  1. If you go to the North American departure ports page, you will see tons of discussions and reviews. It was a big help to me when looking for a hotel there and in FLL. We stayed at the Intercontinental, got a great rate on Hotwire or Priceline. Perfect location, too.

I second this. We stayed at Intercontinental twice b/f cruises out of Miami. Great price and very nice location, and property! I'm pretty sure we booked it through Hotwire.

Cathy, I always feel like I'm meeting an old friend whenever I see your posts. I noticed you've been on a few cruises since we met on Eclipse in 2011. We're counting down to our Silhouette cruise in two weeks.

    Happy New Year!!

So far today the Comertown Turnoff DOT site in Sheridan County, MT has observed the coldest WC value in the lower 48 states with -63F.

Nope, I get to move to the head of the line--this is a few miles SOUTH of our farm!!

  3. Been researching transfers as well and thinking of using TriRail to Ft Lauderdale. Does not look like the shuttle from Ft Lauderdale Station goes near our hotel - Hyatt Regency at Pier 66 but $5 rail then a cab for I guess $10 looks a better option than cab or super shuttle from MIA

Link to Tri Rail web site hear - http://www.tri-rail.com

    They also have an App

Thanks for the info Will&Hel. I hope JohninDC chimes in soon so I can decide what the best way is to get from MIA to the hotel in FLL. I agree with you that a cab wouldn't be too expensive once we get to FLL.

  4. American Shuttle is based inside MIA and will give you a quote on-line.

If you are not in a hurry you can save $$ by riding the Tri-Rail train from MIA to the FLL station (under $5 each person) and then use a cab or hotel shuttle to get from their to your hotel.

JohninDC, I've been paying attention to all of your useful advice on these boards and you seem very credible. If I were to take the train from MIA to FLL, what stop would I get off to get me closest to The Sheraton Beach Hotel?

  5. This is making me very curious. Yesterday I was looking at the Ft. Lauderdale port cam and watched Emerald Princess sail away. This morning she's back in port. Thinking I was mixed up, I checked the port and ship timetables. Sure enough, she was suppose to be sailing yesterday. Is she really back in port and does anybody know why??

  6. It won't be long until some friends will be boarding this ship with us in January. I will be reading your updates carefully because, as you know, there have been lots of questions about the ships and service lately. Thanks for posting!!

  7. I was in 4th grade and the patrol girl was leading our class out for recess. The phone rang in the office so she went to answer it. When she came back, she told us the president had been shot, but I misunderstood and thought she said "shocked". Mother was always telling us not to put our finger in the electrical outlets, so I thought "well that was dumb". When we came back in from recess, the principal came over the PA system and led us in prayer. Afterwards, she came to each classroom and talked to us. All the nuns and priests in our school were very upset, and of course by the time we went home it was very somber and the tv was on constantly, until after the funeral. So sad.

  8. Thanks for th information. We are flying into MIA and are staying in FLL for two night before our Silhouette cruise. Flying into MIA was $300 pp less than flying into FLL. So if we spend $100 to get to FLL then the savings are still substantial!:D. Rather spend that on excursions etc.

We are doing this same thing in Jan. b/c we are using a companion ticket. Now I am trying to figure out the best (cheapest) way to get to the hotel in FLL where we will be for 3 nights pre-cruise. Have you figured it out yet?
