  1. A few comments about the HAL cruiser on Princess for first time:

    1. You should have booked a mini-suite which is an upgrade from the balcony cabins. Larger bathroom with tub/shower, sofa and chair, 2 TVs and more room.

    2. The baggage handlers at the port are not Princess employees and do things their way. Princess has no real control over them. :(

    3. You should try the MDR instead of the HC for breakfast as it is much better.

    4. Breakfast room service has their version of egg McMuffin and it is good at least to me.

    5. Wine glasses are not normally in the room. As you found out you have to call room service who will bring you two or more wine glasses and a corkscrew. They are very prompt even on embarkation day and we have never had a problem.

    6. You don't have to have your picture taken at any time. Just say no and walk on by.

    7. Nice to hear you liked SHARE (except for the price). You are one of the few to post anything good about that place. We tried it on last cruise (price reduced to $29) and did not like it.

We did one HAL cruise back in the last decade but don't remember very much about it. Thanks for posting.

  2. Pick your favorite bar, mine is Seaview on the Regal, order a bucket and ask to be served one bottle at a time. They'll keep track and when all 5 are gone they'll tell you you're out and time to buy another. If you don't finish your bucket they will hang your ticket with the remaining beers for the next visit. This of course is called the "Wall of Shame". Seems to be SOP. Never been told no and the count has always been right even with a different bartender the next day.

  3. I think that is very tight, probably too tight, but traffic will be light due to the holiday.

When is the ship supposed to be in port? Will you take your luggage off yourself? Steinwerder is really way out. I don't know about taxis, haven't been there yet. Our cruise is in July.

You could prearrange a limousine. We used Blacklane in three different places (Orlando, Auckland, Hong Kong) and they were always on time. Our ship's concierge confirmed that they are very reliable. It is a German company working internationally. We will use them again.

Ship is to dock at 0500. Should be able to walk off with luggage shortly after 0700. Approx 15 min taxi ride to Hbf and, yes, traffic should be light, holiday morning

Many cruisers who are disembarking the Regal Princess at Steinwerder on Easter Montag (4/17/17) have concerns about how lengthy the EU immigration process will be and the the availability of taxis at the pier that morning.

I personally must get a party of 4 to the HH Hbf in time for a 09:24 train.

Should I be concerned that I have ample time?

FYI all pax (3600) will be disembarking as the Regal is going to a 2 week dry dock and not embarking new pax.

  5. I have done this as well. Wanted to change from a standard balcony port side aft on Regal to a starboard side aft deluxe and guess what??? No charge upgrade. Just had to ask. Three weeks prior to sailing date and I'm sure elite status didn't hurt. Bottom line just ask.

  6. As a follow up to this, since there are no kiosks we will need to fill out the blue declaration form debarking in Port Everglades?

Yes. You will need to fill out the dec from that will be left in your disembark package in your stateroom. GE in PE is a BREEZE!! As stated far right lane in Term 2.

  7. C752 is the absolute worst cabin on this class ship. If you book it you will regret it. Stuck in the corner. Almost private passageway with no foot traffic whatsoever. Quiet. Serene. Wake noise to lull you to sleep every night. Horrible oversized cover balcony. It really sux. [emoji12] my cabin!! It's all mine!!! Ahahaha!![emoji41]

  8. Okay..... Here's the answer from CBP Port Everglades

Global Entry is here to stay at Port Everglades. The program was expanded this season to include ALL CRUISE TERMINALS at PE. It is not temporary nor experimental.

However, kiosks are not, and will not be installed.

Entry varies from normal GE procedure in that pax MUST fill out the paper declaration form that is included in your on board debarkation packet. On debarkation, GE holders show their GE Card to cruise line personnel ashore in the arrival hall, who in turn will direct pax to the GE line. Was told that you MUST show your GE/Nexus card, but I would think if you insisted you were a participant but did not have the card with you, you would be permitted to proceed. CBP at GE will collect your paper declaration and scan your passport. Away you go!

I asked the question about line jumping. Was assured that if they scanned your passport and you did not have GE/Nexus you would be sent to the back of the long line.

Was also told that this is for Port Everglades only. As far as they knew it was not available at Port of Miami at this time.

  9. Guys... obviously it's going to vary depending on the time of leaving ship relative to other pax, the number of CBP officers on duty and so forth.

Given a lineup, Global Entry is going to save time, no question. Maybe not a ton, but some.

And size of ship. 1900 pax on Coral/Island vs 3600 pax on Royal/Regal

If you absolutely need to know, I would suggest contacting CBP at FLL airport or the Port Everglades cruiseport, or whatever the local main office is and ask.

You never know if an operational issue might cancel the service the morning of your arrival (or mine on the 15th). By all indications, it's here for the time being as a service and it has to run for a while to do an evaluation. Hopefully the evaluation is for whether to setup machines or not.

Just thank them for the new service upon clearing.

Excellent idea. I will do so and report back here. Since it is now 6pm eastern Friday I probably won't get anyone until Monday. Guvmint work, ya know. Standby. And I will be sure to thank the CBP officer upon clearance!
