Texas national guard sending 9,000 additional soldiers to disaster area. Rescuers are reporting coming under gunfire by looters and hijackers.

The RC ship is planing on docking on Friday. Port should be open by then, if not earlier. Anyone know the record for "Free" days on a cruise ship?

Hopefully it won't be that bad. There are two towns that are wrecked, Rockport and Aranas so have severe damage and recovery can't be begun till the waters recede.

In the mean time looting has broken out in Houston. :-(

Unfortunately this is beginning to look more amd more like Katrina. Two dams above Houston are about to be released into the Bayous to prevent bursting (think levees here). Everyone who can help is helping.

This will be an experience you'll be able to share with people you meet on future cruises forever. Is the entertainment group doing additional shows and trivia contests on board.? How about suggesting a follow up to the hairy chest contest, a hairiest armpit contest.

My favorite Carnival cruise experience was on the Breeze's second Mediterranean cruise...got soaked thoroughly while standing in a cove balcony during a storm in the Adriatic. Second best Carnival Cruise was on the Splendor (love that ship). Was helmet diving on the sea bottom in Cabo when a sudden storm came up and we needed an emergency evacuation from the sea bottom. Leaving for sea days 73-76 in November on the Carnival Imagination. :-)

Sounds like a lot of passengers will get 2-5 extra sea days credit towards Platinum status....there's always a silver lining underneath the clouds.
