  1. I've never sailed Celebrity, so I don't troll their boards and comment on the value.

Just checked and there is a 4 day Magic Bahamas Feb 28,2016 for $135 a day interior. Panama Canal and Transatlantic are about $100 per day.

Value, like beauty is in the eye of beholder, and not for us to judge what others want or like.

I'm a car guy, big time. I like german cars, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, Audi and so on. If you are not, you may think I'm crazy for driving a $60k Mercedes but I enjoy it, and can afford it. Yes I could drive an Accord and get better MPG, but no one ever opens their garage and sees an Accord and smile. A spring day, tail of the dragon, with the top down is why I love driving. I also change my own oil, rotate tires, do brake work and such because I enjoy playing with cars.

I's the same with cruises, I get excited walking to the boat but I get really wound up with Disney. It's just "better" and "worth it" to me. I actually sing the "Disney Boat Song" which drives my family nuts. I just point out to them that they don't have to come.

I think Disney is worth it, if you don't think so, don't cruise Disney. I won't miss you.

  2. As Moki mentioned, disney only has four ships to fill, and they fill them just about every trip. Using another site that tracks cruise prices, Disney rarely goes below $100 per person per day, when many cruise lines get below $50. There are some bargins, but most seem to be full price $135 or so per day.

If you and your kids like Disney World you'll love Disney Cruises.

I've had good and bad meals on different lines, but Disney is really good, not the best always. I like rotational dining where your serving team travels with you. They know what you drink and it's on the table night 2. When something didn't turn out right, the server quickly brought another item to replace what I didn't like.

The shows are Disney, not broadway, but they are all more family oriented than "Chicago".

On demand movies, and current movies in 3D are pretty cool.

We don't drink or gamble, so casino and bar space is wasted on us on most lines. Disney has free soda on deck and with dinner, no $9 per person per day soda card.

I like Fantasy's adult area better then Dream, but it's suppossed to get a makeover this fall.

I believe Disney is the only line to have fireworks at sea, not a huge selling point, but we were on board New Years, that was a pretty cool show on deck.

  3. We usually stay at the Hapton Inn Titusville, at I-95 and Highway 50 from Orlando. About 20 minutes to the port in the morning, free breakfast, we also park at the port.

Also, if you want seafood, try Dixie Crossroads in Titusville. You can google it and get the address. Their webpage has a coupon for a free appetizer. They have 5 or 6 kinds of shrimp on the menu, very fresh, reasonable prices. Was really impressed, but its an older place, low on ambiance.

  4. It downloads the Navigator each day. Gives you the "where can I eat right now", "what can I do right now" and port info with pier and all aboard times. There is usually an onboard shopping special on one tab, and an info page on the ship you are on. On big show nights they would highlight the show for that night.

I thought the most informative part was the activities, what movie is playing where and when. We would also lay by the pool in the morning and read the dinner menu and debate and decide what we wanted for dinner, then show up and change our minds.

The texting between us and "friends" was pretty neat on Dream. If you have people traveling not in your room, you can ask them for their 6 digit number and hen can message them.

  5. They didn't have lobster on our 4 night cruise, Did on the 7 day.

The promenade view was neat, great place to watch the parades and shows.

Go see Saturday Night Fever, great show, no advance tickets, show up 30 minutes before showtime. The other shows were ok, the ice show requires advance tickets, but also can just walk in.

I don't use the safes, but they are there in the closet.

If you want to skip Chops, you can get the chops steak in the MDR. We ate in the MDR every night, had great wait teams!

  6. We booked this as a work trip our 5th Disney cruise and last time we rented a Cabana on Serenity Bay. I've been checking three of four times a week since we booked, and today, 5 days before lockout #25 was available, so we booked it.

Our cruise is 4/6 to 4/10 so this is really last minute stuff. Last cruise it was the same thing, happened to check one day and none available, then a few days later one poped up. Look for the numbers, you'll see gaps in numbers where one is not shown as taken, but not as avaialble.

I know some people say you have to be concierge and so on, but this is the second cruise in a row we have booked one.

Yes a lovely Silver CC member can get one. I assume some one had reserved and cancelled. This cruise will put us as Gold as well.

  7. We drive down instead of flying so it's a little different. We have a 10:30 arrival for this next one, we'll stay in Titusville night before, and walk on in bathing suits, t-shirts, cover up what ever. We carry ONE backpack with everyones; iPads, kindles, an my laptop. We have one beach bag with lotion and extra t-shirts just in case. We don't take much jewelry and don't try to carry on wine or anything. We check 2 large roll ons for three adults and have room left.

I try to be in the adult hot tub by 11:00am, lunch is a panini fro Flo's and an afternoon by the pool as everyone else is carrying coats, pillows and suitcases.

Of the last three cruises, twice we had our checked luggage by about 3pm, once it was there when we returned from the drill.

I've had the threat of nothing to wear for dinner before, never been an issue.

Worst case, no luggage and you have early dinner, you can eat in Cabanas or do room service.

    Worry Less, Cruise More!

  8. 2. The $12 per day per person is split between cabin attendamt and wait staff. I usually give cabin person more in cash.

    4. You see the ships for 10 minutes before you get here. From the causeway over the bridge, frontage road and into parking. Plus all the Disney buses you see going there too.

Can't help you with the rest.

  9. We did a Mickey Cuise when the daughter was 19, and couldn't be a "kid". Turns out by luck there was a relatively large number of 18 to 20 yo's so the CM worked with them and "closed" one of the bars and turned it into a club for them. They did several different dance club bars things for a few hours each evening, and did a river, karaoke, and scavenger hunts for them.

The key was there was a group who wanted something to do with people THEIR age and Disney made it happen.

As mentioned above, they showed up, and the Cm worked with them to make it happen. Sitting in the room complaining makes nothing happen.

  10. We got one on Serenity Bay last cruise, there are none showing available on our upcoming cruise, however there are three not showing as avail or booked. I assume they will pop up, or we'll get on the wait list. We are silver till after this cruise, never been concierge.

  11. Been on Liberty twice. In the Med last summer is seemed slower than this last Dec headed to Mexico. I usually get the unlimited package and use it for work. it is good on iPad and iPhone, never tried facetime but I'm guessing it wouldn't keep up. My Mac does well, we use an F5 networks private server, takes a while to connect and handshake but once in it works like I'm sitting at my desk, just with a slight lag.

  12. Since you are local, you can get back a good deal of day one by getting as early arrival time as possible, and walk on the ship in swimwear with a cover up. My goal is to be in the pool/hot tub by 11am as everone else is still at the airport.

Also allows you to explore ship before thousands of people come on board.

  13. The only tickets in advance are the Ice show. There is a show called "Up in the Air" that was ok. A headliner musical show was somewhere in there and SNF was good, but the cast changes and we liked it better in July. There are also dozns of live music and DJ options, plus an 80's party and a white party. You'll have plenty to do.

  14. They charge for an hour of "island" time, which coud be 20 minutes, or all day what ever you want. As a cyclist, I've covered the ENTIRE island in 30 minutes, These are fat tired single speed beach cruisers, you are going to WANT to be off it after an hour or so. I did the road down past serinity bat cabanas, and the fire tower loop. the runway, to the tram station.

The fire tower is pretty neat if you've never been there. Take lots of pictures.

  15. Being the non-coffee drinker, I never looked for a coffee maker, but I don't remember seeing one. We were in deluxe verandas on deck 10, so you are one deck from free soda, tea or coffee.

Again, never needed two beds, but I swear there is a seam in the dream and fantasy beds like they can be separated. They aren't twin size, a little narrower.

I know they did on RCL, their check in has a together/seperate check in question.

  16. First, Canada has really, really good beer. Go there if you get a chance.

Second, the cruise line has booked all of the shore excursions and such, they will only re-route the cruise if they have to. Hence if they re-route you it isn't on a whim. Imagine the nightmare of canceling shore excursions while underway and refunding all that money.

Third the cruise contract is pages of mice type that says they can take you where and when they want. Insurance won't cover if you miss a port.

We booked a Western Carib Disney cruise because we had JUST been on an Eastern Carib. The night before we boarded I got a text and an email that our Western had become an Eastern due to a storm. We had one sea day or cloudy weather, the rest of the cruise was perfect.
