  1. The difference between a veranda cabin and a concierge cabin on our cruise is about $300 pp. So my question for experienced Oceania cruisers who have done both - is the difference worth it? Normally, I would just be happy with a decent veranda but we are getting so many perks on our cruise (including OBC and TA rebate) - that in the end I didn't see it being as expensive as it sounds (the $300 pp) - but still curious on whether it's a good upgrade or a waste of money.

  2. If you order a bottle of wine for dinner and drink half of it. Like they do on other cruise lines - will they give you a number so you can drink the remaining wine in that bottle the next evening?

  3. I kind of laughed reading through most of the responses here. First, Ukraine is not even close to where most of the ships will sail in this part of the world. Second, out of the thousands of dollars going to the cruise line - probably less than 5% winds up in Russia. Third, there are conflicts all over the world - there will always be conflicts and there has always been conflicts. Anyone been to Venezuela lately (including Isla Margarita)? What about Burma or China - have you checked their civil liberties lately. The point being (this is coming from someone who has lived and traveled all over the world) is that a Baltic cruise is as safe and enjoyable as anything out there. I personally hope more people cancel - then Oceania can give us more goodies to entice travelers!

  4. I think we are going to do the Old City tour. My neighbor (who is going with us) believes it will be too commercial (he believes the guides are paid by various store owners to send them business) - I don't believe this - but if someone can just confirm (so I can say "see, you're wrong"). Those who have taken this tour - is it one of the better walking tours you have taken? Also, I read that tipping between 5 and 10 euros is appropriate - is that correct?

    Thanks

  5. We have booked RomeInLimo for all three of our Italy stops - and everything I have read about them has been top-notch. They have suggested that we use a private guide on our tour of the Vatican at a cost of 150 Euros. Just wondering if anyone has used the private guide provided/suggested by RomeInLimo and either glad they did or thought it was a waste of money. Perhaps others have used private guides through other tour services as well - perhaps they can comment on this question as well.

  6. Having worked in Latin America for ten years and being familiar with Santiago - using UPS or FedEx would be prohibitly expensive. If you're not concerned with cost then I would use either and be happy that your things will wind up back home safely. If cost is a consideration then you could always use the Chilean Post Office - that would be far less expensive; however, not as safe and much slower. Either way you will have to go through customs and that could be a big hassle - you may need to prove that anything being sent home was not purchased on the trip.
