  1. They never made it to Freeport they ended up staying in key west the whole time :/. I am wondering if the ship will even be able to get back to port by Sunday for us to leave.

Probably too late to help you now but I live in Jacksonville and the Port was closed, I THINK until Sunday. The Navy moved ships off shore as well. I saw the port today and it looks fine, and the parking lot across the street was dry today with cars there.

I hope you have a pleasant and fun cruise whenever you go. I feel sorry for those on Elation this past week.

  2. Planning a group Southern Caribbean cruise on Crown Princess and would love input on the ship itself. Condition of the ship, service, restaurants and food, activities offered, pool decks and crowds for chairs etc. I have looked at all the pictures and read the descriptions on the Princess website but would like personal opinions.

I appreciate any of your input. Thanks in advance !!

  3. With all your information and great input, we have decided to go with the midship cabin on ALoha deck. We will not have the fastest access to the deck, but the exercise will help with the food intake and we will be stable if we should hit lousy weather. Like having an insurance policy that helps keep the weight gain down too.

THANKS TO ALL AGAIN !! CC ROCKS !!! :)

  4. Riviera Deck 14 aft inside cabin R 737 o R 741 price:$2068 per couple

Aloha Deck 12 midship inside cabin A511 price: $2228 per couple

Lido deck 15 forward inside cabin L245 price: $2068 per couple

Which would you choose based on location / price ?? We will be spending most of the sea days on the pool deck with a large group.

    Many thanks again!!:)

  5. Deck 15 Riviera, any cabin in the 700-600's.

Right out the aft doors to the aft pool then up a few stairs to the Buffet/Bar area. Great location!!

I thought the aft pool was outside deck 14. I was concerned cabins R745 on deck 14 aft would be directly under the buffet and noisy. ???No or yes.

  6. Trouble picking a cabin. Both are inside due to pricing.

I like deck 15 for easy access to the pool and buffet. It is below the saunas and dressing rooms of the spa so I hoping it will be quiet.

I like deck 12 being more stable as it is midship. No noise concerns here.

In the Southern Caribbean, will there be mostly calm waters for a forward cabin on a high deck???

    Thanks in advance !!

  7. Hard to decide which cabin to choose so if you are familiar with them, input would be great. We cannot afford a balcony and do not like Emerald Deck above the clubs stc. due to noise

    DECK 12 ALOHA A511, inside

    A339 inside

    A721 inside

    DECK 14 RIVIERA R241 inside

R747 THE MOST STERN OV PORTHOLES NEAR AFT POOL

    DECK 15 LIDO L241

    L245

Any help re: convenient location, quiet, somewhat stable in wind.

    THANKS

  8. Because it is so near the pool, will that be a noisy location??

Also, do this 4 cabins have windows or port holes?

I am not sure if this location will be as calm as mid ship.

Thinking of booking one of these cabins for a future cruise but trying to get info before booking.

THANKS in advance for your help !

  9. I loved our cruise on the Celebrity Equinox. We were on her second sailing and having a new ship is tops. There was nothing about her that we did not love. Since our #1 choice (Oceania)is now out of our price range, Celebrity became a favorite.

Princess Emerald was very disappointing to us, both service and food, but that was a long time ago so I hope that Princess has improved. By your comments it sounds like Princess has done just that.

The itinerary for the two lines are so different and will probably be the deciding factor. I am definitely leaning towards Princess as it goes to the Southern Caribbean and the ABC islands which cannot be beat. Celebrity goes to the Eastern.

I am not thrilled with the CC reviews of the Crown Princess though, but I have time for more input.

    Thank you again !!

  10. I am elite on Princess, elite on Celebrity and have cruised on NCL a few times, but not on the Epic.

Given your criteria... I would recommend either Princess or Celebrity...I prefer Princess over Celebrity but others like Celebrity over Princess... I think both are very similar.

NCL... refer your desire for good food; I would skip unless price is a key factor... generally NCL is cheaper but so is the quality of the food in my opinion.

Can you tell me the differences between, and why you prefer Princess over Celebrity. Food, entertainment, service etc.

THANKS in advance for your help.

  11. Active 70 year olds want to have a Caribbean cruise reunion. We may have 10-20 couples and we want good food, entertainment, service, and nice ship with good price. We do not like the huge ships but will do if everything else fits the bill.

I have cruised on many cruise lines but cannot decide among the 3 above. Southern Caribbean itinerary seems to be the best as I have been there before.

  13. I am a seasoned cruiser on many different lines. I am trying to plan a reunion of friends who are all active 70 years old. There could be as may as 40 people or as few as 10. My goal is to find the best itinerary (eastern or southern caribbean) with the best entertainment, the best service and of course very good food and all that for the best price. I am not thrilled with ships that carry 3500 + passengers, nor the booze cruises.

The cruises I am looking at are ( in no paticular order):

    Norwegian Epic

    Crown Princess

    Celebrity Silhouette

    Royal Caribbean Navigator

Any input on these ships would be greatly appreciated. I have plenty of time to make the right choice as it is not until 2018.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP !!

  14. Thanks for telling us about the Culinary Art Center activity. That is probably my favorite thing to do on a sea day. I really enjoy hearing from the Hosts, as well as the chefs. Always something to learn.

How long are the demos and how often are they offered?

Is there an additional charge to attend? Do we need to make reservations ahead of time?

We are supposed to receive tickets to a some kind culinary and cocktail event from out Travel agent.

I love reading the daily live posts. I hope the weather clears and stays sunny for our cruise too. We board on 11/27 only 7 days away !!!

    THANKS !

  15. HAL allows 1 - 750ml bottle per person on embarkation. If you bring more than 1 per person, you are charged corkage of $18 per bottle. You are no longer able to bring it on from every port; should you decide to purchase wine in port, either forfeit it until it is returned the last night, or pay the $18 corkage per bottle. Wine must be in your carry-on; if it is discovered in your checked luggage, you will be called to the "naughty" room to have a little talk about it. :D

The 2 Litre bottles are not allowed, just as the boxes of wine are not allowed, as they are over the 750ml limit.

    Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :)

Thanks for the clairification. Can we bring 1 2L bottle in lieu of 2 750ml bottles at embarqation ?

  16. A few people on this thread said there is no limit to how much wine you can bring on board and that you can bring more on from every port.

Does this mean they do not charge a corkage fee for any additional wine you bring above the allowed1 bottle per person ?

If you bring wine onboard at a port during your trip, do they hold it until the last night of your cruise of can you take it to your cabin?

My husband likes a wine that only comes in 2 L bottles. Will they allow each of us to bring one of these without additional charge, or will there be a corkage fee for the second bottle?

I apologize for all the ?'s but this thread provoked a lot of questions. I thought HAL permitted 1 bottle pp without charge and above that, a corkage fee with no limit to how many bottles you can bring. This thread says differently. Please help with the current rules.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE !

  17. Boarding of new pax on HAL usually starts at 1130

Just so I understand correctly... does this mean that if this is our first HAL cruise, we must board later than the other passengers because they have priority boarding?

Thanks all for the helpful replies !! CC is such a great resource and a perfect way to make friends prior to a cruise.

    THANKS AGAIN !!

  18. New to HAL but seasoned cruiser. What time can we start boarding the Oosterdam in Ft. Lauderdale ?

Other cruiselines we have started as early as 10 am which is great so there is time to settle in before sail away.

W:rolleyes::rolleyes:e are driving to the port and parking there so time is at our leisure.

    Getting excited for November 27.

    Thanks for your help !
