Can anyone recommend a good hotel to stay at prior to a cruise leaving from Port Canaveral that has shuttle to and from the port?
-
We did this trip following our last cruise to Alaska. The train was staffed by college aged kids who seemed to feel they needed to entertain us on a continuous basis with games and jokes etc. We would rather have been able to enjoy the scenery in peace and quiet. The meals (breakfast and lunch) were served in our seats and were okay. The hotels provided were nice. We did not enjoy the bus trip portion as the bus driver was constantly reminding us he exppected a tip at the end. He was also quite annoyed with those of us that chose not to do the helicopter ride. We figured it was because he got a kick-back from the place for each person that bought a ticket.

We had the same problem last year. We stayed at the Holiday Inn where we could shuttle from the airport and then took a cab to the Captain Cook the next day.

I agree that there is no way to prove it is food poisoning. Highly unlikely that the only people affected were these two. Sorry they were ill and missed a day of their cruise but I don't feel Carnival owes them anything.

Hi Brianna! I am so very sorry about the passing of your beloved Dad. He was very special.
Would you please contact me at adumbaugh@aol.com? I need to ask you a question.
Thanks!

Physicians in the cruise ship clinics are usually board certified ED doctors. They are not pediatricians but are trained and able to do intubations if needed. That being said, it would be very scary to me to be a day away from a hospital and take a chance on something going wrong with all the best intentions of the ship.

Frogner Park is wonderful!:)

hi sis, and yes where i come from the correct name is a chambermaid or a servant you may not like it and me have to agree that a kindle is for reading and never heard of a q tip i assume its for ladybits ?
i fing it a shock that some get offended by other countrys descriptions of things. tires are tyres and so on. royal caribbean cruise lines is called royal by many on this forum which is not right but i dont complain on here people can be so sensitive but getting back to fining 20 pairs of underpants behind a television on a carnival ship isnt that awful i fell awful if i was to find a lot of those things behind my telly.
so if the man that is supposed to be cleaning my room is called a stewart a chambermaid or a servant it is the same thing really they dont celan the room well enough as many have posted here and yes they should be fired if you dont do your job properrly you get fired. simples.

Hmm....all of a sudden you can't seem to spell or punctuate?? Where are you from?

We DID tell them of our needs. Our agent did so. They lacked empathy and you do too! We said in our comment we tipped heavily---my husband is handicapped too so he could not push me. You are wrong about this. You must work for Silversea or are a travel agent.
Expedition, it seems OP does not think highly of TA's either.....

Unfortunately it's alive and well in Wisconsin! I was told it was dried cod or whitefish rehydrated in lye. If you can get near enough without gagging, it looks like white fish in a gelatinous substance. My cat took one sniff and started to roll in it.

We need help in finding a hotel that is very accessible to the boardwalk and things to do in Halifax. Being on a HoHo route would also be great.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I use that stuff all the time. You just cut to size and place on a window. It peels right off when you no longer want it on.

Sorry, but only the Owners suite has a dining table. The other suites have a little coffee table that you would have to use.

Yes! I have this problem each evening with CC. I wonder why this is?

That was exactly my point, so I think we are agreeing. If the idea of relaxing on a ship is more important than the creature comforts of a resort, Emerald is the better ship for outdoor relaxation.
Well said. I agree, it's Emerald !

oh...we cruised the Island Princess and then did the Vancouver to Calgary (5 days) trip. What ship are you on? Is it a packaged deal? Ours was not included with the cruise.......
My email is adumbaugh@aol.com .

We were redleaf. I wish I could remember the name of the hotel in Kamloops but I can't. Sorry I was confusing about the transfer in Banff. Yes all the transfers are included. What I meant about Banff is that the train station where they leave you at the end of the train part of the trip is not actually in town. They didn't really explain much but rather let us off where busses were waiting to take us to the hotels. Is your tour 5 days Vancouver to Calgary? One thing we found out as the train left us in Banff was that they were actually going on to Calgary that night. Retrospectively, I would have much rather gone with the train as the next day was a strange one.

We wished we had gone in the "gold class" as we had box lunches at our seat that were just average. Breakfasts were little boxes of cereal and a banana. Kamloops overnight was in an old rather rustic hotel that had no elevator. I love trains but I was very tired of sitting at the end of the first day. Maybe in the dome car it would have been easier to stay interested but in the lower car where they put the peons it is harder to see things as the brush can be dense near the tracks. Probably our biggest disappointment came when we were "dumped " off the train in Banff. (the rest of the journey is/was by coach). The hotel was nice but a distance from town such that you felt you had to eat at the hotel. The coach "tour" the next day was questionable. The driver kept reminding us that he expected tips and when we got to the helicopter flight place he tried to talk me into the trip even though medically I could not. It was obvious he got kickbacks for each person that took one. When we got to Calgary late in the afternoon we were literally dropped off on the corner with our luggage and had to struggle into the hotel with them ourselves. We felt the overall product delivered was not in keeping with what we paid.

Lorri, we did this trip last year except we cruised first and then did the train. I will be glad to answer your questions. Although the scenery was lovely, we had issues with the accomodations and the last day's bus tour to Calgary.

We noticed an odor at times but not an offensive one. We also had tiny little soot balls in both instances. We were on the Caribe deck aft.

We stayed in this suite as well. I found the beams obstructive. As said by an earlier poster the one in front of the bedroom totally obstructs the view which was a bummer for me. I also found the balcony very narrow. If you look in the picture posted by Deise you will see that if the loungers have their footrests extended you cannot walk without stepping over them. I also found the suite to be smaller than some of the others I have had. All that being said, if it is your first suite and balcony you will like it. When we booked this suite it was all that was available. Given a choice, we would not book this suite again.

I found that it was hard not to tip a couple of dollars when room service was delivered as you sign the back of the ticket and it has "tip amount" right above it.

We used to love suites and found them easy to store the scooter. They are no longer a consideration as the prices have gone up and the amenities have gone down. We now get the balcony suites so cruising is still affordable. Suites are just not worth the price.

Looks like you are having a wonderful time! Dinner at Chops did not impress. I hope they improve.
Love your Rollators. Did Medicare pay for them?
