thanks!
How much, if anything, did you tip per person at the specialty restaurants and how were people dressed?
Thanks
-
How much do people tip per person on half day or all day snorkel trips, assuming no special service is required? I have not been on any in years and want to be current in my practice.
thanks

When you do tip in a specialty restaurant, how much do you tip per person?
Also, do you dress more formally there?
thanks and happy new year

Entertaining and helpful reviews--I sail Sunday so please finish before then and cover dress code and tipping in specialty restaurants
Happy new year

Thanks very much! That is extremely good advice. On some ships, I have found tucked away buffet stations at lunch and/or dinner offering Indian or Chinese dishes, which are often very good, since the cooks are fom there. Did you spot any on Breakaway?

Thanks--sounds great. If I go there alone, do you think my things would be safe on the beach?
-
Thanks, C46. I appreciate it and am sorry I do not anyone who has used a camera mask--but they sure are tempting!

I will appreciate any practical advice about the Breakaway, which I am taking on 1/5, such as how to avoid the reported long lines for food; which entertainment venues are best; how much you tip per person in specialty restaurants; whether there any tucked away Asian lunch stations; whether you can get an advance look at the main dining menus to decide which nights to eat elsewhere; etc
Thanks very much!

I am a novice diver and experienced snorkeler. I welcome suggestions for tour operators in both areas in Barbados and whether this is a good snorkeling/diving island or one where other activities are more interesting.
thanks

For a trip next week, I will appreciate any advice about choosing which of these places to visit a volcano and which to snorkel at, if I cannot do both. Or in both places is one activity much better?
thanks

I welcome snorkeling and diving suggestions for these islands. I am a very avid snorkeler (no liquor/music sails) and a very novice diver.
thanks

For a trip in January I will appreciate advice on these snorkel tours or others. I am a very avid snorkeler, not interested in the best liquor or party atmosphere on tours. Thanks

How was your Blue Water trip? I will be there in early January
thanks

I did it 2 years ago--not strenuous--but sadly, very few fish

Maryellen, where did you go and did you like it?

I will greatly appreciate any advice--postive or not--for snorkeling, scuba diving or ziplining in Samana. Last time there, I found Caya Levantado to be pretty, but not a good snorkeling spot.
thanks!

On Antigua, I enjoyed the Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tour (ziplining)--they also offer a combo with a beach stop and our ship offered a ziplining; beach and snorkel sail combo.
On St. Kitts, people enjoyed a private excursion called something like Xtreme Adventure, which included a visit to the "Pillars of Hercules"
Both tours are reviewed on Tripadvisor

Mary Ellen, I should note that I went on a boat at St Kitts, but not at Antigua--perhaps there is a reef near Antigua which offers better snorkeling than their lovely beaches do.
I take it your cruise does not include St Thomas or Tortola, which offer some excellent snorkeling?
-
I have not been to Barbados, but the others are not very good destinations for snorkeling

Very easy. For example, clearing the mask of water takes 10 seconds to learn and 5 seconds to do. And their staff was very patient with me--I was certified, but had never dived in the 2 years after that.
Your local library, book store or dive shop will have a how to book--the faster you see how easy the basics are (again, don't focus yet on how to set up the rig or how to calculate time between dives), the more relaxed you will be.
Pirate vs. Capt. Bob vs. Capt. Alan for snorkeling?

Thanks. That is my concern.
