  1. No I never heard any noise from the elevator. The only noise would come from the hallway which should only be those in the Havanna rooms on that side.

Thank you! We were originally booked in 5229 but 5208 just became available so I switched. Looking forward to trying the different configuration!

  2. We stayed in 5205. It was smaller than the sideways inside we had on the Dream. But it was nice that it was by the elevator so there wasn't any noise from the Havana Bar.

    Loved the Havana area!

Can you hear the elevator from the cabin? I’ve been in a hotel room where we had to move because the elevator kept us up all night.

  3. I hate to hijack this post but we are already booked in a regular Inside 5229 Havana on the Horizon for Memorial Day weekend. 5208 just became available and we were wondering the same thing. Maybe the layout will be better. We also read that there is easier access to the Havana area from the port side- you don’t have to walk through the bar.

Can you hear the elevators in 5208?

Where did you see a picture of the TV? I’ve been looking for pictures of the sideways inside and I haven’t found any of the cabins on the Vista or the Horizon???

  4. Were on the same cruise 1/8/18. We cruise quite a bit from Jan-March. You never know. It’s been great in January and freezing in March and visa versa. Fingers crossed it will be warm I actually hope it will be hot for HMC. One of my favorite beach stops!

  5. We were in Barbados yesterday and the Gem is just hanging in the harbor. Our cab driver told us it is “dead” lol. We saw it leave the pier under its own power but another person at the port told us it will have to be towed back into our spot when we leave. We love the Gem! So sad!

  6. Do you have to wait to purchase the day pass when you get there? Did you see the Daiquiri Shack?

We purchased at the hotel desk. We waited for a hotel who was checking out ahead of us on line. We did not make any sort of reservation ahead of time. I didn't see a daiquiri shack. The hotel had a really nice pool bar.

  7. If our itinerary doesn’t change, we will be there from 7-1. Thoughts on whether it would be worth it to go here?

IDK. Depends on how early you get there. With such a short visit you may want to just do a ship's exclusion. Or you could just walk to the British Colonial in Downtown Nassau. You could book a pass ahead of time on line or just get there early and pay at the desk. I would call ahead to see how early they will take you.

  8. We are on the Summit 11/11 and we'll go wherever it goes. I'm following but I'm predicting that we might be leaving from Florida although it wouldn't bother me to leave from Bayonne. This has been an interesting conversation. I think I read somewhere that Carnival cancelled all of the October cruises for the Fascination out of San Juan.

  9. This is very sad news; my thoughts and prayers go out to the Captain's family. And may the Captain rest in peace.

I learned the sad news in a blast email from Celebrity -- a note from Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, accompanied by her beaming, smiling stock photo. Totally jarring, given the message. I wish someone in X's communications dept had had the good sense not to use that photo for this particular "news" email. (No photo at all, or, better yet, one of Capt. Bouzakis, would have been more appropriate.)

    Again, RIP Capt, Bouzakis

    OMG! Couldn't agree more!

  10. Thanks for the warning and the head's up! Sorry this happened to to you. Terrible in the middle of the afternoon. It's a shame your vacation had to end that way. Ignore those who are saying you shouldn't have left the backpacks. Hindsight is 20/20!

  11. It might be $75 with lunch. From the Jitney stop to the hotel you have to cross two streets and walk up a slight hill to the hotel entrance. The walking problem would be from the ship to the Jitney stop in front of McDonalds. Maybe 6-7 blocks.
