  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. The tour goes to Riomaggiore, Monterosso and Manarola by bus. I totally agree with what you said about each persons activity level is hard to judge. We are late 60s/early 70s and walk easily with out any help. We were just in Alaska and walked 15K steps a day but its was flat with almost no steps. We can easily walk a mile or two and handle some steps but frequent inclines and large (20-30+)numbers of steps may be more difficult to us. Royal also has an excursion by boat which "could" be easier but is till labeled strenuous. We have spent multiple days in Florence before so we were really looking to visit Cinque Terre.
  2. Wondering if anyone has taken any of the Royal Caribbean tours to Cinque Terre? We are signed up for the small group tour but are concerned about the activity level. I know Cinque Terre's geography can be challenging. I see most of the tours say strenuous but can anyone comment on how active that may actually be?
  3. Question..... We spent 4 days in Rome before and saw some of the major sights at that time (Colosseum and Palatine, Pantheon, St. Peters, Vatican, Trevi Fountain....). This cruise we have a day in Rome and just booked the Rome on your own tour which basically takes you via high speed train back and forth. It drops you at St Peters station. Then we have 5 hours on our own to explore. Any suggestions on something to see in that area. We are not looking for museums but more wandering and local culture.I don't recall if that area is conducive to that? Any suggestions?
  4. We had an odd experience the only time we ever went to the ship's medical facility. My husband had surgical treatment for early cancer about 1 year prior to our Caribbean cruise. He was followed up closely and routinely with no issues. Midway through the cruise one of his eyes ( and the area around it) swelled up significantly and was tearing constantly. I'm a nurse so we don't normally rush to the doctor but it kept getting worse so we decided to go. I wanted to make sure it wasn't pink eye and be contagious. The physician evaluated my husband, drew labs, started an IV and observed him for a few hours. Then he quietly sat us down in a room and said this... " I'm sorry to tell you but your husband has had his cancer metastasized to his eye. He needs to get off at the next stop (I think it was Barbados) and go immediately to the hospital and get a CT scan." After my heart sunk when he said the word cancer I took a deep breath and calmed down. We didn't get off and go to the hospital but 2 days later the swelling was gone.We saw our doctor upon arriving home who felt he had an allergic reaction. That was almost 10 years ago. I can laugh about it now but at the time it was scary.
  5. I have always booked my own international flights but I am using it for the first time this year to go RT Barcelona. They were the same price as booking direct with Delta. They did let me choose my seats already even through the payment is not due till June. We are flying in 2 days early and leaving 3 days post cruise.
  6. Trying to decide which of two tours to take in Marseille. Both are provided by Italytours. If anyone has taken either one I would love some insight to help me decide. They both sound lovely! Best of Provence or Marseilles,Aix and Cassis Thank you!
  7. Thank you so much for the suggestions. It is most appreciated!
  8. Hi Hoping I can get some suggestions for excursions for a Royal Caribbean July 2024 Alaskan cruise out of Seattle. We will be a group of 8 which includes 3 kids ( 4, 6,8). Our stops are: Sitka- none of us have been here. Seems that there may be many things around town to interest the kids? Is that true? Skagway- a few of us have been here before and did the railway to the Yukon. Was looking at the Musher Camp? Juneau- some of us have done a helicopter to the glaciers. Is whale watching too much for kids? Definitely more challenging with 3 little ones. Want to try and reasonably manage our time so we don't overload them even if it means there are things the adults may miss. Otherwise it will not be fun for anyone! All suggestions will be most appreciated!
