  1. We too have only cruised Carnival! but when the opportunity arose to book a brand new ship-the koningsdam- and to cruise to Norway and the Artic Circle, we just had to do it. We will be on this wonderful new ship in July, this year and are expecting to love it. It looks great. I am sure you both will have a wonderful time on your cruise-it will be what YOU make it!!! enjoy!

  2. Gave these as a gift to our teen grandkids this year! What a great idea to use them on a cruise. Cruisers are fun people and i think they would "get on board" with the game. Ha ha! Let us know if you do it and how it goes.

  3. Looking to know if the river tubing excursions are running normal or if they were impacted somehow by the hurricane damage? Wanting to do this for the first time in february 2016. Any info on how rough it is or how fast the rapids are would be appreciated. We are in our 60's and think this looks like fun but we really don't want to capsize or anything. Any experienced tubers out there with advice or warnings? Also did you book thru the ship or private company. If private co. Which one, please.

  4. What irritates us the most is the lack of tables. It is irritating to have to snarf up an empty table and then go separately for food. Not relaxing at all. In addition, when we did get a table and decided we want d to eat there and have a bottle of wine on our prepaid wine package, it cause such a kurfuffal that it made the wine experience embarrassing

Love that word "kurfuffal". It made me smile!http://boards.cruisecritic.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

  5. Laminate them at home, punch holes in them, put zip ties (actually I use bread ties) thru the holes, put in my carryon bag and when I get off the plane to go to the port I attach to suitcase handle. Never have had a problem with them coming off or getting torn. I use packing tape to laminate them. Have fun on your cruise--it won't be your last. lol

  6. Yes! Really worth the price. Got to meet the captain and see the navigation deck. All the behind the scenes working areas of the ship, the crew quarters, captain dining room, kitchen, and laundry work spaces. We had an enjoyable tour and got some goodies and pics at the end. You won't be sorry if you do this. However, make sure you go immediately to guest services when you get on the ship to sign up. These sell out fast.

  7. There was a naturalist on board on the way over who gave talks everyday in the main showroom about all the Hawaiian Islands and their history and the people of Hawaii etc. Very interesting and informative. She also had tour recommendations and shopping info for each port. Very helpful. There were arts and crafts such as making leis and learning to play the ukulele and hula lessons and one morning she had a class for the ladies on how to wear the Hawaiian sarong in many different ways. Very nice.

We did all our excursions thru the ship and just had to pick what we thought sounded fun to us. We did the luau at Germaines-it was right on the beach outdoors and it was fantastic. We had one bad tour in Maui but it was because we had a poor guide who only wanted to talk about herself and not about the sights. We still enjoyed the scenery but it could have been better. We were refunded a part of the cost when we complained to shore excursions. What was important to us was to see Diamond Head, see whales and see waterfalls and lava. We managed to see all of them so we were happy. There are so many excursions offered by the ship, just find ones that meet your interests. You really can't go wrong--you are in a tropical Paradise after all!!! One thing we didn't have time to do was go in the water at a beach on any of the stops. if I had it to do again, I would have made a beach day on one of the islands and just relaxed there. We packed so much into the short time we had that we were exhausted by the last port. Luckily we had lots of sea days to recoup on the way home.

  8. This is the first time we will have FTTF. I am really looking forward to boarding the ship early and going right to our cabin. Not having to lug our carryons around is worth it to me. And , add in that we can leave the ship on debarkation day either early or late, whatever works best for us! I think we will feel we got good value for the price. We may get to use the priority tendering on this cruise also, so I think it is a great deal for us.

  9. We did the Miracle 15 day to Hawaii last January. We were very lucky to have smooth sailing both going over and coming back. the Miracle is one of our favorite ships but we sailed on it before the drydock, so can't speak to any new improvements on it. The food is good and we greatly enjoyed all the Hawaii themed activities on our way to the islands. All the islands were wonderful and each different in their own way. However, I must agree that seeing the islands on a cruise just doesn't give you enough time to see everything! You must make choices and sometimes be disappointed that you miss something you really wanted to do. Definitely do a luau, it was a highpoint for us,we loved it. It was a great cruise and we had a wonderful time on the ship but we wouldn't cruise again to Hawaii.

  10. Thank you, and sorry my caps were on and didn't notice it. Yes, I see you have been a wonderful source of info to others all the time. Just one thing, please, what section of the city would be closest to port for a hotel. Could you post the link to your map just one time for me. I appreciate it very much

  11. I DO BELIEVE CARNIVAL TRIES TO MAKE A BAD SITUATION "RIGHT". I DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS GENERALLY AM A "GO WITH THE FLOW"PERSON. however, ON OUR HAWAII CRUISE , WE HAD BOOKED A PRETTY EXPENSIVE EXCURSION THRU THE SHIP ON MAUI. IT WAS HORRIBLE! THE GUIDE WAS USELESS AND THE HIGHLITE OF OUR TOUR IN BEAUTIFUL MAUI WAS THE SCHOOL WHERE OUR GUIDE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WENT TO SHORE EXCURSIONS AND COMPLAINED. IT TOOK TWO DAYS BUT FINALLY A PERCENTAGE OF THE EXCUSION WAS REFUNDED. FOUND OUT LATER THAT MOST OF THE CRUISERS ON THAT EXCURSION COMPLAINED AND ALL GOT % REFUNDS. I FELT SATISFIED WITH WHAT THEY GAVE US AND WAS GLAD THEY TOOK OUR COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY. 10 CRUISES WITH CARNIVAL AND THAT WAS OUR ONLY COMPLAINT, EVER. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO HAVE SO MANY ENJOYABLE CRUISES WITH NO ISSUES. HERE'S TO MANY MORE!!

  12. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME. I HAVE READ THRU MANY OF THE AMSTERDAM POSTS BUT STILL HAVE ?S. SO WHAT AIRPORT IS THE ONE TO FLY INTO THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE HOLLAND AMERICA CRUISE TERMINAL? AND WHAT SECTION OF AMSTERDAM IS CLOSEST TO CRUISE TERMINAL FOR HOTEL? IS A TAXI FROM HOTEL TO CRUISE TERMINAL VERY EXPENSIVE? WILL DO SHIP TRANSFER FROM SHIP TO AIRPORT SO NO WORRIES THERE. WE WILL BE DOING 3 DAYS BEFORE CRUISE AND JUST FEEL LOST ABOUT IT AT THIS POINT. ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE VERY APPRECIATED!

  13. Yes we are! We are on the feb 2016 journeys 13 day southern itinerary. Looking forward to it. It has 3 ports we have never been to yet. We sail for the ports and not the ship. Knock on wood, we have not had a bad cruise ever!!! None of the bad reviews have given me any worries. All will be wonderful!!

  14. now you have me thinking..... Our post flight is swa at 11:30 a.m. I hadn't considered having somebody not on the cruise check in for us. Don't you need to print something though?

no, just have them check you in and when u get to the airport you put your confirm number in at the kiosk and print your boarding pass and luggage tags. Works fine. Southwest boarding really is the worst!
