  1. Loving your trip—my DH and I will be on the Getaway in 2 weeks. This trip has been on our wish list—after reading and viewing your photos (my iPhone takes crappy photos—yours look great!)—we will be visiting the Cruise Next desk! Hope your mom is feeling better—bet she shared the photos with everyone!!

  2. You do know that if you buy cheese outside of the US, you need to declare it at customs when you come back into the US. At which time you have a very good chance that it will be confiscated.

I have bought that wonderful Gouda cheese in St Martin several times--as long as there is no meat, it is allowed thru US Customs. So no bacon wrapped cheese! So sorry to hear that it was not allowed onboard! We are travelling on the Gem in December and my husband suggested we buy cheese! Thanks for the heads up!

  3. Thanks for the info so far! Please keep it coming, I need all I can get LOL... We are not anchored out at any of our ports of call, so we won't have to worry about being tendered. In St. Thomas we will be at the Havensight pier.

I plan to take cabs to all my stops to maximize time. Anyone know how far/time it takes to get to mountain top from the ship? I only want to go there for a quick stop just to take a pic of the view and maybe chug a banana daiquiri just to say I was there! Also, the shopping I want to do would just be souvenir stuff, not looking to spend much time shopping either. The main chunk of time would be at Coki beach. I really would like to be able to get to both Mountain Top and Coki beach if possible. I've seen that it's 40 minutes to Coki beach from pier, but if anyone can tell me how far from ship to Mountain Top it would help me decide if there will be time for everything.

Hi there! Mountain Top (view of north side St Thomas to include BVIs) and Paradise Point (south side and view of St Croix on a clear day) are 2 different places. MountainTop, you need a taxi. Great souvenir shop up there, thus you skip town. Coki Point and the Aquarium is not too far, again would need a cab but you should find that pretty easy. I agree: frozen banana drinks are great and be sure it has Cruzan rum☺ and enjoy the view!
