So are you looking for 2 doubles or 2 Queens?  Or three twins?  We are looking for 2 doubles or 2 queens so interested in responses as well.

we are 3 travelling together too. We are trying to find a hotel that can sleep 3. Didn't realize how hard it would be. We want 3 twins. Hoping to find something.

  2. I did an overnight on RC. I say yes. We docked on Thursday at 8 am and left the next day around 5 pm. Two full days. We just wondered around Cuba looking for a bar with music in the evening. A lot of people did the Tropicana excursion in the evening. We were 4 women and never felt threatened or scared walking around at night. completely safe. You should look at the cruises with RC that have two full days in Cuba. And still that wasn't enough time for me to explore Cuba. I'm going back on another overnight cruise.

  3. I just checked on LMTCLUB.com and see the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay for $202 per night for the last weekend in March.

You have to google around for a free membership promo code to join LMT as there is a fee to join. But LMT is a great place to shop and they have a cancellation policy which allows for you to change your mind up to 3 days prior to stay. No problems getting the refund. AND it is not a bidding or blind site. You can choose number in the room too.

If you join the HiltonHonors program for free on line, you will get a discount on the Hampton Inn and their other hotels in Miami. I see the Hampton does have a great price..$232. AND the location and free big breakfast is worth the money for three people.

I am a HiltonHonors member and the rate I got after signing in is $340 Brickell area.

  4. Hot wire allows you to enter the number of guests. DON'T bid on PL if more than two. You are only guaranteed a room for two.. ie one bed. So if they don't have to give you two beds at check in. Many people have been charged rack rate at check in to change room types.

Check the hotel lists on betterbidding.com. But know the hotels change, so it won't guarantee what you'll get.

Personally I would only book 3, 4 or higher and stick to downtown and Brickell. Being peak season, high vacancy will limit what is available.

What are trying to spend? The Hampton Inn Brickell runs around $225 and is a great location with nice breakfast. Check the sticky above which might help you too.

Thank you so much for the info. I am staying the last weekend in March (spring break.) I believe The Hampton was around 300 for those dates. My budget is to keep it around 150 PP (three ppl) total.

  5. Hello once again. I am new to the bidding for a hotel room. I've browsed both Priceline and Hotwire and was unsure what "star" I should chose for a hotel. I selected 3 stars and 4 stars. The 3 star hotel I'm a little anxious about. I was able to see a couple on Ocean Drive that were 3.5 stars that were reasonably priced although there was no option for number of people when looking for the express deals. We are a party of 3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

  6. Coconut Grove "The Grove") is a fun area of Miami. Do lots of homework on private rentals before booking anything.

by lots of homework what can I do? I've noticed some places don't have reviews and I'm more comfortable booking thru VRBO than AirBnb although some properties are listed on both.

  7. Hello, fellow cruisers. I am sailing out of Miami in March (spring break). Hotels are very high so I have been looking at airbnb and VRBO for alternative lodging. The more reasonably priced accommodations are in the Coral Gables area or in an area called Grove (?) . We want to spend some time exploring Miami (Little Havana, Wynwood walls and South Beach). We are willing to use Uber to get to and from any areas we want to visit just not sure how far these neighborhoods are to what we want to see. In addition we would like to be close to restaurants and nightlife. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  8. Will be our first time in Miami / Miami Beach looking a tour that gives some sites and etc. on the city. We will be staying at the Sagamore Hotel on Miami Beach and would need a tour that picks up at hotel since we will be flying in. Thanks

Don't let the fact that you don't have a car limit your opportunities. Uber is awesome way to get to and from a tour starting point. We did the Miami to the Max tour. We did have to take an uber to the location start but it was simple. The tour gives you a taste of all of Miami. Check it out.

  9. Hello! taking a trip to Cuba via RC out of Miami end of March. I've started looking into fights and hotel rooms for either one or two nights. We sail out on a Monday. To my surprise the hotel rooms are running $300 or $400 a night. What the heck is going on in Miami at the end of March that the rooms are so expensive? Any suggestions on where to stay that won't cost $300 or $400 a night? I fly into Miami.

  10. I booked it through Carnival's excursion page

Not sure when you cruise, or if you've already cruised but I just got off the Vista and did the bar hop in Caymen thru Carnival. It was a blast. 6 tasters of beer at Caymen brewery, 10 or more shots of rum at the distillery, beach break (to get food) and final stop was at a mexican restaurant for a margarita and chips and salsa. Thank goodness we had a great group of people otherwise I could see it not being that great of a time. There was a total of 14 of us. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

  11. If no one knows about the "secret" of the P&A, they certainly will after 30 people gather there.

You seem to be more interested in gathering than in eating, given the rapidity with which you shot down Cucina del Capitano and JiJi's. Given that, Ocean Plaza is another option. It's not outside, but it's certainly "people can stand around with a drink in hand." If you really want outdoor, the outdoor seating area for, say, Cherry on Top is another possibility. You could even get P&A food and go over to CoT, which should be really empty. Or just further up the Lanai from P&A, like around the Fun Shops. Again, you could get food at P&A, then run up the lanai/promenade to a different area and sit there.

I agree Ocean Plaza would be a good spot. P&A is right outside. It's a spacious venue and people get the BBQ and then eat inside at the Ocean Plaza. My group did this, but more because it was so hot outside.

  12. Hello. we are staying at Homewood suites downtown/Brickell. We are looking for a restaurant that serves good Cuban food. Doesn't need to be withing walking distance of the hotel but keep in mind we will be using Uber to reach the restaura if need. be.

    TIA!

  13. Family cruise in July. I'm looking to book private transportation to POM for our group. We are staying at Homewood Suites Downtown/Brickell. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. I've done some research and the couple companies recommended (SAS and Jiffy Jeff) don't seem to pick up from our hotel. I currently have requests in to confirm this with them.

    TIA

  14. I just now checked and discovered if you are purchasing the cheers program online pre cruise you now can use gift cards as a form of payment! I couldn't get the system to work using firefox browser, so I opened up IE and went through the motions like I was going to purchase Cheers and walla, just like magic, option appeared to "use gift card"!!! :D

I didn't continue yet because I'm waiting on gift cards to come in the mail, but I wanted to post this experience. I know it's been a real issue for some to pay once on board using gift cards and receiving the pre cruise discounted price. Happy cruising everyone!!!

Were you able to purchase the package with the gift cards?? Were you able to use more than one gift card?
