  1. San Francisco is not a large city. If you can walk there are the hop on off busses close by. Do you know where you want to go? If you are touring on your own please note SF is a very tourist town and with that there are a lot of pickpockets so be very careful in crowds. Busses through china town (union square) are the worst. FYI - Hamilton is playing in the city. We used to live there and I bought tickets to the show as they are harder to get where we live now.

Travel insurance like all insurance is a matter of risk tolerance. If we book with our big box travel their insurance is about half the cost of booking the insurance on our own. You can buy medical insurance for a single trip or for a year. This means you can book your travel insurance at a later date because you do not need pre existing coverage. Also some credit cards offer some type of travel insurance if the trip is booked with the card. Probably confused you more but trip insurance is not always simple. FYI we always buy insurance and have used it twice. Once for my fall injury and once for a family members serious injury. 😉
  3. We are on the Oct 11 Symphony cruise. Coming in 2 days early and looking at transfers to the port. Crystals transfer is from downtown San Jose. Have you decided how to get to the ship? Crystal offers transfer from downtown hotel but the hotel is sold out.
  4. We are booked on the Caldera to New Orleans Panama Canal cruise on the Symphony. The last night is in port in New Orleans. Is there anything special about the last dinner on board ship? I am thinking about the bread pudding at Red Fish for dessert at dinner. (May even take one home.)
  5. Thank you - class act for a cruise line - buying the cards in case they are needed.
  6. I like to play mahjong. Are there sets on the ship or do I have to bring my own?
  7. We purchased the 'slow' package for 2 devices when we were on the ship. We got 30% off the total price.
  8. I filled out the after cruise evaluations. I have one problem with one of the tours we took. There was no where to report the issue of a really bad tour guide. We did a tour in Iceland where the tour guide was not clear about where to go and where to meet. He never pointed the paths for the sites or what the sites offered. I do not expect guides to be friendly but they should be informative and point out and describe what we should do at each site. At the first site the bus moved. He had to find a couple who did not know where to find the bus and he was not happy. My husband and I were lucky when we walked down to the correct parking lot. The sites were great waterfall - volcano lake - geyser - and spa.
  9. I am a big fan of Celebrity and Royal Caribbean BUT I agree with cangelmd. I have been on cruises to Alaska on Celebrity and Princess. Princess cruises go to Glacier Bay and that is spectacular. Also rather than spending money on a suite I would take a land tour to Denali (with the cruiseline or on your own). I am not an animal scenery person but Denali is an absolute must see if you can possibly swing the time and money. We did the Tundra Wilderness tour in Denali getting to the bus at 4:30 in the morning - and it was worth the early early morning.
  10. For those of you considering the low cost shoe covers to keep your shoes dry, they do keep them dry but I did not find them easy to walk in. Make sure you order early and check the sizing with the shoes that will be covered. Walk around and make sure the covers are comfortable enough for your trip. I found the 'ankle' area to be irritating when walking around with the covers.
  11. The IC is a good location. And I really like Trulucks which is walking distance. Went there for stone crabs when we wanted to avoid the cost of transportation to Joes stone crab.
