Gosh - that is terrible.  I decided to book my own flights a couple of days ago.  Yes, it cost more than I got as a rebate from Regent, but I have no regrets.  I'm a planner and a control freak and very picky about where my seat is located, so like to book way in advance.  What surprised me was how many business class seats were already sold on our return flight from London Heathrow, and it is still over 260 days out.  I didn't even want to wait until 210 days out and still end up paying an upcharge.

BUT....keep reviewing your airline reservation at least weekly...too many 'schedule changes' whether Regent books your air or you do...

Regent doesn’t have to pay; as I previously wrote, they need by default to book air to arrive a day prior to embarkation (money-wise, there is no difference for them versus booking to arrive on the embarkation date).  Then the majority would be mad at them if missing the cruise, because it really would be out of Regent control.

Concierge suites do arrive a day in advance as they have an 'included' 1-night pre-cruise hotel.  I suppose if Regent changed to booking EVERYONE to arrive a day in advance -they'd have to include that same pre-cruise hotel or you can be sure people would complain.  And then to 'include' that hotel Regent would have to increase the per-person package cost.  And people will complain....

Can I do that online or wait on board? Just starting to dig into the Cruise so thanks!

You can earn the RRPs by participating in various activities onboard.  No advance sign-ups needed.  Includes events such as the daily Trivia and other organized games such as shuffleboard, Baggo, Top Toss, skittles, Roll-a-Ball, golf putting, CrazyGolf.....lots of fun things to get to know your fellow cruisers.  I join every voyage and have earned MANY polo shirts, baggage straps, visors, caps....all Regent logo items.  But these are NOT available in the onboard shops.

I TOTALLY agree! EVERYONE likes some "MERCH" LOL  I just received our luggage tags and I better be careful not to get caught in the rain LOL, so flimsy they will disincarnate. I guess gone are the days of Document books and beautiful luggage tags!

Hey, if you like MERCH....join the onboard activities to earn Regent Reward Points to exchange for "Regent Merch" at the end of your voyage!  Check out PASSAGES every day for activities.

At one time the description of the suites stated that concierge and above suites received a tote bag - I am not seeing that anymore.

For those that are either currently sailing or have sailed very recently, are tote bags still being provided? I always found them useful to taking items to the pool.

It always seemed very petty to me that only concierge or above were entitled to receive a tote bag - for an item that could not cost more than a couple of dollars - seriously, for a company trying to portray a six star, uber luxury experience, not providing a tote bag for all suite categories, which in reality is nothing more than free advertising for the company seems very short-sighted.

They were available on our recently-completed Explorer voyage.  As you said, concierge & above.  Concierge and above also has an in-suite coffee/espresso maker which I would LOVE to have in just the Deluxe Suite.  But I guess they have to differentiate categories with different amenities.

Frankly, I prefer to bring my own bag which is a bit smaller and has an outside water bottle pocket.  Convenient for taking off the ship on shore excursions and hold everything we need.

When Regent resumed sailing after Covid, we went on the Explorer in the Carib. On a 10 nite cruise, the Pool Grill was open for dinner 4 nites. In October of last year we were again on Explorer for a 14 nite cruise and the Pool Grill was only open once. Very disappointing given that there is no other casual dining spot on board in the evening. We assumed this was a temporary move due to staff shortages but it now appears "somebody" in Miami made a random decision without thinking about the impact. Weather permitting, the Pool Grill should be open for an evening buffet. Come on Regent, live up to your marketing hype of "first class all the way".

Seems as though very few people used this venue...also based on our observations over many voyages pre- and post-covid.  terrible waste of food and labor when only a few people (often less than 20?) would use it on the nights it was open.

Yes, but this tells you what the requirements are today, not when they’ll change and what they’ll change to.

True!  Thus the need to regularly review requirements....the same as one regularly reviews future airline reservations for any changes that may have occurred since last check.

We are also on the Nov 10th Istanbul to Dubai cruise.  Wish they would give some indication as to what we can expect??? Maybe more of the med? Just dont want a lot of sea days please!!!

Regent, like all other cruise lines in the same predicament,  needs to work each voyage in the order of departure.  So it may be just a little while longer to wait...

    Patience is a virtue?  🙏

You seem to have a good handle on what their challenges are. I’ve never advocated that Regent should cancel the entire trip and give everyone their money back. However, what I’m reading is that a very high percentage of the passengers made this cruise reservation for the express reason that it included Israel and Egypt. Some, like us, were also excited about doing the Pompey tours, as well. Plus, we had arranged for a very cool boutique hotel for three nights in Rome. The problem, from the start, has been the reluctance of RSS to do anything at all to compensate us for the loss of Israel and Egypt. We had a three-way phone call between us, our TA and Regent. We were made to feel like they didn’t really care about us at all. The attitude was: We have your money. We will do anything we want to do with the itinerary. There will be no refunds or credits. And, Oh BTW, we are going to charge your CC another $2k+ if you cancel. So, sucks to be you and have a nice day.

Where is this "$2k+" coming from?  You've already received your invoice showing 'paid in full' when you made your final payment.

    Stoopid question:

What if I go to a bar, and my husband stays in the suite… Is only one of us getting “free” WiFi - and if he logs in first, I will still have to wait (to log in)?

    TIA, mm

    That is correct.

In 2018, we were on Navigator, Perth to Singapore (part of the WC). After skipping a port in Australia, we ran aground leaving Bali. Had to eventually return to port, stuck there for 36 hours, couldn’t get off the ship. As a result we missed Borobudur and were late to another port, canceling most excursions there.
    We were not happy.
What did Regent do? They gave everyone a fcc for 25% of the fare we had paid. We were happy customers.

We were on the full World Cruise 2018 and hadn't problem getting off the ship during those extra hours.  Gave me the chance to get another one of those famous $10 foot massages in the terminal. 😉

So, big changes to the 10 Nov Istanbul to Dubai itinerary.  Probably three more Med stops before going through the canal.  I hope they keep Luxor as they have maintained that stop even when Egypt was having their own internal problems.

Have you received confirmation of specific itinerary changes for that Navigator voyage?

Quite right. I’ve picked up Covid on two different cruises now. It’s out there everywhere.

I did, too.  Could have been onboard...or while on an excursion or in port somewhere ...or on the flight.   Pretty much impossible to know when or where.

A quick question on the afternoon canapes...What are the selctions [if any] available for the canapes? Thanks!

They change every day.  Always available are nuts and crisps.  Different daily items include mini quiches, mini gazpacho,  crab salad in mini pastry cups, mini spring rolls,  little meatballs.  All served by waitstaff  on a tray in individual tasting dishes - a bite or two, just perfectly sized.
