  1. I have not done this excursion, but I have done tons of research.

There are two different dog sled excursions you can do, the one on the dirt roads and the one where you fly via helicopter to a glacier and are pulled in a sled.

Besides the two different terrains, cost is the biggest difference. The dirt road experience will cost around $129/person and the glacier experience will cost around $450-500/person.

I have also heard that in the early part of the season that the glacier experience has been canceled more often because of weather.

I guess it comes down to cost and want type of experience you are looking for.

  2. Thank-you everyone.

I did actually do the "Are you excited, it's getting close to leaving time" call and found they are on this Sunday's cruise on the ms Koningsdam.

I'm not sure if it's too late since I thought they were leaving mid Feb not this weekend. :o

But I will call Holland America and see what I can do, but I really appreciate everyone's suggestions.

    Have a great night.

  3. Hello,

I am not familiar with Holland America's website and I would like to purchase a gift for a friend that will be sailing in February.

The bad part is I am not even sure which ship they are on let alone their booking # and from what I can see without that info I cannot even see what items are even available.

Can someone tell me if there is another way or area that I can view that type of info?

Also without knowing their booking number or ship can I even send them anything?

I have done this tons of times on Carnival, Royal and Princess and I have never had to have that much info.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kim

  4. Hello Fellow cruisers,.

Just wondering if anyone knows the bed location of 11613, or any surrounding cabins and I can figure out the location from that.

Thank you to all that reply.

If the Harmony follows the same as Oasis and Allure, the bed location of 11613 will be close to the closet. This is a connecting cabin and it's on the left.

Here is what I saved from a thread from user clarea so I can always remember. It does get a little tricky to figure out when rooms are around the suites and jr. suites.

"Look at a deck plan and find cabins that are connecting. The cabin on the left as you enter the cabin will have the bed by the closet. The cabin on the right will have the bed by the balcony. This pattern will repeat with every pair of cabins."

  5. It took 11 weeks for my wife's refundable credit to get sent back to her and it's been 13 weeks now and I've still not received mine. Both were veteran's OBC and after inquiring 3 weeks ago I was told that mine was taking longer because it was only about $10. Not sure why that matters, but it does, at least this time. Usually, if we have any refundable credit it only takes about 4-6 weeks, but not this time. Why? Darned if I know.

If you still haven't received your refund, send an email to customerrelations@princess.com and tell them your name, stateroom, booking number and voyage number and they'll get back to you.

    Tom

Thanks Tom. Having the email address and the info they will need helps should the check not arrive.

  6. Thank-you everyone.

Since the holidays are coming up I will wait for 8 weeks to pass and then contact them if it has not appeared.

I also appreciate the notice to look for the plain envelope, I had heard that one before and made sure my husband who normally picks up the mail does not throw anything out without checking all envelopes first. :o

I was hoping it would not be US funds, but since I work for a bank hopefully it will not be too hard to cash/deposit.

  7. Hello all,

I was on the Oct 27th Regal repo cruise and because of when I booked I was able to buy OBC at a currency rate of 1.20 CAD. I bought a lot of OBC since by the time we sailed the US/CAD rate was 1.35.

We had about $300 left at the end of the cruise and I understood it would be about 4-6 weeks before I would receive a check from Princess.

The 6 weeks is not up yet, but I'm wondering if the 4-6 weeks is correct and I forgot to find out would the funds be refunded in US or CAD.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks,

    Kim

  8. Have never heard that you have 60 days to purchase FCC's

I have in the past when we did not purchase a FCC onboard received an email with an offer to purchase, however, the perk amounts were reduced...i.e...say for a 10 day cruise/balcony room - a 35.00pp SBC vs. the usual 50.00pp SBC.

Ok, good to know. I thought that was a little long after the fact and she did not mention that the perk would be different.

But I'm sure I could have called back and talked with someone else and had a totally different answer. :D

  9. I was on the same sailing and we used the princess@sea to buy our FCCs this time. I was a little worried when I arrived home and there was no email. I called last Thursday and they did not see anything on file for me and were going to transfer me to the Captain's Circle desk.

I had to say I would call back since I had to run for a train, but the lady I was talking to said I had 60 days after my cruise to buy the FCCs. I thought this was strange, has anyone else heard of this?

Good news, an email showed up yesterday with my confirmations so I would say that Regal was way behind. I did notice that area was always busy with people every time we walked by, I figured it was because of all the rain. :D

  10. So happy to read the souffles are still on the menu. It's been a while since we've cruised with Princess, but I still remember the souffles (and the sauce that comes with it!). A different one every evening. No need to look at the menu, just bring me the souffle :D

The souffles are not available every night, there are a number of nights with them but not every night. :(

  11. Good afternoon all!

I was hoping some members could help me out. I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend on our upcoming b2b cruise on Allure and then Regal Princess in April. I met her on my first year at university and have been together for 7 years now (I'm 26 and she is 25). I have done all the pre proposal work; figure out ring size and type she likes, ask her father permission and buy the ring.. All I need now is a perfect spot to propose, this is where I need the help!

So here was my original idea...we are from Scotland and like to dress up on formal night so I had planned on finding a location on the ship (was thinking the deck on top of the bridge on allure) on our first formal night and propose after dinner. Ideally I would like to propose at the start of our 14 night b2b as I want to enjoy the rest of the cruise without stressing! I am open to ideas about Regal Princess too though

I guess my big question is does any members have any ideas on some other ideas or options that would be a bit different and special? She is the type of girl who wouldn't like anything too public either.

    Thanks!

While the top of the bridge on Allure will be nice, the most romantic spot on Allure would be in the Central Park at night. With the white twinkling lights and the ocean sky, plus you could book dinner at one of the speciality restaurants that are right there. 150 Park is amazing for dinner and very romantic.

Whoops, I should have read the whole thread before answering.

Congrats, I see you did my idea regardless. But great idea to have the photographer there for you.

  12. 14 minutes after your first post and you let us know you're still waiting? I think it might take a little longer than 14 minutes to get the conversation going...

The OP is new to cruise critic, I don't believe they thought someone would answer their question that fast. I would guess they did not know they could edit their first post to add their extra info or the time limit had gone by to edit the first post..

    Way to be helpful Elitein85days....

  13. The beauty of Princess, cabins are all ready at boarding. Unlike other lines where you schlep your carry on around for a couple of hours. Go straight to your cabin.

This is true on most Princess ships, but I have been hearing on the Royal and Regal the cabins are not ready for passages until 1pm. I personally will not know until after the OP has sailed, I will be joining this ship when they are leaving on Oct 27th.

I have heard of people that will just go to the cabin and drop their bags and leave right away since the cabin steward is still working away making everything available.

This is just my opinion, but I believe the stewards are having to take care of more cabins by themselves and passengers are not leaving by 8am like they are asked to, these two items combined mean having the cabins turned over by 11:30am is not possible any longer.

  14. Do you really base your selection of a cruise based on other people's likes & dislikes?

Wow, that was kind of uncalled for....I don't think you were trying to be mean but that is how it came across. At least for me.

I personally love hearing about other peoples travels, it's why people write and read reviews. I thought I would love a British Isles cruise, but after reading tons of reviews I now realize that that would not be a cruise for me while I am still working. Way too port intensive and I would need another vacation after I get back just to relax.

  15. Thanks guys. Great suggestions. Now I just have to choose from the crab shack or crown grill.

I haven't eaten at either and will only be choosing one.

I have not experienced the crab shack, but we have done the crown grill before and it was one of the most amazing meals I have had.

When I asked how much to have a lobster tail added to my steak, I was told there was no extra cost and 4 showed up. Instead of deciding which sides to order all of them came. And dessert was a sample of all they had to offer.

At that time it was $25 a person, I believe it's now $29 but even at that price I could not get a meal like that on land.

  16. Princess usually changes their exchange rate every 6 months. Even if the rate changes after booking. The rate you booked at is applied to the whole booking.

Thank-you, I was hoping it would be quarterly.

I booked a couple of cruises under the $1 deposit promo that happened back in March and they were at 1.35. I notice that cruises are now at 1.30 for Canadians. I was hoping it might change again before the sip and sail promo ends but I doubt that will happen.

  17. Hello,

Does anyone know or have you observed when Princess updates their exchange rates? Looking for the USD to CAD rate, but the question would apply to any exchange.

Not sure if it's monthly or quarterly, not that it will make a big difference but every bit helps.

    Thanks,

    Kim
