trying to find out if the bridge is back open and if it is wheelchair accessible. We have had a tough time getting my son on and off boats in the past, so I don't think that the free ferry will be a good option.

  2. Does anyone who has been to Curaçao recently know if the bridge is back open? I understand that it was closed for construction recently.

Also, does anyone know if you are allowed to push a manual wheelchair across the bridge?

    Thanks!

  3. Here is a link to my pictures from a cruise that covers a number of the ports. If you are only going once, it is hard to pass up Athens. Also, Dubrovnik is a great place to go. But then, so are Santorini and Mykonos. Good luck.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but it wanted to thank you for posting your gorgeous photos! We did the same cruise in 2013, and I loved reminiscing. Your photos are so much better than mine. You must have a better camera and a better eye!

To the op: either itinerary would be great! If the kids are interested in Athens, I would go with the first one. Dubrovnik is stunning!

  4. I have sailed on NCL twice. The first time was 4.5 years ago and I just got off the Epic last week. In between the 2 NCL cruises I sailed with Princess 4 times. While I enjoyed all of my cruises; my husband, 2 college age kids and I all preferred Princess. We felt the MDR food and service was even better than all of the specialty restaurants on the a Epic. We liked the public spaces better on Princess, particularly the atrium, international cafe and crooners bar. I felt the public spaces on the Epic were noisy and had a lot of traffic walking through them. Princess does not have the great slides like NCL but I felt the pool areas were much more relaxed and had more loungers available.

We did prefer a few things on NCL. Howl at the moon was a fun place to hang out with very talented performers. We also felt in general the elevators were more plentiful and quicker. Most differences are personal preference and I am pretty sure that if you enjoy NCL you also enjoy Princess.

Forgot to ask this too: how about bottled water and Pepsi? Can I bring those on, or not?

We sailed on this cruise and brought 2 cases of water, one case of pediatric soy supplement for my son and one case of Dr. Pepper. The porter said, "We are not supposed to take soda, but I will do it for you". I'm not sure if this is true or if he was just hoping to get a better tip by "doing us a favor".

  6. Yes, you can bring wine in your luggage overseas. I agree with the other posters that you can buy good, reasonably priced wine near the port in Barcelona. The only times we have packed wine in our luggage has been coming home from Barcelona and Italy. We brought "wine diaper" with us and they worked great!

Every time we traveled with wine in our luggage, our luggage was opened and gone through by TSA or customs (they leave a note in your bag).

  7. I don't think there would be any problem bringing your own blender. However, the galleys should be able to purée or blend any food combination that you wish for your husband. We sailed on the Epic about 4 years ago and on the first day we met with one of maître d's and explained our needs. (We had also filled out an access form prior to the cruise.) Each day we told him what restaurant we would be dining in the next day and he saw to it that a puréed meal was prepared for my son. (They would probably deliver your husband's puréed shakes for his tube feeding to your cabin if you request for that to be done).

We will be sailing again in January and hope to have the same level of service. Good luck to you!

  8. Thanks for your offer to answer questions. We will be on the Epic in January. When you are getting on and off the tender in Grand Cayman will you assess the ease and possibility of a child in a wheel chair using the tender? He weighs about 70 pounds and his wheelchair is not very heavy, so my husband and other son can lift him if necessary. Thanks!

  9. Does anyone know what time the specialty restaurants on the Epic open? I made my show reservations online today and the nights that I have reserved 7:00pm shows, the earliest I can get reservations at any specialty restaurant is 9:30pm. Do you think they are booked, or do they restrict reservations for 2 hours before and after your shows? We have a special needs son that needs to get to bed by 9:30 or 10:00, so I was hoping to eat at 5:00pm and then go to 7:00pm shows. Thanks!
