We've often used it on the 1st or 2nd day, especially after touring Alaska before the cruise.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your info.  Would you have time to answer a few questions about your touring Alaska before the cruise?  Please write to me:  ermmfm at rogers dot com

    Thanks,

Nancy, as previously stated, this is not just for Canadians, and has been pending for some time. They had a notice on their website for quite a while that this would eventually be happening. The Huawei situation is just coincidental and unrelated.

    Hi there,

I have no problem with the biometrics, was just writing about my experience and never mentioned about the Huawei situation (I think it was another poster that brought that up).  My issue was that they fast-tracked the Dec. 31 deadline to immediately, which took us by surprise.  Of course they have every right to do what they want.... I was just surprised by the shortened deadline that wasn't announced.

  3. Thanks for answering Philob.  I knew about the Dec. 31st deadline and Canadian biometrics, but was taken by surprise when they fast-tracked the date from the end of the year to immediately.  We missed it by a few days!!

  4. As of today or a few days ago, China has changed the rules/form for a Visa for their country.  I am wondering if this is only happening for Canadians?!  Please let me know if you are just now applying (as recently as a week ago, it was the 'old' form?!) and which country you are in.

The form is now more cumbersome and they now want fingerprints.  Also, we have to present ourselves at the official centre (thankfully we live in Toronto, one of the only 5 centres in Canada they have just announced).  What do people do in small centres?

    Thanks for your feedback.

  6. We just came back from a week on Liberty of the Seas, but had a few days in Houston before that.  We hired Phil from "Discover Houston Tours" for a full day.  He is extremely knowledgeable and gave us great value.  We toured Houston, with a number of stops, with great commentary.  We then spent the afternoon at NASA where he got us to the front of every line.  He has quite a variety of tours that he offers and again, I highly recommend using his services.

    Kyoto without a doubt...

Click on the link to our Japan review in my signature. You´ll find info on both cities there.

    HI there,

I clicked on your link, but am not sure which of your posts I should look at to get information on both cities.  I'm hoping it's not too much trouble to ask you to send the specific links.  You can reach me here ermmfm at rogers dot com

    Thanks so much,

  8. Thanks Ashland, for your reply.  I certainly agree about following the rules of a country.  What I was looking for was other people who had experienced this in Jeju.  In my research, I could not find evidence of (for example) other companies asking for your insurance policy and number - that's digging a little too deep!

I would still love to hear from anyone else who has gone on private tours in Jeju.

    Thanks!

  9. We are considering a certain tour in Jeju, S. Korea.  To register, the tour company is not only asking for all of our Passport details, but our insurance company policy & number and other details.  Is this typical?  I feel extremely uncomfortable giving this info and will want to consider other tour companies instead.  Anyone have this experience?  Thanks.

  10. Hi Everyone,

Two different questions, both to do with the Liberty of the Seas.  We will be sailing on LOS in December and I was wondering if anyone who was recently on this ship knows if and when the Flo Rider opens on the Embarcation Day - i.e.  does it open while still in port?  What time?

A second question is to do with the (new) entertainment.  I'm trying to understand how it works now.  I was told that you don't preregister for the different entertainment on the different days as on the Oasis class, but you still have to choose what you will see on different days, but only once on board?

Thanks for clearing this up for me!

  11. Greetings CC Family

I just booked VIP Express LLC shuttle service for my upcoming October cruise out of Galveston, (Liberty of the Seas). There is not much in reviews on these boards because they are fairly new. I had a pleasant conversation with Emanuele at 1-409-888-0520. He will be picking us up at our hotel in Houston and transporting us to the cruise port and back from the cruise port to Hobby airport. He is charging me $50 rt pp. I am looking for reviews and pictures; so if anyone has used them please share your knowledge and information. I will do a review when I return 10/14/18.

    Thanks

    Gladys

    Hi there,

I hope you had a great cruise. I look forward to your comments about VIP Express, when you get back. Thanks.

  12. Does anyone know where I can find a list of distances from (Asian) ports to the city? For example, I think I've read that it would take about 3 hours to get from the port to Beijing. Just wondering if this info is in one document or page. Thanks!

  13. We are US citizens. We did a Hong Kong to Shanghai cruise on Millie this time last year with 5 nights in Hong Kong and 5 nights at Shanghai Disney. I looked into the 144 hour visa. I think we could have used it, but in the end it just was not worth it to us. So we got the 10 year Chinese Visa. We enjoyed our cruise so much that we booked it again for March 2018. The March cruise does 3 nights in Beijing. The last time we were in Beijing was 2007. Last year the cruise went south and this year the cruise on Millie goes north.

Years ago before you could fly into China from the US we would fly to Hong Kong and use a service that would pick up our passports in the evening and come back the next day with our Visa for China.

    Hi there,

I believe we will be on the same cruise, in March 2019! Can I contact you for advice? Thanks.

  14. Hi there, We too are trying to plan a longer land trip. Would you be willing to share any of the info you gathered? Please write to ermmfm at rogers dot com

    Thanks,

    Nancy

Yeah, I think it's safe to say we're spoiled.

Alaska was my wife's idea and I'm thankful she was willing to take on much of the planning, especially after she decided the 6-day RC pre-tour we originally booked was not long enough and didn't allow for everything she wanted to do. Fortunately she found an excellent company that helped plan and book a customized 10-day land trip for us. Unfortunately, as you could have guessed, this turned into one expensive vacation, but it's sort of a 40th birthday/15th anniversary celebration and I've mostly made peace with the cost... mostly. :)
