I always worry about this type of balcony with a GTY:D
Personally, I wouldn't mind having this balcony! As long as it's a balcony and I can go outside and look at the gorgeous , aqua water and the beautiful stars at night! We booked a guaranteed balcony for our next cruise!

This is the best review ever! I have never been so entertained reading a cruise critic review. Please add my name to the list of people that want to join you on the next cruise! I am putting you in charge of all excursions!;) Jane

So far we have been lucky on a guaranteed cabin. Last time we had guaranteed Oceanview and was able to upgrade to a spa balcony for just $40 per person! This time we have guaranteed balcony and have our fingers crossed and are hoping for a good one!

Just found your review and am really enjoying it! I noticed it's been a while since you've posted. Hope all is well and that you will continue it soon. Jane

With regards to the eggs Benedict… I read on Cruise critics that it is better to order eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side. That way it seems to be freshly made. This worked on our last cruise! Try that on your next cruise and let us know how it works.

Way too much for me! Enjoy your balcony and nice location! Think of all the drinks and excursions you can have with that money!

48...for us!!! Freedom on December 7, 2014!

Take the Carnival Freedom out of Fort Lauderdale on December 7. I know a couple of single girls in their mid 20s that are on that trip. Ports are Key West, Cozumel, Grand Cayman. You must take the Grand Cayman stingray city trip. It is a blast!:)

We'll be on the Eurodam waving good bye! See you in a week!

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am going to try and see what they do. If worse comes to worse, I will get at least 2 on ....one for my husband and one for me. Then maybe the last day I'll get the last two sent to my room. Keeping my fingers crossed… Jane

Hi!
Has anyone ever brought on 4 small bottles of wine or champagne for your free corkage bottle? Just put mine in my carry on and then wondered if it was allowed. Any of our CC friends know what the policy would be on this???
Thanks!

Thanks for info

I took a picture of the prices but it's at home.
We got 100 minutes for $55 (the smallest plan).
Speed depends on your location. Most connections in cabin are crawling. The balconies are worse. Best bet is to go to a public space - I had good connections in the Lido and Explorations Cafe areas.
By "good connections" be warned... it's not DSL speed. More like dial up if you remember what that was like.
After being connected for almost 20 min the first day - the first email still hadn't gone out. I went up to the Explorations and complained. She credited me back the 20 min and I was able to send from there.
There were no internet happy hours that I had in trips past... ie between this time and that time - you only get charged for 1/2 the time you are connected.
With wifi easily available in most port resturants etc, we had more than enough time to touch base with home.
Thanks for the information! I really appreciate it. My husband is following the stock market and doesn't feel he can be away from it for too long!!

Thanks for taking the time to write this review! We are sailing her in a few days and love your meal/dessert suggestions. Did you purchase any internet time? If so, how much was it and how slow/fast was it?

Take care of Ms. Eurodam...we'll be on her next week!
Bon Voyage!!!:)

Yes we are on back to back. Never been so high up. I will let you know but I am sure we will be fine with it. I love being so close to the gym don't really care about the spa. I do love all the water features. I am just glad I went from a vh to a vq!
Ditto for us...never been up this high! DH is really excited, but I'm a little nervous from reviews and if we have rough seas! Let's hope for sunny skies!

We are also on your cruise on the 23th on the eurodam we also paid for a vh guarantee but at a discounted price. our stateroom assignment ended up on the vq staterrom 10018 very happy with that. Enjoy your room.
Aren't you on the first leg of the Western Caribean? If so, you'll have to let us know how you enjoyed 10018 on the first leg of your journey. Hopefully, we all will just love it. Enjoy your room !!!!

Wow, I'm not familiar with your ship, but it sounds like you started with an obstructed or partial view. I probably would have taken the first upgrade! Lucky you :)
Yes, we paid for a fully obstructed view guarantee. However, when we got our assignment, it was a partially obstructed view, category G. We were very happy with that. Then yesterday we got this upsell email. Now we are even happier!:):)

Thanks everyone who wrote in to say we made a good deal! After reading more about VQ, I was having second thoughts and wondering whether I should call back and change it! My DH is thrilled with it , saying he always wanted to be on that deck! He figures this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity! Do you all think that we had 3 emails because we booked with HAL PCC? I would love to hear from others who got emails for upsells or who have stayed before in this category ! Oh...it is the Eurodam on March 23! Thanks again!

Upsell
Just got my third email from HAL regarding an upsell. The first one was on February 27. To go from an HH guarantee to a veranda was $79 to go from HH to Oceanview was $49. Then got my second upsell emailed to us on March 3. That was a veranda for $69 extra and oceanview for $39 extra. Then today I got my final upsell email. We snagged a VQ (after paying for HH guarantee) for $39 more each and we got to pick the cabin. I know, I read here on Cruise critic that the balcony is very small. However, we wanted to be up high on the 10th deck...So we are happy. We used HAL PCC when we originally booked the cruise.

Just a quick hint… If you happen to have American Express platinum card, call and book with American Express travel and you get a couple of free perks. For example, you get a free dinner at the pinnacle grill the first night. So if you have American Express platinum, use it. I wish we had known this before we booked this cruise. Booked with HAL PCC and missed out. If you decide to join us on this cruise, I'll see you around the pool and the bars.

We have traveled from Massachusetts to Florida many times since 1991, when our daughter was 3. Don't know where I got this hint, but we would give her a roll of dimes to start the trip. Anytime she misbehaved or got fussy, she would have to give me a dime from her roll. When we arrived at our destination, she could spend the rest any way she wanted! As she got older, it was quarters then dollar bills! It worked great every time! A few times I never had to ask her for any money!:) you might want to try something like this to keep things under control on the trip! Hope it helps!

Thanks for the review! Sailing her in three weeks! Can't wait! However, I am perplexed that you didn't dine in MDR! We always love it, although sometimes it does take soooooo long! Do you remember how much the excursion was to St John? Thanks and welcome back!
