  1. Greetings fellow Cruise Critics.

It is that time again for me to plan our family cruise and we have opted to try something entirely different and new.

Next year we are looking to try a Carnival cruise as a family departing from New York.

What I am looking for from everyone is some great advise and suggestions on which hotel to stay at pre departure as well as parking arrangements for our vehicle during the cruise.

We have sailed a couple times out of Bayonne and used the Hilton Garden Park and Sail package which worked out perfect and ideally we would like something like this again but in New York so we can arrive a couple days ahead of time to explore the city. We would also consider parking at the terminal for the duration even though the rates seem extremely high.

So to those who have driven to Manhattan for your cruise could you please tell us about your arrangements and experiences.

  2. That's not true. Sounds like some sort of misunderstanding.

Hmmmmm? I will definitely inquire on my next booking then. I am sure my TA would not try to pull a fast one, maybe that particular booking would not allow the police discount because of other savings and discounts that were already applied.

Even if I only save $20, that is $20 more in my pocket.

  3. I only ever tried to apply the discount once and the savings was minimal for that particular booking. My savings through my agent and C&A was significantly more than what RCI offered on their site for the police/fire discount. I asked my TA to try to apply the discount but I was told it can only be applied via RCI's site??????

  4. Hi Bob!!!!

When we cruised together in 4/09, they did not require helmets but did have a supply of them. When I cruised in 4/10, they both required all guests to wear helmets and supplied them. They also have wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads too but they are not required. At least they weren't in 4/10.

When are you cruising this time? January if I recall...

In addition to this, I believe RCI requires all children to wear helmets on the roller blading track also. All the equipment is supplied.
